We had our Rheem water heater repaired October 31, 2025. The water become lukewarm, no hot water…read more We called Crystal Heating & Plumbing to fix the problem. They replaced the lower heating element and the bill was 400 $. Two months later in January 2026 the water heater stopped heating water again. We called Crystal Heating & Plumbing to look at the problem. They told us that the lower heating element needs replacement and also the lower thermostat needs to be replaced. The cost was to be 350$ just for the parts. We could not believe that we need to replace the part that was already replaced 2 months ago and that their diagnosis of thermostat is truthful. Decided to call Rheem technician to help us diagnose the water heater problem. It shows that thermostats are good and the lower heating element needs to be replaced. We just had it replaced 2 months earlier by Crystal Heating & Plumbing and they again wanted to do the same job and have us pay 350$ for parts and unspecified amount for the work to be done !?! Because they lied to us about the thermostat and the lower element was just replaced by them we decided to have it fixed ourselves. The parts that supposed to be 350$ we bought for 70$. After draining the water heater we unscrewed the lower heating element and it was all covered by 1/4 inch calcium deposit. ????? That was not possible in case if the part was replaced 2 months ago. They did not do that, just charged for it. It is impossible for heating element to get so much sediment in 2 months !!!!!!!!!!! We screwed back the newly purchased part and the hot water was back. We write the review to let other people know how deceitful and untrustworthy people working for Crystal Heating & Plumbing are. They refused to acknowledge the scam and refused to refund the money for previous fictitious repair. Stay away from them unless you want to be cheated.

What an absolute nightmare it has been dealing with this so called business. A several day long…read moreproject, turning into several months long. Severed gas line. Full prior knowledge and prior work on property to have this all being avoided. Prior work on plumbing that could have avoided this entire pipeline fault in total. No accountability. 50% over estimated cost. No written documentation. No paper trail. Just continued dishonesty and lack of accountability by Andy Barber. Legal fees not worth fighting the over estimated cost. I have never been this disappointed with a local business in my entire life. My family has been dealing with this company for 4 generations and have provided them tens of thousands of dollars of business. It's incredibly discouraging that individuals do business this way. Learn from the trust this business broke and steer clear of them like the plague.

Quick , efficient, and very knowledgeable. Great Job!…read more I definitely recommend this company .

