My air vent in my room....
    Jerry W.

OK this will not be my normal in depth hotel review. As a Hilton Gold member this is probably in the bottom 5 of Hilton Properties I have ever stayed at. This hotel does not feel like a normal Doubletree... in a bad way. It's trying to be way too fancy and it's façade is showing. Other Doubletrees are very homey feeling and inviting... this one feels cold, impersonal and a little stuck up. Room 607 My bed's headboard lights and power plugs are not working. I plugged in the loose plug into the outlet and the headboard power devices are still out. The door to my room is difficult to close, the sweep is really dragging on the rug. The HVAC in the room is not efficient... the room does not cool down quickly considering the output is pretty wide. There appears to be a paper bag stuck behind the screen of the HVAC output The bathroom needs some maintenance....I was afraid to shower. I actually did not shower...as I started the hot water, the water that came out was rust color... the photo I took was about 3 minutes of letting the water run... it was way darker. Talked to the front desk and they offered to move me the the 14th floor, but I turned it down... itbwas late and I will just sleep. They dis give me a few bottles of water so I can brush my teeth. The only saving grace is the staff. The Front Desk and Food Staffs are great. Friendly and very helpful. Note the lobby does not have a shop or convenience corner. The vending machines on 2 of the floors that I checked are out of Diet Cokes. If you are using Touch to pay for drinks, they charge you $3.50 instead of $3.00. Note you need to checkin with the front desk to get the wifi password. The QRC sticker in the room is basically useless giving generic information. The resturant buffet breakfast is $21.95. So heads up Gold+ HHonors members. The prices are not listed. I did not see any microwave ovens in the common areas and there was none in my room. Not sure how convient this is.

This hotel is in desperate need of the planned updates!! Very worn and not at ALL what you expect at a Doubletree Hotel!! You have to call maintenance to get the room thermostat changed. The mattress in my room feels like a brick. The pillows are worn out. The towel bar is crooked. The closet doors are missing. I could keep going but it really is just a mess! The staff are wonderful and the restaurant had really good food. But everything else was worn and outdated. Hard pass next time I'm in town....unless they have finished the remodel!

As a Hilton Gold member, this is the first and last time I will ever stay at this hotel. If a tour company books it for my group again I will find a new hotel elsewhere and tell my group to do the same. We were forced into this hotel because that is where our tour company placed us. Because it is a Hilton, I expected much better. Based on previous reviews, the only thing that has changed is a coat of paint to hide the nonsense; but even that hasn't helped. It's almost like a slumlord painting an apartment to hide damage. I do not know if this place had a fire and the sprinklers caused massive water damage or what, but it basically needs to be renovated from top to bottom and not just have a new facade. Avoid this hotel if you can.

    Ripped carpet ancient in room.

Decrepit. Dingy. Dated. Not "D" words that would usually go with "DoubleTree". Was holding out hope, but as another Yelper noted it's hard to believe the Hilton name is attached to this. Front desk clerks were friendly, and accommodating. But failed, despite multiple opportunities, to provide the signature cookie. Based on the rest of the experience, I'd wager the oven wasn't even in working order. They did however move our room to another when we went back because of noisy neighbors in a connecting room the first time around. The rooms have clean bedding, but are worn and tired. The wallpaper is peeling. There are multiple signs of damage to walls and furniture alike. And this in one of the better rooms. Painter's tape was left in the lobby. A minor thing, but indicative of the overall lack of attention to detail that is atypical of Hilton brand properties. The lobby was one of the more promising aspects in general, looking reasonably elegant. After you pass the leaves, trash on the ground and mostly vacant parking lot outside that you think is part of a "Walking Dead" set. Took advantage of the food/drink credit to eat at the bar and have a beer. The food was decent. The fries were actually really good, and hot. The fish, well, a little overdone but not terrible. The beer choices are decent. Service was great. But that sadness. The sense that this is a hotel out of its time and long past its prime. Just so hard to escape it. On a positive note, they are leaving letters in the rooms explaining the HVAC thing, and ours has worked well enough...so far.

Great customer service... but not enough toiletries. Very quiet area which I love about this spot. Not enough spots to eat at. They didn't have enough soap or change of towels. I asked for water and I was told only 2 (16 oz) bottles of water per room. And there was a mouse in the room. It didn't let me or my wife sleep.

Got in late for a school trip and all of my friends and I were very tired and my friend gets up and slips on a huge leak. We te the office at 1207pm it is now 1238pm and we called like 5 minutes ago and still nobody has come to fix it.

3/5 Staff was super nice and the cookies were really good! But the building is falling apart. The lounge looks great but from the shakey elevators, peeling walls, damaged tubs, and dangerous windows. They need to take money from Paris Hiltons bank account to remodel this whole building. Also they charge $21 for a buffet that's the same foods you get for free as a continental breakfast in other Hilton Hotels. And the hallways smell like bad overcooked hotdogs. Do Better.

