I received the "promo gift card" on 12/30/2025 and it expired 1/31/2026. I didn't see that part and they refused to extend. My mistake but customer service could have honored it especially considering how much money we all spend there. Note to self: shop local or shop where the value you and will extend a simple expiration date. I'm usually pretty sad to part with my money, but when the service is this amazing + you have so much fun and it's an investment toward fulfilling a childhood dream...it's coo, it's coo. I've wanted to learn horseback riding since pretty much forever but due to the cost involved, this has never been a possibility for long (I managed to volunteer at an equestrian center for a summer while I was in college in exchange for lessons, but it's been a while..). Truth be told, we popped in here mainly because we wanted to just be able to get an idea of what to look for and to compare brand sizing. Originally the plan was to actually commit to buying something after we'd first secured a place where we're able to take lessons. This is not what happened at all, but the staff was such a dream to work with (we were helped by Carla and Kelsie)! They answered all our questions, helped to fit us for paddock boots, half chaps, and helmets + find sizing for long boots too, and even gave us some good contacts for stables that might be able to accommodate the scheduling/time constraints we have. We will definitely be back! (Our wallets are crying but our hearts are happy! ) They/I made the very fortunate discovery that I fit kid's sizes, which helped save a good chunk of change (+ yay for the holiday sale!). The store is super nice and clean inside. Very organized and looks like you can find anything you want. There's an assortment of high end gear and clothes. I purchased some boots and tried on half chaps. The workers are very nice and knowledgeable but sometimes there's not enough to support the customers in the store if you need personalized help. They offer ordering something if you don't have your size in store. Also they have good return policy! I'd say their items are on the pricier side but they are good quality. read more

I am glad they're here, one of the few tack shops left in the Bay Area. Good selection of items for horse care and English disciplines. Just be careful - many items have a price on them but ring up at a higher price. Today I bought a container of Lexol that was labeled 17.99 and rang up at 21.99. A few weeks ago I bought some hoof dressing that rang up $15 more than what it was labeled. Check what you are being charged against the labeled prices. read more

I just wanted to take a moment and mention that I was in the Moraga store for the tent sale - more specifically to buy a helmet. I was waited on by Hannah who was cheerful, knowledgeable and extremely helpful in making sure I was able to get the perfect helmet for me. I never felt rushed, I never felt like she was "selling" me something. She was very attentive to exactly what I wanted - something that fit for sure, but also something that I could look at in the mirror and like what I saw. The horse girl in me is obsessed with this establishment. I went for the first time yesterday and was happy with their selection. I love looking at brand-spanking-new saddles and tack. They have bits, but I wish they had more sizes as not all horses have a 5" mouth. Because of the Dover name, everything is very pricey compared to other equestrian/tack shops. The clearance section was better but still expensive. I am not sure I would purchase anything other than tack and horsey gifts here just because of the inflated costs. I love how they have books, stickers, and jewelry. The staff was friendly and they have the most adorable shop dog who is even more friendly. I'm happier than a kid in a candy store here! read more

Of the four or possibly people working in the store, one was masked. No one offered to help as I searched for gear for my kid. I had to ask and be abundantly clear with what I needed for boots. The person was untrained; if she'd been given any training, she'd be great. She just didn't know how to ask what was needed. Once prompted, it was fine. This is not our first purchase from Dovery. I have never met a happy dover employee, and I can only imagine this is at fault of the manager. The management is sloppy, at best. I have been going to this store for two years now and have had very good service every time I have gone in. The ladies there are always so helpful! The selection is great, but if there is something you want/need that is not in the store, they gladly do a product search to get it for you and make arrangements to deliver it where it is convenient for you (since Moraga is not exactly a conveniently located place). I've bought boots for my daughter where we had to go back and forth with the sizing--no problem. A year and a half ago, we were very tight on the delivery of a helmet for a show, but they gave me a loaner from a different maker in case my daughter were to fall and immediately need another helmet; great customer service! I also like the fact the ladies working there have horses or have ridden; so, if you are new to the equestrian world or unfamiliar with some products, these employees usually have good feedback for you. Dover reminds me of Nordstrom; polite, professional employees, the store is always clean and tidy, and their return policy is excellent! Only problem with this excellent return policy is that when you buy extra stuff thinking you'll be returning some of it later, you wind up keeping it after all . You won't find the cheapest bargains here specially on the high end items (apparently, the makers of the higher end items don't usually put their products on "sale), but as the old saying goes; "You get what you pay for." This Dover store is a place for a nice shopping experience for your equestrian products, and I highly recommend it! read more