Normally I don't even say anything about businesses that I had poor service with but this is…read moreridiculous and dont want anyone to go through this too. I highly DONT recommend using Areguin Heating and Cooling. We called and asked for a QUOTE. When they showed up a few days later (which we were understanding about the wait with it being summer and lots of units needing work) it was 2 guys. They called my husband Cory saying they were 10-15 minutes away, Cory went outside to wait for them, but then they ended up sitting in their truck for another 10 minutes and got out laughing. One was an older guy who didn't speak any English at all and a younger guy who hardly spoke English. Which wouldn't be much of an issue either but it gets worse. Cory took the younger guy down to the basement to check out the furnace, the kid couldn't even figure out how to get the lid off of it and kept tapping it. So then Cory took the lid off and showed him that the filter was brand new and then Cory put it back and put the lid back on. Then they go outside to the unit. The two guys talk to each other (just talking and laughing in Spanish not communicating with Cory at all) and went to their truck, got a part, and started working on our unit. When Cory asked what they were replacing and what it was going to cost (again, no quote was given and we weren't even told what they were doing before they started working on it.) the kid told Cory that they don't do numbers and then kept tapping his head saying "English is hard" and finally said it was a capacitor and said the one that was in our unit was a 5.0 and literally said they replaced it with a 7.5 because it would do better at cooling our house off. Then they literally just left. Didn't check to make sure anything worked or anything. Just left. After they left we turned our unit back on, and the fan was going the wrong way and the unit was making weird noises that it never made before. After an hour we realized the temperature in our house was just rising. Cory went to check on the unit and it was extremely loud and the fan was spinning weird and slow. Then Cory came back in and checked the thermostat and it was blinking at him. So he turned the central air off using the thermostat. Then when he went to turn it back on, it wouldnt turn on. So Cory went down to the basement to check the breaker and saw it had blown and turned it back on just for it to blow again after not even a minute of him messing with it. And it just kept blowing every time he tried to turn it on so we left it off and called. Cory called a total of 10 times. Called twice the day of, July 10th, and then called right away at 8am when they opened and it took him called 4 times in a row to get an answer. So he told the lady on the phone everything and she said the owner was out in the field working so he would call when he could. Then we figured out the motor was blown in our unit. So Cory called again and they literally ignored his calls and sent him straight to voicemail until he called from my phone. Then the lady answered. He asked her if she had gotten ahold of him yet and she said she hadn't tried contacting him yet. So Cory told her that were pretty sure our motor is now blown after they worked on it and that we needed him to call us. She then said she would try again. (After saying she hadn't tried to contact him yet) this was after hours of waiting. Then after a bit Cory text the number saying that if we don't get any kind of response that we will contact the better business bureau and contacting who we need to for the Iowa Homeowner Protective Act. Literally finally got a call back minutes after sending that text from the owner, who then proceeded to tell Cory that they couldn't of caused that and for us to give the younger guy a break because he was 2 weeks new. Like what? We are paying for a service to be done and to be done right. If they don't know what they are doing they shouldn't even be out working! Then tried saying that they would replace our motor for $600something and said we should just get a new unit because ours is old, said it was 2 centuries old. Even though when Cory bought the house, he paid for 3 inspections for the house and they told him it was 5 years old, so now it's only 7 years old, so that's not true. Even the guy who came, not last year but the year before, through the same company, said it was a fairly new unit and was in good shape. So not only are they not admitting to anything they did wrong, the owner never even bothered to come look at the work the other kid did and is just taking the kids word for it on everything. Including the age of our unit. So yeah. Definitely do NOT recommend.

My wife and I decided to update the 2 showers in our home. We went to a well known plumbing supply…read morestore and picked our showers and hardware. The supply store recommended Mick Gage. We got and estimate and were told that it was estimated quite high because of the unforeseen work that may come up. It was within our budget and were assured that the price would be much lower. So we moved forward withe the project. I am very handy so i removed the old tub and shower surround, replaced the sheet rock on the wall and had it ready to go. When the installer got there he said the floor for the base needed raised and he could do it easily with minimal cost. So he moved forward with the project. He installed the base and the surround, once he got to the shower door installation he told us it would not be perfect because the floor for the base was not level. He was the one that raised the floor for the base, why didn't he address this at that time? Then there was the 2 glass shelves he installed. They are corner shelves and they are almost a full bubble off level. The owner Mick would not return calls because he is too busy, but not too busy to bill us the full amount of the estimate. Not an itemized bill just a bill. When he finally came to look at the work he said we have too much weight on the shelves and used them too soon. They are screwed to the wall and they are rated for 15lbs. Shampoo conditioner and shave cream. Also the caulking looked like it was done by a 2 year old. Moving on to the second shower. I removed the old one again and the plumbing came to install the base. Well the person that wrote the estimate measured worng. Now we wait two months for the base. Finding out from the supplier that it took onlytwo weeks to get. They finally got my shower installed. I did have to do some additional sheet rock because the corners were not perfect but i repaired them and things went ok. The shelf in my shower is not level but not near as bad as the one in my wifes. I get the bill and the owner billed me $350 to come out and look at his workers mistakes. They also billed us for repairing the poor caulk work. The faucet in my sink was left loose and so were the fixtures in my shower. I know they will never fix the shower shelves because the right way would require replacing part of the shower surround. I will send them a check for the rest of the material but they will not get a labor payment until we are 100% satisfied Would not recommend. By the way they tried to blame the supplier because of inferior product. If it was inferior to them why did they not inform us at the time of estimate. They will put fireplace installation before any other project even if yours was scheduled first. I don't think i would let these people put fire in my home
