Nice boxes!

Wow, this was our first time here and we really enjoyed our meal. Service was fast and friendly and the ambiance was casual and comfy, Now, the food- the 3 of us shared the Cesar salad which was just the right amount and a deal at $6.50! I ordered the gluten free Sicilian with sausage and peppers and the kiddo has a new York style cheese. Everything was flavorful and we thought was affordable as well! Will be back!

Pretty humble and unassuming Pizza joint that serve up some pleasant twists to the classic dishes. Everything familiar is trendy here. For example, the salads (we tried both the Mandarin chicken salad and Caesar salad) the salad bowl sizes were perfect and came with tongs for serving, I thought that was neat! The Loaded potatoes pizza is a must try. I don't quite recall anybody else offering such a combination. If you didn't believe starchy roots can taste good on a gluten pie, think again and try it! The Margarita NY style pizza was ordered to accommodate a friend who's vegetarian. I ended up trying a little bite and it was good too. I wouldn't mind stopping over and try everything from the menu. This place stroke a high chord with me!

Triple threat GF Sicilian
Rachel S.

found this place through social media and so glad we did. They have GLUTEN FREE chicken tenders!!! So so yum. Crunchy outside, moist chicken and a balanced honey mustard. Also had the triple threat GF Sicilian pizza crust and the 3 sauces were delicious. The crust is very crunchy on the bottom but still a treat for deep dish. There's another GF deep dish (Detroit style) place in Denver that I would prefer crust-wise... So summary: come for the pizza, STAY for the chicken tendies.

Pizza. GF deep dish.

Amazing GF pizza and fried chicken. Pizza had such a great chew/crunch for GF. The fries were even amazing. Perfectly crunchy and crispy and seasoned well. Service was fast. Nice atmosphere and Coke Zero is always a plus. The GF dessert was very nice as well.

Love dough counter. Awesome NY and Sicilian style za by the slice or whole. Incredible dough. Would definitely put it amongst the top pizza spots in denver. Staff are super nice and the restaurant space is cool. They did a great job with the shop. Bug fan of the hot honey pep and the triple threat. Haven't had the big mac or chicken parm but they are next on the wish list. Highly recommend a stop by for some great pizza in Denver away from the madness of downtown.

6 piece chicken tenders + 10 piece mozz sticks. Burger sauce and mozzarella on the side.

I would genuinely not call this pizza. This was a gluten free focaccia that had tomato and cheese sneezed on the top. A fists worth of mediocre, overcooked bread, covered with a thumb and a pinkies worth of sauce and cheese. Mozzarella sticks were mediocre, at best. I won't knock them points because I did not eat them fresh out of the fryer. Marinara was sweet, but decent. Chicken tenders were ultimately the superior item. Reminiscent of a Cane's tender in all the right ways and the wrong ways. Burger sauce was exquisite. Seriously disappointed in the experience for the cost. Was really rooting for you, Dough Counter, but I'd be better off making a frozen pizza at home. Celiacs and gluten free customers be warned, it's not worth it.

I love this pizza! I'm always searching for great Sicilian style like I grew up on. Now this isn't the pizza from my childhood - it's even better. They not only have Sicilian, they have NY style too, so everyone is happy. Pizza isn't the only thing served here they have - Chicken Strips, Fries, Starters, Salads & even a display case of Desserts. Dough Counter is located in the University Hills Plaza, with plenty of parking. The inside is cute, with a checkerboard floor, booths, tables & pendant lighting. And... stacks & stacks of pizza boxes, that actually add to the ambiance & decor, as well as background music & a big screen TV. There is also outdoor seating & a separate party room. We arrived on a late Sunday afternoon & was surprised to see many of the tables filled as well as the party room. A friendly employee took our order at the counter & gave us a number to place on the table, they bring the food to you. Other than that everything is self service - plates, silverware, fountain drinks/water & seasonings/condiments. The pizzas were wood fired, with deliciously crispy & crunchy crusts. I really enjoyed that there wasn't a ton of sauce too. The NY style came with tomato sauce & mozzarella cheese. This was good but the Sicilian was the star...absolutely wonderful! It's a light pan pizza (5-day rise dough), with spicy cupped pepperoni, nicely balanced with brick cheese & a dollop of ricotta cheese plus a hot honey drizzle on top. Memorable, crave-able & delectable!