If you're not familiar with Dover Saddlery, they are a long-time catalog, online and storefront saddlery company. The Moraga location, which just recently opened, is beautiful and their customer service is truly top notch, just like their inventory. Today, I went in just to "try on" some ready-made/off-the-rack tall boots. I was helped by Danielle and Lacey. Lacey helped me find a pair of perfect Tailored Sportsman breeches, which are a wardrobe staple. Danielle helped me with boots. She spent about 30 seconds taking my leg measurements, then she said she'd be back in a few minutes to find some boots in my size. She came back before I knew it with a pair of Parlantis that fit like a dream. They are beautiful and they fit better than the pair I had custom made for me in Rome (at 4x the price!). Even in the aftermath of COVID, Dover opening up was a bit of a chaotic experience. We went in for my daughter and were hoping to purchase some items for her current event horse. We were not greeted by staff & felt unwelcome in this environment of boxes and frantic energy. We ended up leaving without buying anything because of the lack of staff members and inadequate knowledge regarding boots and show items necessary for eventing. Our last experience was in September of 2019 and had high expectations of quality customer service and a clean and tidy store. This is the second time that I've ordered something that never came. I called to follow up on the order and they told me that the product would be shipped out in a month. I waited and waited but it never came so I followed up again. They told me it was still backordered so I requested that the order be cancelled. I went directly to the manufacturer of the product and was to order one right away. If you need something and Dover does not have it in stock, I would purchase it elsewhere. Newbie equestrian rider visiting Moraga and we encounter a Dover Saddlery store. Honestly, finding a saddlery store in the middle of sleepy Moraga seems a little unusual, but what a nice surprise. This store is very nicely outfitted with everything you can imagine. Daughter tried on almost all of their 1/2 chaps only to find they weren't fitting right. As soon as a sales girl (I use the term girl loosely-- young adult perhaps would be better) came over, she was able to find product suitable for daughter. Our checkbook left Dover's lighter, but the chaps works perfectly. It definitely is a place you can dump lots of money at. It's nice that you can visit an actual store, try things out and on before deciding on a purchase. For sure we will be back. read more

I was very disappointed in my visit to the Moraga Dover store. I went in to exchange some Back on Track polo wraps and purchase new boots and a bit and dealt with a woman named Karen P. Dover used to have a 100% satisfaction guarantee, you could return anything at any point. I know this having used it in the past. I have been shopping from Dover for years now but probably won't be anymore. I was told very rudely that because I had purchased them over a year ago I would not be able to exchange them. Despite the fact that I had spoken with a employee there this past Christmas about returning them, and explaining that I had had them for a year. To be clear they were not worn out they had only been used three times and I was not pleased with the fit. When I brought up the fact that you used to be able to return thing much past a year she told me I was wrong and that they were a company not a "Library" Karen's entire attitude from the moment I walked in made me feel like I was dirt to her. I work in retail myself and I don't have a problem with the fact that their exchange/return policy has changed I'm sure people abused it. But there was just absolutely no need for Karen's condescending and rude attitude. read more

