This Double Tree location is remarkable. It's located within 50 feet of the Port of Olympia, so you can walk directly to the port and boardwalk from the hotel. The staff is exceptional. I was checked-in by Hannah. She was incredibly friendly, informative and made arrival seamless. The facilities are very good, the hotel has a bar, poor and fitness center on the property. The rooms and very large and comfortable, also I was given a room with a port view. My stay was exceptional, I will definitely stay here again. read more

Very uncomfortable bed. Did not get a good night sleep. I'm not sure how much snow and ice this area gets but the parking lot was pure ice. No deicer used. Staff was great but the lack of sleep ruined my day. read more

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding at the end of last year. While the hotel unfortunately can't do much about the location, the downtown area did not feel safe and we were really worried about even leaving our car (and they have signs they are not responsible for any theft) let alone walking around. The pros of the location is that it is conveniently located to lots of restaurants and lounges. The hotel itself needs renovation. It's very dated and our room was not very clean. Rooms feel like you want to keep your shoes on at all times. The linens and bathroom was clean which was good, it was more the floors that were the problem. We had the breakfast in the morning which was included with our Hilton status but otherwise it's charged and not very impressive. We didn't use the pool or gym so cannot comment on that. Service and interaction with staff was minimal during our stay but we had no issues. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. There are not many places to stay in Olympia, it works be nice to have a newly renovated Hilton property to choose from. read more

I reported the filthy bathtub, shower, and showed pictures to the maintenance people, and they said that's the best we can do and they blamed the gray sand at the waterfront. I was very happy with my stay here. The breakfast was great. I loved the fresh fruit and oatmeal. Normally oatmeal at hotels is gummy and mushy but this was not. I also loved the warm chocolate chip cookies- they were delicious. read more

Bartender was more focused on discussing her garden with another patron, for at least 30 minutes. Talk, talk, talk. Even when we were ready to leave, she could not stop talking to the patron long enough to focus on wrapping up our bill. She would start writing on the receipt, then stop and talk to the same patron again. In the 1st room we stayed in: Refrigerator didn't work, USB ports did not work, screen on window was half ripped off. We moved rooms because we wanted a refrigerator that worked. 2nd room: One lamp on the nightstand (first room had one on each, and with device charging capability), nightstand lamp looked disgusting and like it had never been cleaned (on/off button had some sort of goo around it), one of the power outlets in the wall did not work, rooms still have the clocks with charging for first edition ipods. There are some good things about this hotel. It is conveniently located and has ample parking. But a recent experience has caused me to downgrade my opinion of this place. I am a Hilton Gold member, a fancy title for one that frequently stays at Hilton properties like this one. I had made a reservation the night before my intended stay. They next AM I was informed by the person that I was coming to town to visit, that she felt lousy and had a positive Covid test. I called the hotel as soon as I found this out to cancel my visit at 9:08 in the morning. They refused to refund my money and charged me the full room price. Even after I explained the circumstances and the fact that I am a Hilton Gold member. Screw them. No way in heck that I will make a reservation there in advance. Not risking losing my money again. read more

Crisis averted. Pool is central to happy family trip for family. This property advertise pool in literally its most prominent picture (see screenshots) and we booked via Expedia. We were extremely lucky to later scan reviews which lead us to call hotel and THERE IS NO POOL. In hindsight I can see multiple other families falling for same trap and that management is aware of false advertisement and they are clearly taking no action beyond blaming employees for "communication" (see screenshots). For full disclosure. After reading the fine print I did finally find a mention of pool closure. No reasonable person will spot this fine print and management obviously had opportunity to edit the search metadata, but has chosen not to. read more

The bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. There is blood on the walls. The ottoman in living room is torn up. The curtains are filthy. Half the rooms in the building are tented and are being gutted. The website advertises having electric vehicle charging and the front desk informed us there isn't charging and that they need to update the website. On top of that parking costs $10 a day which is a joke. I am just getting back into staying with Hilton and this is leaving a really bad impression. Tried to use the online chat feature on Hilton.com to voice concerns and was told they can't do anything since I was already checked in. You can't take feedback on a property after some is checked in? What a joke. I have a lot of travel booked with Hilton this year, but I might need to start going back to Marriott after this. read more

This hotel gives you all the basics that an ordinary hotel offers. Really nothing fancy or extraordinary to talk about. Room is OK, I could hear some noises outside but wouldn't describe as noisy. The beds have firm mattress which I really like. The pullout couch isn't comfortable and quite small. Location wise - close to waterfront and park, walking distance to lots of attractions which is why I chose here, but the streets close by seem very sketchy, so I have mixed feelings about the location - great that it's close to things I want to do but I didn't feel super safe there especially at night. read more

