Amazing optometry office. The gentleman that runs this location genuinely cares about what he does. I've been coming to this location for 5 years now. Every time I leave throughly satisfied. For example, I had broke my old pair of glasses. Needed a new pair for work, I arrived on Saturday to the office. All fault of mine, I had arrived right when the office was closing. However, the gentleman inside still graciously saw me. He looked at my prescription, and transitioned the frames I chose to prescription lenses. This was all done within 45 mins. read more

Brought in broken glasses and even though he had to replace the frame ( kindda expected it) he had the exact same frame and I was wearing them within 15 minutes! Only paid $40! "WOW, THIS IS AMAZING." This is the only place you should ever go to buy glasses. Barry is such a great guy with amazing prices and an even better personality. My glasses broke this weekend and replacing them would take anywhere from 2-3 weeks. I have contacts, but I can't stand them for long periods. Desperate, I called him around 2pm, gave him my prescription and asked if it was true he'd be able to get a pair of glasses made in a day. "No problem," He said. He wasn't kidding. I arrived at his place at 4pm and I had new, perfect, glasses less than 30 minutes later. MOST of that time was me picking out my frames. He had a HUGE selection of FREE frames (and a sizable selection of designer frames that apparently come with free lenses). I have a moderately high prescription, which requires ultra-thin lenses. The frame, the lenses, and a case+cloth were all done in less than 30 minutes for less than $80. That's 1/3rd of what i've paid at other places; for similar frames, thicker lenses and weeks of waiting. We had a good chat during the wait, it felt like no time at all. I can't think of any experience i've ever had as a customer that's been this nice. I can't recommend Barry and Douglas Optical enough. Go here! You won't regret it. read more

This place is the worst. Had 2 sets of lenses made for some very high end frames. When they were complete I immediately noticed they were not that sharp when work normally, but If I raised then up higher I could see 100%. I let Barry, the owner, know and he said just wait a few days. So I did. There was no improvement, so I went back and told Barry he probably should have measured me wearing the frames before he cut the lenses. He started yelling at me and refused to help me. After much heated debate he finally took back the bad lenses but only gave me a partial refund. What a joke !! Terrible customer service !! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Your eyes are too precious too take a chance on a shoddy operation like Douglas Optical. Will be filing a complaint with my insurance as well. These guys should not be on the approved provider list. read more

I went there today as my mom broke her eye wear's temple accidentally stepping on it. It was just a joint that was broken. I looked at and thought that it's unrepairable. I walked in thinking that I have to fork some high dollars to get new frame. I walked in and the older gentleman there says, "Do you want me to fix it? It will cost you $12.00?" I was here to spend at least $100 for new pair and this guy tells me that he can fix for mere $12.00. If I was the owner of the place, I would have most likely sold new frame telling the customer that it can not be fixed to get some sells but not this gentleman. He was very honest. So I had to check it out because I broke my glasses and couldn't take them to Costco because I didn't purchase them at Costco. I've purchased glasses at Costco and I've taken them back for repairs and they have given me a hard time and they take days even weeks to get them back. The lady who helped me out was super nice, attentive and very helpful she fixed my glasses in about 30 minutes it took a little long because they had 3 customers in front of me. My son stepped on his glasses and of course one of the legs broke. We took them to Costco and they referred us to Douglas optical. I took the glasses and asked if they could be fixed, but the screw on the leg could not be fixed. I then said that I didn't mind if he put two different legs on the glasses and he said he would look for something similar and put them on. Today, he called me and said that they were ready and that he was only opening for me to pick them up because his business is closed on Sunday. Ok, so I wasnt really in the market to purchase any new frames. It just so happens I stumbled upon the cutest cat eye frames from another site and needed to get them filled. I searched HIGH & LOW for a place to fill my prescription. Every single place was waaay OVERPRICED. A friend suggested lenscrafters.... i kindly declined the offer (i completely and utterly loathe that place). Anywho, googled then yelped my SOS and found this diamond in the rough, DOUGLAS OPTICAL!!! Mr. Barry was amazing! not only was he able to help but I also ended up purchasing a 2nd pair from his FREE frame collection as well. After a very short and nice wait, I was presented with 2 very nice pairs of glasses, just in time to pick up my son. I paid $118 total out the door. Prior to me finding out about this place, i was in vision hell! Never in my life has my glasses ever, ever, ever been less than $200. I have a single vision lense too. I have tried to tell everyone I know who is visually challenged to get down there ASAP. I definitely will be back. I saw that some people complained about the language barriers... I just got new glasses that I desperately needed at Douglas Optical by Dale's Diner on Carson. He had millions of refurbished frames and if you choose from them they are free and all you pay for is the lenses. I got my eye exam for $54 at Costco and took it to him. They gave me his name. I got a pair of prescription readers for $80 and some bifocals for another $100 or so. The readers were done in a half hour and the bifocals were ready the next day. read more
