Two takeouts here and I am extremely pleased! The prices are good and serving size large. The workers are incredibly kind! The first time they served me water while I waited and this last time I got a really cool Asian inspired calendar for the new year! The chow mein was the one dish that left me wanting more. It was full of crisp veggies and pork but was very bland. Soy sauce didn't even help. It didn't even taste like the veggies really, more like earth if that makes any sense. The orange chicken was lightly breaded and had a slightly spicy sweet sauce. This was the fam's favorite. The mandarin beef was my favorite and beef is my least favorite protein! The meat was thinly sliced and super tasty! Sautéed with water chestnuts and onions. Great combo, not spicy or sweet. The fried rice came with lots of sliced BBQ pink on top and a good amount of veggies, pork and egg in the rice. So far this place may be my favorite Chinese in Bend! read more

We have ordered take out from here 3 times. The first time was okay - nothing great. 2nd time the Mongolian Beef was dried and tasteless. I can't remember the other dish we ordered, but it doesn't stand out as being anything special. The 3rd time the Orange Chicken was so dried out that it was difficult to chew! The Hunan Beef was a little dry but marginally better. The vegetable egg rolls were decent if a bit greasy. I do like that they give you the choice of brown or white rice, and their portions are quite large. However, I would gladly prefer smaller portions that were of a higher quality! I've never yelped before, but I can't help it this time. I got takeout tonight and discovered the worst sweet and sour chicken I've had in my life. The chicken was heavily battered and fried so long it turned to greasy chewy rocks, topped with 3 soggy slivers of onion, green pepper, and mushy canned pineapple. My kids didn't even eat it, and they eat anything fried. My mu shu vegetable was ok, until I bit into egg shells. I'd been more satisfied with cup o' noodles and an apple for $0.75. My husband went to pick up our Chinese food last night and right away... I knew something was different. My Orange Chicken didn't taste the same like it had in the past and our Potstickers looked like dog food. My husband ordered Kung Pao Chicken and ate about half, I didn't touch my orange chicken except for the one piece, and stored it in the fridge in case it was just me and he wanted it for lunch later. Later that night, I heard my husband aggressively throwing up and moaning. He said he had been up all night with stomach cramping, diarrhea and vomiting. He was literally hanging onto the toilet all night. Neat less to say, non of us slept that night, my husband had to call out of work, lossed pay, and I called the restaurant at 7:30am thinking it would go to voicemail. I wanted to call early and leave a voicemail because I didn't want them to think I was trying to take advantage of them and wait til after 5pm when I got off. Surprisingly, the same guy that I placed my order with picked up. I was very nice and said Hi hello, I just wanted to let you folks know that I believe there may have been something wrong with our dinner from last night because my husband has been extremely ill all night. The guy says, "Oh well, I haven't heard of any complaints from yesterday!" I said, "Ok, well I'm calling you now sir to let you know.?" He yelled and said, "Well then take your family to the Hospital!! If you think my food is poison, then report it to the Health Department! NO Refund for you because if I refund you then I'd have to refund everyone that complains and then I'd run out of business!!" I was appalled. I couldn't believe he treated me that way over the phone. Save your gut, do not waste your time and especially do not waste your money!! I never write bad reviews and I really did not want to write a bad review with a local company. I pulled up the menu from online and saw that they do not use certain ingredients and our family appreciates that. Online menu showed us that are total was $30.02 When we called on the phone to order, the man was rude on the phone and the one thing I asked for to please be in there was sweet n sour sauce for the all the appetizers we had ordered. When we show up to pick the food he said the total was $37. We asked why the price is different, he stared at us with a blank face, handed us a menu and said "new menu"..... Ok, so we have to pay more because you raised your prices but did not update the menu online! Your problem, not mine!! But of course we paid for it. Then when we got the bags of food they were tied up, so I asked if there was sweet n sour as well as spicy mustard. (Not much to ask for) I remember back in the day when you did not even have to ask for those condiments. He said "yes, everything you wanted is in there" Sure you know where this is going... Neither of those were in there. Meat was dry and chewy! We're not picky eaters. I have a home of boys and they did not even want it! We own a business across the street and I find it sad when people run their business this way but to top it off he was incredibly rude the entire time! We remained polite. Tried Double Happiness restaurant after reading a great review in the Bulletin. Have returned several times, to try a fair number of dishes, each being better than the previous one. The meat (chicken in particular) is quality - not the dark fatty/grissol chicken some restaurants use in the breaded dishes. The food arrives hot and sizzling, and the aromas get those tastebuds going every time! The beef is tender, shrimp fresh and properly cooked, and the veggies are never overcooked, After trying 4 Chinese restaurants in Bend over the past year, with disappointing results, I had just about given up on finding good Chinese food in Bend. This is a place that I highly recommend, and will enjoy bringing friends and family here, in the future. read more

Our experience involved walking in to see 2 men standing in the back, one picking his nose as he saw us, and not stopping! Then, we were waited on. The menu's were crusty with food. The woman brought our tea. It was weak and like hot water. The soup came and wasn't hot... barely warm and the egg flower part of the soup had a green-tinge to it and it tasted odd. When our food came, the chicken was rubbery and tasteless... This was a special mid-day date for my son and me and we chose this restaurant and were very let-down. We ordered food for delivery, after an hour, I called back and got transferred to someones cell phone who wasn't even at the restaurant. I was told my food was on it's way. 20 minutes later I called and got the restaurant and was told again that my food was on it's way. The food arrived about 20 minutes after that, cold and missing an order. Called back to get my card credited for the missing item and got cell phone guy again. I was told that next time I ordered they would just give me that item for free. Gee, thanks, but I won't be ordering from you again, ever. We have lived in Bend for about 8 months and have been looking for a place to get Chinese Carry Out. The restaurant is extremely clean and the portions are huge. My wife got a combination plate of chicken and vegetables with steamed rice and I had the sesame chicken. I opted for fried rice and it is the real deal and not the yellow, I'm not sure what type of meat this is variety. It is obviously a family run joint and they were extremely pleasant to talk to while we waited for our food. This is definitely going to be a go to place for us. read more

Our family was driving from Calif., to Spokane, WA, staying overnight in Bend. We found this restaurant using Yelp. We arrived late but was greeted by the owner and warmly welcomed. We placed our order and was pleasantly surprised with the quality, flavor, and portion size. We will definitely return to this restaurant when we make future trips through Bend, OR. We read the reviews before visiting this restaurant and were please by our service and the food! We ordered food to go and waited there for about 10 minutes, which is an excellent about of time. We had a 2 year old with us waiting and the ladies working at the time were so nice and gave him a cracker packet and a fortune cookie to occupy him with (thank you!). It worked like a charm! You get a TON of food for the amount paid and it was very delicious. I ordered a combo meal and substitued the Low Mein for the Chow Mein ($1 more) and it was delicious, just like the reviews said.
