Closed on Mondays!!! Arrived on a Friday mid morning and most of the donuts were already gone and does not appear that there is a continuous flow of donuts. When they are out they are out. Donuts are average but probably great for the area since there are no other donut shops around. Their customer service is lacking! You go in to get a donut and they are "all sold out", even if they've only been open for 20 minutes. They've been "waiting on equipment " or "mama's not working today so we don't have those donuts". One employee tells you one thing and another employee has another excuse. I had already been by this place numerous times and decided that today was the day I HAD to try it! There are 3 of us to feed but will sometimes share meals as we are not big eaters. When you walk in the door, you know that something good is coming because the aroma of chicken and donuts make you want to sample everything they have to offer! Not only do they offer Chicken and Donuts, they also have different kinds of coffees and also offer ice cream. One of my choices was the 2 Chicken Tenders with 1 side of the Greens Medley and a roll. The other choice was a Chicken Tender plate with 1 side of Macaroni and Cheese, which I am a huge fan of, and a roll. The Greens Medley is a combo of collards and cabbage seasoned with ham hock. I chose this against my better judgement but being from eastern NC, I wanted to see how they would match up to what I had been raised on. And oh my! It exceeded my expectations and was delicious!! The Mac and Cheese was perfect with it being creamy and cheesy. The cheese was not bland tasting but at the same time was mild. The noodles were not overcooked. There are numerous choices for donuts that are out of the park delightful in appearance and very colorful. I chose the Apple Fritter based on a recommendation with someone I had just spoken to about DoughJ's. Again, it exceeded everything I had hoped for except I wish I had been able to eat more of it! The dough was just a little crispy and the glaze was perfect. Every bite had a sample of apple it which was cooked to perfection. I did hear the owner, J. Canty speaking about the specialty item, the "Glazer". It is one of their huge donuts, split in half, with their specialty, Chicken Tenders, layered on top covered with the other half of the donut. Their special glaze was then drizzled over top of this mind boggling sandwich. I did get to see one of them in person and I am sure it was as good, if not better, than anything else on the menu! Maybe in the future!!! The staff was very friendly and accommodating since this was my first visit. They were very helpful and described many of the menu items to me. I will definitely go back again as one of my family members is eyeing the Pork Chop plate menu item and I want to try the Chicken pieces dinner. Food is fresh and very good. I had the banana pudding doughnut before I ordered my food and it is very good and enough for two people. If you are reading this, you were not there, so I ate your half. I arrived at 11:20 and they had about 1/4 of doughnut left and inventory was going quickly. Not a place for a large group. There's seating for about 15 inside and a few places to sit outside. The food is made when you order, so expect to wait, but it's worth the wait. Fried chicken is hot and very tasty. Greens are highly recommended, yummy. The Mac and cheese is good and gooey. Given that the old lady wanted to try the new place in town I decided to wake up early to get there when they opened and boy was that a Great decision. (The guy who came in after me completely cleaned them out! We decided on breakfast bowls (scrambled eggs cheese, grits, bacon, and sausage with a fresh biscuit), an assortment of donuts (cronut, glazed, maple bacon, banana pudding, Oreo, & m&m) with a coffee and hot chocolate. Everything was fantastic. Breakfast bowl was delicious, and the assortment of donuts didn't last long thanks to the family. If you want some advice make sure you pick up some extra cronuts cause they won't last long and make sure to try the maple bacon!! We can't wait to try the lunch menu. We spent two months in the town of Webster, and discovered Dough J's right away. Once I tasted their doughnuts I was constantly called back for more. Their doughnuts are always fresh, and the softest I've ever tasted. (Sorry to our hometown doughnut shop that just lost their #1 slot.) Apparently their chicken is amazing too, although I didn't get a chance to try it. But I did see customers ordering chicken at 9 a.m.! Yesterday they were to reopen and we decided to give them another chance only to find empty cases and a 45 minute wait for donuts?!?!
