So this is the second time I have booked with this company. First time was on a bigger boat with an air-conditioned inside area. The boat I was on today was not air-conditioned inside, but still a decent size boat. The larger boat has places to lay down in case you're not feeling well. The smaller boat does not. In both instances there was only two people helping out when you needed assistance both times there were someone new and unexperienced. Fortunately for me, I know how to fish, add a new hook as needed, and takeoff my own fish so instead of waiting around, I often not only helped myself but helped those around me. Very discouraging since they do not have hand rags. Being this is my second time I was aware of this so I brought my own this time around. The spool on the fishing rods are awful... I'm not certain how often they change the line out or get out the bubbles in the lines. Several people around me were having issues. On both cases there was only one large catch of the day. Most of what I caught were grunts and Porgies- both which do not have size limits. I kept only the large ones. - about 1'0" The boat I was on today only offered squid and shrimp.- no fish for bait. My suggestion is to check which boat you're on and if there's air-conditioning., bring some hand towels/rags, nail clippers, and your own needle nose pliers. I almost forgot to mention that my most recent experience, one of the guys was walking around, smoking the entire time and for someone who has severe asthma and heart conditions. Not a good trip. The drinking, cursing, smoking, and womens jokes was totally out of control. Very disapointed!!! Some caught plenty of fish and some caught very little. Very unprofessional and I would not take my family out with this charter. The deck mates were not professional and did not give advice to novice fisherman until the trip was over. "I can tell you why you did not catch any fish and went on to explain what they needed to do" One time a persons rod got stuck and said hey Im stuck please help me. And the mate said " I'm stuck to I"m stuck on this boat with you!" Wether joking or not don't say this to people you never met and they are spending hard earned money with your crew. I could go on but this is enough. The entire crew needs training on customer service. read more

Drove from Texas to go on their 12 hr overnight trip. Was probably the worse fishing trip ever. Captain drove out for over 5 hours. We got to fish 20 minutes, he drove out another 30 minutes, we got to fish another 20 minutes, he drove out another 30 minutes and we got to fish for our last 20 minutes the he started the long 6 hour trip back to port. Not one nibble, the rod I rented worked but was not fully functional. My friend caught 2 and they gave them away and he did not get any when we returned to port. Would never recommend these people. Not enough seating for everyone with people sleeping all over the cabin. I did not pay for a 11 hour boat ride, I paid for a fishing trip. Captain had no idea of where the fish were, like it was his first trip. Defiantly did not care about his customers. read more

been fishing these things for years from Pensacola to ft myers. first time on the eagle out of Clearwater. went on a full day trip. the staff at check in was very friendly and helpful. The cook was very rude and disrespectful. the Deck hand Cody made the cook look like a superstar. Cody was foul mouthed and promoting his own business more than the double eagle. So much more negative I could say about Cody but I'm not going to waste my breath. He was working alone so I would expect a bit of stress from him but still not to the level that he took it. The captain which I think was Dave as his shirt said was very friendly and helpful. He seemed to help Cody when we were fishing. i tried this boat over Hubbard Marina because the last several trips out of Hubbard seemed to be less than average. Been on the boat several times and usually have a good time. Mostly catch grunts and a few other stuff in between. The captain and owner is great and super nice. The half day trip is ok for littler kids. The crew and mates were all very nice but one mate who is the reason 1 star rating. The one fishing mate with short red hair seemed to have it out for my dad since we got on the boat. The mate kicked a fish at my father, went out of his way to be a jerk towards him, when he caught a fish that needed to be put on our stringer he just kicked the fish towards the ice box and walked away, and the POS raised his voice and got an attitude with my 3 yr old son when he did not walk through the door fast enough to go inside galley area. I restrained from causing a scene since it is not worth ruining a nice family outing and my son didn't seem to move on quickly, it seemed this mate with the short red hair was looking for a fight. Sadly, my father even has a friend who works for the owner who was out on the full day trip but we will likely never go back out with these guys because of this. read more

