I have been very happy with Doug Parr Homes. They have many floorplans to choose from and will make changes if you want something different. They have several locations to choose for your neighborhood and good schools for the locations as well. Beautiful finish outs and large lots so you are not so close to your neighbors. My wife and I were looking for our retirement home in the DFW area. After speaking to several builders and discussing many homes, floor plans and options, we decided to go with Doug Parr Homes in Paradise Texas. We spoke to the representatives in July 2024 and were up front about coming out of chapter 7 BK that the 2-year anniversary is in December 2024, and that we could not close until after that date. He stated that he would talk to the lender to see about a conditional approval, and we signed a contract with DP with an understanding that we would close at the end of February 2025. During the signing, the representative stated that we would be entitled to a full refund of our $6,550-dollar earnest monies if: 1) We were not fully approved by the lender, and or denied later in the process. 2) If we had to cancel for medical reasons. 3) Had to cancel due to change of employment, etc. We were shocked that we received a conditional approval, but of course it came with several stipulations that included verification of employment, home had to be primary residence and verification of income. Things were going as planned as far as the schedule, until the middle of August when I was told by my employer (Federal Agency) that our offices in the DFW were being downsized and that our jobs were being relocated to the offices in Jacksonville FL location, which included relocation assistance. As a 60-year-old military veteran with almost 30 years of government service an, I had no choice but to accept the new position and assigned location that will take affect October 1, 2024, which will carry me through my retirement in February 2026. Upon receiving notice, I immediately contacted the DP rep (August 16) and the lender to make them aware. The rep stated that he would process the cancelation paperwork and that since it was a corporate relocation, we would be receiving a call from someone at DP regarding were to send my refund of the earnest monies. The lender stated that he would have to deny us the loan since we were relocating and that a 14-16-hour commute daily would be impossible. He also stated that since I was utilizing my VA benefits, that the denial would also be based on the home not being our primary residence. I contacted the rep via text on August 26 as I had not heard from anyone, and he made me aware that he was no longer with DP homes and that I should contact a VP named Michael Mints. I immediately made contact and Michael stated to me that he would discuss my situation with Doug Parr himself for approval to return the earnest monies. I was confused as I was told in the beginning of the process that I would receive a refund under certain circumstances and my circumstances met the criteria. (Relocation and not being approved for the loan). After a day of not hearing from anyone, I reached out Michael Mints again who stated that Doug Parr himself had decided not to refund me the earnest monies because in their words 'Too much had been completed already". The issue with that is that absolutely nothing has been to the land or property where our home was to be built. No dirt has been turned, no meeting with the design center, not meeting with anyone from DP homes. So that in my opinion is not a truthful statement. I reached out to Doug Parr himself who I guess thought I would be intimidated, and he asked if I was willing to meet with him face to face and asked that I provide dates and times. I responded immediately and provided several options. It's been 2 days now and I sent yet another email and Doug Parr has never responded back. In closing I would say to all especially my fellow veterans: Be very careful before signing a contract with DP homes because as you can see, they will not negotiate in good faith. For us, we are turning this over to the Lord, and he will redeem for us the hard-earned monies that is being kept from us. read more

Warranty work is nonexistent. Clinten Bailey is not a man of his word. He is one of those kids that will tell you what you want to hear, but never do it. I have been dealing with warranty issues for a year. I have had to fix most of the issues myself, from trim work, plumbing, cabinet repair and a lot of other small issues. The main issue is my property has not been properly graded......pictures attached. I really do not mind dealing with it, but when someone tells me they will fix something and they never show.....that's the sign of a POS. Clinten has a very poor reputation around this area with new home builders. This is what happens when Doug Parr hires a college guy with zero cred.......pennies on the $$$$ read more

My family and I just moved from California to Texas and bought a Doug Parr home in January. We love it! The floor plan, the area, and the fixtures are all gorgeous! If anyone is interested in a Doug Parr home let me know because I highly recommend them! Blessed to call it home read more

I contracted to have Doug Parr build a home on CR 4764 in Boyd, TX and  was excited.  However, after walking through the build site I discovered numerous issues with framing and electrical which appeared to be a disaster.  I observed load bearing beams missing proper vertical supports, not being attached.  No joist hanger or ties.  Plumbing in the attic was missing insulation.  The cabinets were mostly particle board with a few real pieces of wood.  They claim they are custom, they are not.  They are a cheap builder.  When I confronted the builder and requested my inspector come in for phase inspections.  The builder refused.  Also, the builder advised that I was no longer welcome on the site unless I scheduled an appointment.  When asked if I could come out next week.  The builder says we will see if we have anyone available and get back to you.  The builder claimed they were not finished with framing but it was suspicious since you would not install the electrical or plumbing unless you thought the framing was completed.  Also, I did not know this home was outside the city limits meaning no permitting is required other than septic/thus no city/govt inspection were being done for framing, electrical, or plumbing.  Also, many items they listed as standard on the website was in dispute after I signed the contract.  That link to the standard items was mysteriously removed from the website.  However, I knowing their business culture downloaded a copy of the page before they took it down.  Doug Parr got my 26k, but the risk of dealing with a disastrous house outweighed my loss.  Good luck to anyone that buys the home.  Also, per contract they can raise the price by 10% before you close even after you sign the contract and they don't have to fix anything your inspector finds. This will be covered up by drywall and sold. Difficult to be seen by an inspector. read more