Felt relaxed! Location is in downtown Olympia in Washington. Checked in late afternoon during the July 4th weekend and the weather was in the low 80's. In fact, we were told that this temp was considered a heatwave which was going on for six weeks in a row here now. The three days we've stayed here has been nothing but dry and pleasant which is how I'm going to remember Washington, since this was my first time visit here in the state. Hotel parking gets full at night but parking on side streets after certain hours is okay without having to pay meter or be fined. Beautiful lobby with lounge area and fireplace. Large dining room where you can purchase breakfast (not sure about lunch or dinner). Easy check-in with a warm, chocolate chip cookie as a welcome treat. Friendly staff. Room is spacious and clean and no smell (very important!) and included a small fridge, coffee station, and microwave oven. Our room had two LCD TV's (one by the King size bed and one in the living room area with an executive desk complete with free Wifi. I brought my laptop so I was able to upload pictures instantly from my camera. The hotel is near I-5, the downtown waterfront and minutes from the State Capitol. Would've loved to explore more of the Capitol city but our short visit was hectic and didn't have enough time for everything. Overall, our stay in this hotel was nice and relaxing. My room was clean, and that's literally the only thing that matters to me. Apart from that, I had no trouble finding parking. Welcome, freshly warmed cookies upon check-in. And friendly staff. I opted for no housekeeping services during my stay. I was only there for a couple nights, so I didn't find it necessary. The wedding I was attending also had a pre-wedding drinks get-together at the hotel bar and their staff was more than accommodating for that as well. The location of the hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants making the experience even better. No complaints here! read more

My bathroom had grunge in the corners. When I filled the coffeemaker, something floated to the top of the water, I checked the water container, and it had filthy gunk caked up in the corner, I notified housekeeping, but when I got back to my room, there were new cups and the same old gunky machine still there. The breakfast buffet was no better than the sub-standard fare offered up at any hotel, but this one wasn't free, it cost $9.95, no surprise there were zero diners at 7:30 in the morning. My window had no screen even though I was on the third floor, if you had a kid, he or she could easily fall out. We put our leftovers from dinner in the fridge and by morning everything was frozen and ruined. There was ice buildup inside the fridge. I expected better from the Hilton. Do yourself a favor. First glance it was a nice sized room. You have to ignore all the swarms of homeless people that are within a one block radius. But when I saw this dinky television set, I was truly unimpressed. The only reason why I'm giving this place such a high score is cause if the cookie... now for the rest of the review... the staff was a mixed bag, when we got there the staff was very professional when we called they even addressed us my name which was awesome... when we came to the front desk after coming back at night with a different staff both the front desk ignored us, not even saying we will be right with you, nothing. The room, although it looked nice was horrible. The bed was too hard and the pillows were too soft, my wife couldn't sleep nearly at all and I woke up with a back ache. To top it off the breakfast was 10 buck a person AND they charged for parking in their own lot, who does that... sorry but won't be going back there. read more

After an exhausting day of work all I wanted to do was check in, go to my room and relax. I show up to this sign and no phone number or resource for assistance. I try to make the app work for mobile entry. You have to have at least an hours notice. Meanwhile, I'm stuck waiting in the lobby for now 40 minutes, just to have a room I paid over $300 for one night to sleep in. Literally THE WORST hotel experience I've ever had. Do not recommend. The location is pretty good, but the hotel needs updated. We had to switch rooms once due to non-working refrigerator and outlets. The next room also had some outlets that worked and some that didn't. The shower area is a bad set-up in which you can't avoid the cold water when turning it on. There are actually still clock set-ups in both rooms that are made for the old iPod connection. Issues with the first room were met with a dismissive attitude by the evening staff member, but all other staff were pleasant. Wouldn't stay here again, unless it goes through updates. read more

It is challenging to be a guest here. Construction is ongoing, including in the room directly above mine, and the pounding and thumping goes on long past 6 pm. Amenities are few, and everything is bare-bones budget level. Housekeeping is infrequent and there are cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in my room. Skip the morning breakfast offered (at $9.75 per person) as it will certainly disappoint. When you arrive you are likely to the find hot foods all gone. I was asked to wait as they had food cooking in the kitchen. When the food was brought out, there was no clean silverware left. And the food that was brought out looked unappealing. This hotel is really too expensive for what is offered. Let the buyer beware. read more

