Tom my PT person is very knowledgeable and one of the best PT persons I've had, in-fact everyone from the front desk staff through all PT's are skilled, professionals and make your PT needs enjoyable. In three weeks I was walking, bending, and doing well. Within 8 weeks I was skiing, and enjoying sports I had missed due to my knee.

The older lady with a green shirt told me that it was Suite 5 and pointed to her hand with her fingers held up, saying that even first graders could count to 5. She was very rude and I wouldn't recommend this place at all for anybody who doesn't like getting lip from, "So-called professionals." To the people who do, this is the place for you.

It's a great practice because the actual PTs spend time with their patients and really focus on explaining exercises and movements. You don't get a different aide each time like some other places. They also have a lot of different equipment and it never feels too crowded there. They have a sports PT focus here but they also see other injuries and patients who are not also. I highly recommend Portsmouth PT!

After multiple visits I wasn't getting much better so I decided to stop and try another avenue for my pain. I can see a need for physical therapy in many situations so this is not the reason for the 1 star - it is their billing practices that I have come to detest. After stopping in April I continue to receive bills from them for every month through July for the same 5 appointments. The amount kept increasing for these same visits - they claimed it was due to my insurance but when I called my insurance they said they had made my plan clear as to what they owe and what I would owe to the clinic. The back and forth is irritating and I am not saying my insurance is blameless but the responses I receive from the clinic are nonresponsive and without much of an explanation - they simply don't know what's going on. I can understand one bill that would need to resolve differences between insurance and patient payments but to continue every month for the same 5 visits several months in the past is simply incompetence. Overall I would go back for the therapy itself but because of their billing practices I would never go back again.

But my shoulder injury was 10 years in the making. When we are given guidance to relax those shoulders down and away from our ears AND WE DON'T LISTEN, then you stand where I am now. Nine months out and still with pain and impingement. But thanks to Melissa's encouragement, patience, and strategies of hope, I'm slowly building strength, teaching my body how to relax. Dry needling is a wonderful path to relieving tension, and added bonus, reducing facial puffiness. When we don't listen to our bodies, they will force us to listen, especially if we are on a journey toward healing and trying to listen to what our bodies need. I'm so glad I followed my gut and signed up for sessions with Melissa and I'm so glad she is trained in the Mackenzie style of Physical Therapy. It should be required training for all physical therapists. Learning exercises I had been doing were actually causes my shoulder to come out of alignment, when that was my problem, was a hug eye opener. And adding Pilates exercises to grow foundational strength and learn patience through purposeful movement is essential for chronic muscle tension and as an effect, poor joint mobility and strength. I love your office space. Perfect model! Thank you for your energy and your passion. Best to you in your practice forever and always. Kora

First visit here. Dimitra was enthusiastically recommended to me by two friends and our favorite…read morevet tech (who also has a Rottie that has been through paralysis and ACL surgery the following year). We came for a consult, and she spent more than the originally scheduled hour with us. Oops, we didn't mean to cut into the next client's time space! First greeted at the door by Bekah. She has a Rottie too. Argo is surrounded by lovers of the breed; he in turn greeted Bekah with his trademarked big smooches and Rottie lean when she rubbed near his nubby tail. Nearly knocked the poor woman over. LOL We filled out the new client form while waiting for Dimitra. Really nice, easy going lady. Got right down on the floor with Argo, after laying down some cushy pads and started an extremely thorough exam. Had a long discussion about his past medical history, and current issues, which don't just include the recent amputation. He's got a lumbar spine problem (acupuncture and chiropractic last week helped) and the extra strain on the remaining front leg is exacerbating a previous injury. Dimitra found that he's got a groin pull, which is making his back pain worse. We think it happened when he slipped at the top of the backyard ramp after a heavy rain - did a full on Bambi-on-ice spread eagle. My poor stoic beast! Someone else was using the water treadmill, which is the goal, to try strengthen his back and foreleg without gravity making it more difficult. But Dimitra suggested some cold laser therapy in the interim, to try help with the pain and inflammation. He gets heat laser and massage at our vet clinic on Friday. Will go back next week for more cold laser and try the treadmill. Might take a few (okay a lot) treats and/or tennis balls to get him in the tank. Hopefully I can get some video of that! ;) As we were going out, Dimitra came out too. Her next client was waiting in the car - smallish chocolate Lab with hind end paralysis. She lifted the lovely creature out of the car, went down on one knee with the dog bent over the upright knee, squeezed on either size of the lumbar spine and got the dog to void her bladder. It was fascinating to see. You don't think about having to do things like that for your pet, unless you see it, or are faced with the situation. Hope not to ever be in the situation (knock wood), but I said that about bone cancer too.