Chicken tenders, hot honey pepperoni pizza, triple threat, and green chili cheese bread

*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW holy crust! I haven't had Sicilian pizza since my diagnosis, and this did not disappoint. We got the hot honey pepperoni and the triple threat - both very good!! We also had to try the green chili cheese bread and chicken strips, delicious. The sauces were also yummy:) we got the house buttermilk ranch, strippers' special sauce, and tangy BBQ. The restaurant has EXTENSIVE practices put in place to take care of allergies (they have a whole portion of their website online to talk about GF. The staff were very kind and I did not get sick.

This place was amazing! If you are needing gluten free options this is the place for incredible pizza! You will be surprised with their thick, crispy gluten free dough! Literally obsessed with this place!

The…read moreonly things I can really enjoy at a Jamaican restaurant are rice and peas, mac and cheese, and plantain. As I went into the restaurant, I was greeted with a smile. The person who took my order, who was a woman, was very nice at first. Then I started asking questions about the Rasta Pasta to see if they could take out any meat if there was any. Come to find out they have shrimp in their Rasta Pasta. She checked with the kitchen to see if they can remove the shrimp, and they said yes. I asked another question: can I know how much food comes with the Rasta Pasta? She said it's a big amount. I was wondering if I can get a small amount. When I asked that, she seemed so annoyed to go back to the kitchen to ask them if I can get a smaller amount of Rasta pasta. This is when she started to become a little bit rude. When she came back from the kitchen, she told me, "Yes, they can make a smaller portion of Rasta Pasta." But then, this being my first time at this restaurant, I thought maybe I could eat a little bit and then save the rest for later or tomorrow. I then changed my mind from a smaller portion to a bigger portion. I understand when you're dealing with an indecisive person at the moment, it can get a little annoying, but when you work at a restaurant, whether you're the owner or not, that is so rude. She then said this to me, "That's a lot of food for one person." Without her even knowing if I have siblings or not, or if I am sharing this with someone, she just assumed that it's all for me just because of how I looked (I had planned to eat a little then save it for the next couple of days). I do look a bit overweight, but for her to point that out, that's so rude. I almost cried in my car when I walked back to it after leaving the restaurant. I'm currently on a weight loss journey, but for her to say that and not even know me almost broke me. The atmosphere was okay at first, but obviously that went downhill as I was leaving the restaurant. The only good thing that I actually enjoyed that I got from there was the coconut cake and the mac and cheese...

Which consisted of wings and tenders, and basket of loaded fries. Kenn got a Dr. pepper to go with it all. We heard the sauces were bomb. We got classic range, honey chipotle bbq, blue cheese dressings. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed ourselves... the chicken was crispy like I like it and the tenders oh my was delicious. We have recently started buying the entrees. Wow! Can't say enough good things about them. My…read morefavorite is the Classic Meatloaf. 2nd is a variety of Italian dishes; pizza, calzone, & baked ziti (combo cream and tomato sauce) with sausage. I love basically anything with their marinara sauce in it. The flavor is fantastic! 3rd is probably the bagels with the Everything bagel and the 3 Cheese bagels being my top two. Although the Jalapeño and Cheese bagel is up there if I could tolerate the spice. After that I love the Orange Chicken. It is breaded chicken with great orange sauce that I add stir fry veggies to. Sweet and Sour Chicken is good also. Can't forget to mention the delicious enchiladas which I eat with a salad to make more of a taco salad. For most things we add our own veggies to make a complete meal. The cooking instructions have been good except we've had trouble getting the pizza crust to cook through. What seems to work after much trial and error is 20 min. at 425 in our oven style airfryer on the metal pan. Pizza should look fully cooked and cheese browning in the center. Remove, add our own toppings and then 10 more min. at 425. The second bake could probably be longer so I will try that next time. Pic attached of the end result pizza. While the very outside of the crust gets a little charred the bottom is fine and this second bake seems to help get the crust cooked. Did a calzone this morning and since it is prebaked the heating instructions worked just fine. It was deliciously crisp and could be eaten as a finger food. We also liked the spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread but the garlic bread isn't wrapped well in the foil so was soggy. The apple bacon french toast was fantastic but I would prefer no bacon on it. The bacon is thick cut so just ends up being soggy. Apple topped french toast alone would be A+. In terms of other sweets I can't have Xanthan Gum so am limited to their donuts and danishes. The filled donuts are excellent but the regular, while not being cake style (which is a plus) have a taste to the grease that I don't care for. The filled are fried the same but because of the delicious filling you don't taste the grease. The danishes are a favorite but they all come with cheese filling in addition to the fruit so make sure you choose a fruit that goes with their cheesecake like cheese filling. I had gotten tired of eating my own food and am so happy that I have Blue Hummingbird's entrees to fall back on.