I find it very interesting that there are not many options for accommodations in Downtown Olympia for visitors. My BFF had her wedding at the Olympia Country Club and the Phoenix Inn Suites was the closest place for her to reserve a block of rooms for her guests. The location is close to the Farmers Market, which I love to visit every chance I'm in town. I shared the Executive King Suite with my BFF the first night. Upon check in (which is at 4 pm) we were informed that our room was not ready since their housekeeping team was short staffed. We waited almost an hour until the room was ready, which stressed out my BFF since the rehearsal dinner was at 5:30 pm. I am unsure if they comped my BFF for the room but they were very apologetic about the situation. Aside from that, the room was HUGE with 2 flat screen TVs. It was a very comfy room but personally I thought all the space was unnecessary (due to the long hallway that led to the bed). The second night, I stayed in a Double Queen Suite with my boyfriend who had no issues with checking in. This room was huge as well and I personally liked the layout of this room better than the King. Complimentary breakfast is offered here at the Phoenix Inn. Such items offered are scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, breads and beverages. I love how they had poached pears, which was tasty with my oatmeal. The DoubleTree Olympia never fails to disappoint. This is my second stay for work and both experiences were awful. The staff doesn't make any effort to ensure your stay is the best it can be. The front desk staff does the minimum to process you through check in / check out. The Press NW staff doesn't care at all. Savannah was put out by the fact that I asked for a menu. Additionally, do NOT order the wings. You can even eat them - nasty. I will not recommend this location to anyone. read more

I am shocked this place hasn't been reviewed yet. I live in Lynnwood, but have family in Olympia and sometimes I like to stay a weekend, but my family just doesn't have the extra room and I happened upon this gem! I have stayed here a handful of times and have to say it is clean and comfortable. -No funky smells here! You cannot beat the price for what you get. I had a two queen bed room with a couch, coffee table, desk and tv for $89 a night! If you make your reservations over the phone, it will cost you $99, but if you go to their website and you know you won't be cancelling your reservation, you can get that $89 price. Included in your stay is a continental breakfast where you can have biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs (get down there early or these will be rubbery or gone), waffle maker, oatmeal, assortment of cold cereals, breads, muffins, bagels, juices and coffee. There is a computer with internet access in the lobby for your use. The decor in the rooms are contemporary and not floral or drab looking. All in all a great place to stay with a clean and friendly atmosphere at a very reasonable price! And you can have a complimentary cookie and bottle of water while checking in. Removed my 2013 post but it still appears.....? I reviewed this hotel last year when it was called Phoenix Inn (above). But it's since changed.Returned to Olympia, checked-in and learned it is now a Doubletree. The facilities have been upgraded; new carpets, furniture, fixtures. A definite improvement in that aspect. The facilities are better. Looks and smells clean, no weather damage. The air system needs a bit more work. In the middle of the night, the smooth running fan sounds changed to a motorcycle-like rumble which kept me awake for about ten minutes, then stopped. This sound returned again several times. The staff is new too. They're friendly and helpful, but unfamiliar with local businesses and sights. I miss the local pride and historical wisdom of the old staff. The previous staff were really welcoming and seemed to love their work. I hope that Doubletree did the right thing, and didn't fire them? In this tough economy, doesn't seem right to let go of loyal employees. Last if all. Breakfast. A step down. No longer fresh, complimentary and welcoming. The fruit had turned, the microwave eggs were hard and rubbery, as was the bacon. But the least inviting change is that now you have to ask the (overworked) barista for your cup of coffee before paying for breakfast. No longer complimentary! And the friendly guy who used to clean the tables is gone? (I cleaned my own table, as the barista was busy counting change) For this reason I reduced the rating to three stars. I'll come back again, hoping to see more positive changes. I'll spend my meal money at a local downtown diner that one of the old Phoenix employees referred me to last time I was in town. read more

$12 for one glass of "meh" quality wine is shocking. Yikes. Appetizers were pretty good and the place was clean and quiet. But I'm still getting over the $12 charge for 5 ounces of the same stuff I can buy at a Chevron gas station for $9 a bottle. Waitress was friendly and efficient. But still. If I want to pay $12 a glass, I'll go to a real wine bar like Swing with a nice view - not a hotel lobby. read more

This is defintely one of my favorite hotels! We stayed in a huge room that seemed more like a suite than a room. Comfy beds, huge tv, lovely mirrors. They bake fresh cookies which they keep out in the lobby, oh so good! Why don't all hotels do that? The breakfast buffet was also amazing. It had tons of food (eggs, bacon, cereal, bagels, muffins, juice, coffee, tea, bisquits & gravy, the list goes on) They have a pool & hot tub, but sadly we didn't bring any of our swing gear. We came here as a large group for a local event. The front desk staff was very friendly, efficient, and accommodating. She offered the group discount even though I couldn't access the offer with the online reservation. We were given a warm cookie at check-in, nice touch. We were disappointed the hot tub was not available, however, was compensated with a free drink at the bar; what great customer service! The room was clean and spacious (it was a King room and had an office desk). Bathroom was small but all you need. The hotel is an older, low rise building; everything was as expected. The walls were a little thin, i.e. could hear voices/noises in the hallway. Breakfast was wonderful. They were able to pull together a hot breakfast earlier than they normally would to accommodate our early check out. read more
