Douglas Gonzalez and his brother Byron completed a long list of handyman projects that enabled the sale of my house at San Francisco. Douglas and Byron are a hardworking team, skilled across a wide range of home repair disciplines, and willing to take on extra work that is not part of the original scope. The best way to reach Douglas was via text. He calls back quickly. The objectives of my projects were good appearance and fully functional, but not a remodeling effort. Douglas & Bryon did an excellent job installing new kitchen appliances: gas stove and range hood. This required the installation of new gas line, new electrical and vent duct for the hood. They also did an excellent job replacing a very rusted bathtub drain which required the replacement of the tub drain assembly and replacing a section of the cast iron sewer stack. They did a great job of installing new bathroom sink and vanity. They installed new water valves, drain, and shower valve. Byron is a great plumber. They also repaired sheetrock and painted to match. Douglas also completed some minor kitchen cabinet carpentry repair. To give the whole bathroom a fresh clean look, Douglas & Bryon suggested to paint the bath tub, the wall tiles and the floor tiles with white epoxy paint. The outcome was OK, but not great. They both tried. I believe bath tub and tile painting is not their core competency. The difficulty is epoxy paint cannot be touched up. This is the only project they completed that did not deserve five stars. Douglas shopped and purchased all the material which saved me a lot of effort. The price of the job was fair and competitive with the other quotes I received. Please consider Douglas Construction for your home projects. read more

The whole thing took just a little over an hour; they were careful and cooperative. His price was extremely reasonable. I was going to give him 4 stars because we had scheduling problems, but not only was the work done well and fast and cheaply, but they also took away the old blinds AND all the packaging that the new ones came in. 9/19/2024 Deck repair. Douglas and his Brother did a fantastic job on the repair work on my second story Redwood Deck! (16 ft wide 10 ft out from the house). It was in pretty bad shape. It is almost 40 years old and approximately half of the deck boards had to be totally replaced and 100% of the Hand Rails were replaced! I asked him to stain the deck when it was repaired! Douglas applied 2 coats to the Deck, both top and bottom (underside)! The Deck now looks magnificent & it is stronger and safer than it was when it was brand new! he also repaired 3 sections of Dry-rot on the side of my house where deck is touching the house! These Two young me came on time each day! They immediately started to work! No fooling around they stopped at noon for a 30 min. lunch and went back at it till about 4:30, they cleaned the work area and departed! I would definitly use them again and would give them a 5 star rating! read more

After agreeing on a piece of work (mount the mirror to the wall), Douglas didn't show up at the agreed time. When I called he said he had an emergency taking his wife to a court hearing. I understood and we rescheduled, and then he didn't show up again. When I called again he said he could come the next Monday. Again he didn't show up. When I asked the reason, this time it's because he had to take his daughter to a doctor. I understand everyone has priority in life but I waited for him for 3 weeks and had to call multiple times. I said this is very unprofessional and I will leave a bad review, he said "don't worry I prefer the bad review to my baby's health now", making me look bad when it's his fault not providing a heads-up and missed the appointment multiple times. I have wasted so much time and now it's really hard to find a replacement because it's only a small piece of work. He had come earlier for a bigger piece of work and promised to come back for this additional one when my mirror arrives.