However, after being so excited to find out upon visiting the area that there is an actual brick-and-mortar Dover store I left today frustrated disappointed and empty handed. Three employees standing at the register for a half an hour chatting had no interest in offering any assistance. I was one of two customers in the store. Trying to find full seat breeches within the mixed and overly full racks was a challenge. With 10 pair of pants I then helped myself to the dressing room. No help if I needed another size. Wanted to buy new boots too but quite frankly the experience was so poor I decided to leave. Spoke to the manager but I'm sorry to say I don't think it made an impact. So glad to have a Dover Saddlery brick-and-mortar store in the area. I had been looking forward to a shopping spree since it opened a few months back and today was the day. If you're an English-rider, it's worth driving 2+ hours to shop. Western riders will find a good supply of supplements and general horse care products but tack and attire stock is definitely geared toward the dressage, show jumping, hunter-jumper, and three-day eventing community. The store is larger than I expected and feels almost like an upscale ski shop. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They have a good supply of children's and women's sizes. More men's breeches and boots than any other local shop. I liked that they had such a wide variety of saddle pads so you can see and feel it before buying -- unlike shopping online. They also have a large selection of new saddles -- not to be missed. One nice feature of this store is that if the don't have the item in your size, you can order it and it will be shipped to YOUR HOME with no shipping charges, so you don't have to make a trip back to the shop. Any equestrian community is lucky to have a well-stocked Dover Saddlery and let's hope it thrives at it's current location so that local riders will have a place to pop in and buy those rare and hard to find show supplies. P.S. If you're on a road trip to the Bay Area to visit Dover Saddlery, you ought to try to get to these two additional horse supply stops: Arney's Crow Canyon Saddlery in Castro Valley is stuffed floor to ceiling with saddles, tack and supplies, English and Western. Also check out Western Saddlery in Pleasanton -- it's a massive warehouse of everything from farrier supplies to tack trunks. Hit all three stores in one day and your wallet will much lighter. read more

Did a balance inquiry for an item they did not have and no one ever got back to me its been months now . 3. Tried getting some tall boots in store for Christmas and never got them. Ordered my size cause they didn't have them in stock and told me they should be in store within a little over a week. Well over a month later I get a call to say my order has arrived in store, but when I go to pick them up they are two different boots! Couldn't have checked that before I made the trek out there? HORSE MECCA! I was there today. Everyone was so friendly and nice! Having shopped online at Dover my entire life (and having to pay the shipping costs....) I was absolutely blown away. This is, by far, the nicest tack store i've been to. Everything is reasonably priced (moderate-moderate high), unlike some stores that charge an arm and a leg for the same quality. I also love that they have, at least in their leather selection, broken and unbroken options, so if you want to break in the leather yourself, you can and the product is less expensive, but the broken, soft leather is a little pricier for those times when you just need something quick. Their pricing is extremely reasonable and reflects the online catalogue. I live in the south bay, so it's quite a trek to drive, but totally worth the 53+ minutes. It's an absolutely beautiful store, and extremely budget friendly (have i said that enough?) the staff is SO KNOWLEDGABLE. I overheard a conversation between one of the associates and a customer about jumper coats, and I was so impressed at how professional and knowledgable the Dover staff member was. How lucky he is to work in such a wonderful store! I could go on about how much I love this location, but today was like being able to go to Disneyland for the first time. I came to Dover for the first time in about eight months this week and was very disappointed. If I had written this review last year, it would have been five stars. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, the store was immaculate, and the selection of equestrian items were great. When I went in today, the store was extremely messy, there were boxes full of trash everywhere and the store was very disorganized. I had planned on buying a new helmet, but instead waited in the helmet area for ten minutes while the staff stood in the back room and chatted loudly with the door open. A few even passed me without acknowledgment. I ended up leaving without a helmet (I purchased it from SmartPak), only purchasing small things. When I was being rung up, the salesperson seemed extremely confused about my purchase of two items. I understand that COVID has affected businesses, but if Dover is not ready to be open, they should not have reopened. It makes me sad that this store has gone so downhill and I really hope that it gets better soon or else I will take even more business to SmartPak. read more

I special ordered a pair of tall boots for my daughter before Christmas. When Christmas came and went, I had not heard from them so I called. They assured me that they would be getting them this week as they had confirmation that the boots were indeed shipped out to them. They said they would call me when they arrived. Come January, I had still not heard from them. I didn't follow up with them again because I had happened upon a tack shop that had just what we needed in my daughters size. It is March and I still haven't hear from them. Other than that, the store carries a lot of basics for the hunter jumper world and not much else of anything else.
