I was shipping an aquarium from Alabama to Florida and needed manpower here to get the aquarium off the moving truck. Unfortunately, my very disorganized mover from Alabama made it impossible for me to use Doug's. I am writing this review because of Doug's flexibility, professionalism and wonderful communication. In the run up to the move, I contacted Doug's to book a team to get the tank off the truck. I was immediately contacted by Doug's with a confirmation of availability and the price. I was even given a cell phone to keep in touch on delivery day. As my Alabama mover got further and further behind schedule, I kept Doug's in the loop and they were able to adjust their team and promised me availability Until my Alabama mover made it impossible for Doug's to hold the team. The delivery window went from 2 to 8 to 12 hours late. Consequently, while I was unable to use Doug's, I would have no hesitation in contacting Doug's should the need ever arise again. The constant communication and adjustment to accommodate my disorganized Alabama mover was incredible. I hope I have the opportunity to use Doug's in the future. read more

We hired Doug's to move us from Palmetto to Parrish. We had our home and a storage unit. Their motto is "Muscle with a Hustle" and they lived up to it. We needed to split the move into two days because of weather. We had Joe, Billy, JJ, Josiah and AJ over the two trips. Man can they hustle. Efficient, careful, reasonable, and as a bonus, they were funny! We have to drive a rental truck full of more belongings from our old home state and we are using them again to unload the truck when we get here. Trailer scraped our driveway, did not even have a normal moving box truck type vehicle. (They had a trailer more meant for lawn equipment- too low to the ground) Items missing and some were placed in garbage that were damaged without saying a word about it. Directed where items went and one guy completely ignored and just put things where he wanted (IE master closet put in child's bedroom, kitchen pantry put in garage) even though boxes also clearly labeled as to contents and location to bring. Box marked fragile with glass inside it had heavy boxes on it and items were damaged. Movers constantly reminding that they accept tips- mentioned no less than 5 times to multiple people No masks were used and refused to wear them mid-pandemic One piece of furniture just dropped onto floor Contacted them, denied responsibility and stated they would reimburse but never did as promised. read more

I was getting lunch and saw a guy in a tee shirt for this moving/packing company. I needed packing, and told him I was taking his picture. I had a great crew. Joe, Joe, and "Joe." I cannot express how impressed I was with this moving service. I figured there would be at least one small issue with our move-but there were ZERO. I called for a quote and the quote was spot on with the exact cost of the move. Most other companies stated the move would take 8 or 9 hours, and they had it done in under 5. Originally found Doug's Muscle Movers on Angie's List as a highly rated moving company and have to say that I agree with the reviews on Yelp and Angie's List. These guys were wonderful - fast, but careful with our belongings. They were light hearted and jovial with one another, yet never wasted time. I was surprised to find that our moving day was actually fun! I liked the professional look of the moving trucks and the movers. Even the neighbors remarked on how professional it was. One bonus is that Doug came to the house before moving day to "train" me on how to pack and have things ready for the move. He also left enough used boxes, packing paper, and new packing tape to make packing easy. This saved me money with new Uhaul boxes. After the move he came out to the house and picked up the boxes and packing paper. Love that this company recycles and their service is A+. Really impressed with the whole group! read more

When my husband and I put our house on the market, we received tons of fliers in the mail from various moving companies. Before making a rash decision, my husband did a lot of research on Yelp and narrowed it down to one company, Doug's Hourly Muscle Movers. He selected Doug's for two reasons: 1) they were a locally owned family business and 2) they received excellent reviews on Yelp. Doug, the owner, came to our house, carefully assessed our needs and explained how his company could provide us with a stress free move. Since we had recently purchased new appliances for our existing home, we inquired if Doug would be willing to swap out the builder appliances in our new home with our current ones. He indicated that it would not be a problem as that is a common request. After going over the particulars and signing the contract, he provided us with packing boxes, wrapping paper, tape and gave us a mini-lesson on how to pack our delicate items like china and dishes. A few days later, we received a follow up call to inquire if we needed any additional boxes, paper and tape. And Jackie, Doug's wife, kept us informed about any changes to the moving date time. Moving day came and everything went as planned. We had three strong men carefully load our belongings and cart them off to the new residence. The guys were extremely courteous and considerate of our property and eager to place furniture wherever we requested. Moreover, the movers provided us with wardrobe boxes that enabled us to keep our clothing on hangars so that we could immediately hang them in the new closets. Avoid... and why. 1. Unloading (experience #1) ..... I have used and would use again. Actually that was a 5 star experience. Notice their name implies muscle and not skill. 2. Loading (experience #2): even though I supplied 5 dozen blankets only 2 dozen were used and things like wooden furniture were wrapped in the clear plastic wrap with no blanket. Lots of damage to lots of wood items. Also, heavy boxes were stacked on light boxes leading to more damage. This is amateur stuff. THE DAMAGE IS NOT WORTH THE SAVINGS USING DOUG'S HOURLY MUSCLE. ... almost forgot..... broke a window in our house that I had to discover 3. Fine print: if they load your truck but don't drive it they aren't going to cover any damage. read more

