That's about the only reason for the drop in stars as I couldn't drop it half a star. (I can't justify a 5 star review with her involved, she had to be saved). Anyway, on to the next week. We reserved a long weekend through Booking and somehow Booking confirmed with us and not with the hotel. Long story short and a very hot and tired grandson trying to get it fixed, Homewood Suites saved the day and accommodated us straight at the counter even when Booking said they had no rooms to be had. We had a pleasant stay after all. The on site restaurant has delicious food that will be brought straight to the room. The pool could have been a lot cleaner. Not sure why there was so much styrofoam floating in it. Maybe the current construction. But thankful they worked with us. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Oh-the room rate at the counter was much cheaper than Booking had given us to begin with. How about that!

Nice big rooms and great breakfast in the mornings. The rooms look and smell like they had been new renovated (new carpet smell) but they didnt really upgrade the looks of the room. The staff was super helpful and helped us with our shipping of boxes with Fedex. Walking distance to a couple restaurants and super market make this an ideal place to stay.

It turned out to be a good launch point for a trip north towards some very nice attractions. The hotel is in a strip mall kind of area, but I will say that it's one of the better such places you'd ever find yourself. The food options in the neighborhood include some top notch ones like Toni's and Malika. The hotel is off the main road enough that noise was not an issue, and had enough palm trees around it to feel like you're in the Lowcountry. I got presumably upgraded to a suite, which had a nice kitchen. The bathroom was strangely cramped in design, and I am not a particularly large person. Overall, it was a comfortable experience in a good location. I did utilize online checkin and the hotel's app, which works, but irritatingly my late checkout did not register and I was theoretically locked out at a time that I did not anticipate. I say theoretically because in fact the door to this room did not shut reliably and was fractionally open anyway. But for all the convenience of online checkin on the app, the fact that it allows you to request late checkout and didn't actually grant that irks me. Might as well just check in the old fashioned way. I left with a decent, but mixed experience.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, and quick drives to Shem Creek (12 min), Boone Plantation (12 min), and downtown Charleston (17 min). Breakfast was fine but repetitive; luckily First Watch is steps away if you prefer to pay for something beyond the standard continental breakfast. There's also a bar in the lobby if you want a drink or coffee outside of breakfast hours. Otherwise, Target and Trader Joes are both nearby if you need anything. Parking was easy in the attached garage, but just note you have to enter the hotel from the first floor to access the hotel elevators which is a bit odd if you park on the second floor of the garage. One of the two hotel elevators was out of service for part of our stay, but waits were never too bad since the hotel is only six floors. Overall, super convenient, stress-free stay and we'd absolutely opt for Hyatt Place Mt Pleasant again.

Be Aware if you are given one of these rooms you will have to go up the stairs as there is no elevator in this building. The room was small but very nice. There is a microwave and coffee pot provided. A small fridge is beneath the microwave. When we entered the apartment there was a TV to the left and a small, 2/3 people couch opposite it, with a coffee table in-between them. There is a short hallway going to the rear of the rooms on the left and the bathroom is halfway to the bedroom. The bathroom was unique as it had a very old wooden beam just outside the shower. There is NO tub if that is your preference. The bedroom had a King sized bed. The bed as all of the ones we have had in a BG location is very comfortable. There is no restaurant on the property, but there were on both sides of the lodge being immediately next door. Two doors to the right leaving the Lodge is a breakfast place we really enjoyed. Location is the major selling point. Leaving the Lodge out the front the City Market is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 blocks to the left. It can be seen standing by the street. You will be located almost directly across from the Customs building to help you visualize where you are. We located the nearest bus pick-up location, this being the Green route is also close, about halfway to the Market. We discovered if you leave via the back gate at the rear of the Patio you will be about 2 to 2 1/5 blocks from Tommy Condon's Irish bar. Have written a review of this place also. We never seemed to enter or leave without at least 1 of the staff greeting us. We had to store our bags on the day we check-out we asked if they had a location for our bags. They did and helped us store them until time to leave. Will also say that the concierge at this location was more helpful with information and advice than most, especially at Myrtle Beach.
