It was…read moresometimes confusing to deal with these folks because different people would be responsible for different types of insurance and there was never any single person who could serve as a point of contact or who had the big picture. The O'Donoghue employee handling the car insurance was unresponsive to my request to change the garage address of a car. This ended up costing us hundreds of dollars extra and led to an email exchange at renewal time. We finally got it sorted out, but when I asked if they could get the insurance carrier on the phone for a conference call the O'Donoghue employee (a different one of course! There were at least three people involved in this debacle) emailed me with "I don't appreciate being told I have not tried to figure out what is due". Nobody at O'Donoghue ever apologized for dropping the ball on the address change or took any ownership of the problem. The people who work there do seem to understand insurance (better than I do, at any rate!) and if you need something simple and never change your address probably it will work out fine. But for us the rotating cast of characters meant that nobody was responsible (in the O'Donoghue staffers minds, I think that I was the responsible person, but that turned out to be a problem because I don't know anything about insurance). Anyway, we switched agencies so that we could have a single point of contact and clear lines of responsibility.

I had a policy with Danehy/Quinn for 8 years, I recently left being very disappointed with them. They will set up a policy for you and take your money but then disappear when you need them. I had a claim on a burst pipe that caused significant damage. They left me to deal with the Insurance adjuster for the master policy completely alone and did not help me to understand the process (which is complex) or offer me any guidance. In the end I lost a few thousand dollars unnecessarily because I did not understand what I needed to do to recoup the money. After the claim my premiums went up considerably (even though I as not at fault for a burst pipe in the wall). I asked the Danehy/Quinn agent to explain why and to help me identify another policy that was cheaper. The agent said they would look into both and get back to me. I never heard from them again. I have since taken my business to another insurance agency. I have gotten more coverage for $1000 less per year than the policy I had through Danehy/Quinn. I will never do business with Danehy/Quinn again - very poor customer support.