These movers steal !!! DO NOT Hire this moving company unless you want your things stolen right from under your nose or delivered to another residence without your knowledge. My husband ( 100% Disabled MARINE) passed away and he bought me a 9 mm Ruger handgun to protect myself.... This moving company STOLE IT !! My husband died and I needed help packing and moving out of the house that we had built. This moving company came and did not organize or pack anything properly. They threw everything in boxes, it was such a mess. They broke one of my chandeliers and overcharge me over $1000. Not only did they steal my gun, there are so many things missing like my sound bar for my TV and a speaker. Some of my expensive purses are missing too. Not only did all these things get stolen from me, and have never ever been acknowledged or returned by this company. There must not have been anyone over the age of 21 working for this company They also delivered my husband's Urn To a totally different location!!!!! if the people they delivered my husband to by accident weren't so kind to call and let us know, that wasn't their loved one in that Urn, he probably would've been lost to me forever. Please don't hire these people!! I think about the things they stole from me every single day. That gun was supposed to protect me and it's something that I Will never see again and it hurts every single day. These movers have caused me more pain then moving ever could have!!! Not sure why there are 2 Doug's Hourly Movers listed but avoid. Showed up 3 hours late with no real apology. Packed the kitchen by literally throwing things in a box. Unpacking was eventually left to me all they wanted to do was leave, remember they showed up three hours late and now it was going on 6p... damaged many pieces of furniture, ripped the handle off a dresser, broke the wheels off the bottom of another, scratched the top of an antique chest, tore the bottom out of the box springs, tore the backing on a number of framed pictures by just grabbing the top of the frame, to name a few. They were so nasty to work with I quit trying to get things repaired. read more

These guys were amazing. They loan you boxes, teach you how to pack so nothing breaks, show up on time, do an awesome job and charge a fair price. This was the LEAST stressful moving experience with a moving company that I have had, and for that I am thankful to Doug's Hourly Muscle. If I move again, I will ABSOLUTELY hire them. I moved from my condo to a house about 40 minutes away. I spoke with Alex several times on the phone to discuss the move, and pricing. He was professional and very helpful. They were stuck in traffic on the day of the move, and called to let me know they were going to be a little late. (Happens to all of us). I called and spoke with Jackie about scheduling a small move. She was both nice and helpful. She called me the day before to confirm and the morning of to let me know the truck was on the way. I appreciated that. The movers showed up promptly as arranged. The were both great! I've used several movers in the past and unfortunately I often find myself being the "guardian" in enforcing continuance work to avoid the foot-dragging and impromptu "breaks" on MY dime. Moved across the state from Bradenton to St. Augustine. We got three quotes and, while this was not the least expensive, it was in the ballpark and they came highly recommended by our new neighbors, so we decided to give them a try. I have moved many times and this was by far the best move I have ever had! Alex and Jay showed up on time, loaded the truck quickly and carefully, drove 4 hours and then unloaded the truck equally quickly and carefully! We left our old home at 9 am and were in our new home by 2 pm! They were professional and kind, with not one grumble when I asked them to move furniture from place to place until I decided where I wanted it. The best part was, when it came time to pay the bill, the bill was less than they quoted and they even deducted 45 minutes for their lunch stop!!! I certainly did not expect that!! Doug, Jackie and his staff of movers are absolutely the best, I highly recommend them. I recently moved from Sarasota to Boca Raton (about 220 miles) and could not have been happier with every aspect of the move and the service provided. Doug came out and gave me a firm, fair price before the move and then, on the day before the move, I spoke with Jackie and mentioned some time constraints for move-ins in my new gate community. Jackie offered to get her guys to my Sarasota residence early to make it easy and they showed up a 6:45AM, were finished loading at 8:15, and we were on the road at least 2 1/2 hours before my expectation. The entire move was completed by 2:30, absolutely an amazing experience. Doug's staff always works their butts off, they are not only good at what they do but take pride in their work. I've used them before for a local move (and recommended them to several friends) and nothing is ever broken or damaged. As the other reviews have said, they are great. read more

Amazing!!! Super friendly from the owners to the loaders. Not a single broken or damaged item nor any arms or damage to old or new home. We utilized the free box drop off and pick up service. Not worrying about enough packing boxes was great. On moving day, they wheeled in at least a dozen wardrobe boxes and just loaded up larger items, clothing and bedding. No charge.