Location: Great! Very convenient to Philadelphia. Very convenient to attractions and events in South Jersey. Easy access and plenty of parking! Service: The little interaction that I had with the staff was fine. They seemed nice. It was standard customer service Room: Cleanish. It wasn't totally gross, but the staff definitely didn't pay attention to details. There was a stain on the comforter(Maybe lipstick). A different small red stain on top of the sheets. They seemed clean but that's still gross. There were little papers next to the night stand, which meant they didn't vacuum thoroughly. The fridge was either held up by a little piece of cardboard, or the last occupant dropped something and the cleaning staff missed it. Also The carpet gave the room an old outdated feeling. Price: Good for under $100. It wasn't worth more. The price along with the name is what drew me here in the first place Would I stay again? Maybe. I don't know how other hotels in the area compare? The Cleanish room wasn't so bad to make a big complaint. But when ur traveling on a budget The price is Nice!!!

I actually found the shower to be a good pressure and stream. When it comes down to it, that's the key things we look for in a room. The downsides are beyond that. Primarily it is the location. This is an odd place for a hotel. If visiting this suburb for work then it is fine. If visiting the Philly area as a tourist then the location does not work great. Attractions are across the river ($5 toll each way). The airport is not nearby. The place is kind of confusing to find so depend on the GPS. The night I was there two different weddings were going on so convention/meeting facilities are available. I did hit the bar and found it well stocked and friendly. The music played was pretty decent until someone loaded up the juke box (or whatever it's called these days). There is a restaurant in the lobby but did not try. In all it is ok if this is where you need to be. Just be sure this is where you need to be.

First, they got rid of the complimentary coffee machine in the lobby which really effected the workers who need to get out by 5-6am,when nothing is open. They reduced the frequency of dumpster pickups, so there's always garbage strewn about the parking lot. They fired the three most experienced, helpful front desk administrators and replaced them with people with no experience and unpleasant personalities. For a hotel with several hundred guest rooms, there's most often only one housekeeper on duty, who cannot possibly do everything she's assigned. Again, for such a large hotel, there is but one maintenance guy who cannot possibly do his job effectively, although he really tries without complaints. The general manager and assistant general manager are wonderful, but it seems that their hands are tied. There is so much more, folks. I can no longer recommend staying at this hotel because the latest owners don't seem to give a fuck about you and me.

I have stayed in countless B & Bs and have contacted Select Registry (the B & B directory that highlights luxury inns) four times to suggest myself to become one of their reviewers. They haven't responded, and maybe they shouldn't hire me because I'm brutally honest, picky, and have high standards when it comes to inns. Inns have to pay a hefty fee to be featured that book, so I'd probably piss off their paying inns. But I'd make a lot of them happy, too, because when something is good, I let the world know. But I digress. Let's get back to Haddonfield Inn. I'd like to give them 5 stars because they are a dog-friendly inn. And when I called to book the room, Nicole, the innkeeper's daugher, was such a sweetheart. I really, really wanted this to be a fantastic experience because it's close to NYC, they take dogs, and we could return time and time again. Yay for NJ! We were off to a GREAT start! Right? WRONG. We get here and I go to the restroom to relieve myself. I see that the maid has not yet cleaned the floor... there's hair and dirt on the floor. I know, I know. I'm picky, but for $259 a night, a clean bathroom would be a nice touch. I told the innkeeper (I was very nice and charming about it) and she came to clean it herself. It took her 2 seconds flat. She ran back out and called my name. "Angela, you owe us another $20 because you are only staying for one night. Can I have your credit card again?" Huh?? Now normally an extra 20 bucks would not throw me. But we were told when I booked the room that it was $259 and were sent the receipt in a follow-up confirmation. So I asked her about it and she just mumbled something about the fact that Nicole made a mistake and she was just going to have to charge me the extra $20. I told her that this is not what was told to us when we booked and I had the receipt to prove it. She turned to me and said, "Well, if you aren't happy about it, you can just leave." I stuck my 8-month pregnant belly out (just in case she missed it... doesn't she know that you aren't supposed to mess with a lady who is that pregnant?) and said, "I'm not unhappy, I'm shocked at the way you are treating your customer." She knew she was wrong and after mumbling some comments that I chose not to hear, she said she'd reimburse us the $20. And, to her credit, she wrote us an apology note later in the evening. I would have given this place 2 stars, but because Nicole was such a nice person to us and because they accept dogs, I give them a freebie star.

I was immediately impressed that we were greeted by the owner & innkeeper for the evening as soon as we parked. They gave us a quick tour of the house and showed us to our room. I really liked that Inn is kid friendly. We have a 2 year old daughter, and I've heard most B&B's do not allow small children. Since this was practically the only lodging available in Haddonfield, we were very thankful that we were able to bring the 2 year old on the trip with us. Drinks, snacks, and wine were available at any hour of the day. We really liked our room, but it got pretty chilly on our first night. We could not figure out how to turn on the fireplace in our room. We found out the next morning that the gas was off in the entire house, which was why we couldn't turn the fireplace on. However, they quickly remedied the situation and our room returned to a comfortable temperature in no time. I would return based on the location and the super friendliness of the staff. We really enjoyed our stay.