Had a great time with my two sons and wife. Took the 8 hour trip and had 60 fish filleted (and through at least 10 back that were keepers and all the non-keepers). Even had a dolphin hanging out with us looking for the non-keepers. Shawn was great. Funny, helping everyone and worked his butt off. We plan on using them every year when down visiting. Looking at the 12 overnight trip next time. I would suggest bringing a cooler which is allowed with plenty of water on hot days. They also sell water and made to order food onboard that isn't badly priced. 8 hour I would only suggest for 12 and up. 4 hour for smaller kids. read more

I've gone on the all day double eagle 2 boat twice now on trips with my dad, and I've got to say it has been such a blast. Each time we have caught a bunch of fish and plenty to take home to eat. Our last trip we saw easily ten varieties of species caught, grouper, snapper, porgie, heck even flounder (etc..). The deck hands have been great each time and the captains know their stuff. This was an awesome day on the beach. I was able to take my bestfriend on this charter with me. The dealership I work for won an all day charter. It was the best time ever. My bestfriend and I didn't catch much of anything, but being on a boat all day is never a bad day. I am looking at doing this again very soon. On the way back we had dolphins ride the front of the boat. Best ending to any day. The crew on deck were amazing, there any time you need. Plus they would grab what you catch and set it aside for you. When you get back to the dock they will fillet what you caught for a ridiculous small fee. read more

I had a great time with my Dad who was visiting from out of town! The boat wasn't too crowded with the COVID-19 scare going around. We went on the 1/2 day charter in the afternoon. All in all, we caught about 12 fish between the two of us and released almost half of them. There is some "feel" associated with using the rods, but with experience it seems to get better as the day goes on. We moved fishing holes a couple times, which was kind of a bummer as I would starting hitting on Sea Bass and other fish then we'd be outta there! There is some joking around with the staff, if you are uptight you could get offended I suppose, but we jokes right back and it made the day increasingly pleasant! I'd definitely go back again! Went deep sea fishing with the family yesterday. Good fun. But we all highly disliked that not only were the guests but the crew of the ship were smoking cigarettes through the all day deep sea fishing in front of us and children (who are not smokers). Okay, my bf invited me to this for an event his work was doing, at first I was extremely skeptical because I'm on the prissy side I can't lie, I don't like to be hot and I don't like to get dirty. This was seriously so much fun, I was sad it was over by the end (and we were out for 8 hours). The staff was so helpful they teach you how to fish at the beginning which naturally I screwed up something with the line at first and they fixed it without making me feel bad. I caught like 4 fish, the guys on the boat really love their job they get really excited when someone catches a fish, they will clean it for you and everything. By the end I was baiting my own hook and fishing like I had been doing it for years or something. This is a fun adventure for someone who has zero idea what they are doing. We went on the morning half day trip and we're very impressed. They serve some good homemade sandwiches and are very very friendly. The staff were super helpful and they were very knowledgeable and helpful. We enjoyed the trip and caught quite a few fish. Recommended for all ages! The staff will also fillet your fish for you if you want it to be, making it easy to either take or or take to a restaurant. Also it is very fairly priced, maybe the cheapest fishing trip available at Clearwater. We paid $62 for the half day trip which included our poles and tackle. I just came back from their 30 hour trip. No bunks were provided. The captain decided to make three stops before getting to the Middle Grounds. These stops were not very productive. Had he gone straight to the Middle Grounds, we would have arrived just before dusk. This would have been perfect timing. Also, no Greater Amberjacks were caught by anyone. This is unacceptable for a $400.00 thirty hour trip at this time of year to the Middle Grounds. When I asked the deck hands if the captain would let us know which stop was good for Amberjacks, they told me that they could not get a straight answer from the captain. I have been on many 30 plus hour fishing trips on these types of boats at this time of year and there were many Amberjacks caught. The captain never made any announcements to let us know what to expect, where we were going etc. read more

Just came back from a day of fishing on the Double Eagle 8 hr trip. We are 4 guys from New York and we are all not to happy. The problem was not that we didn't catch fish because we did. The problem was the service on the boat from mate. We are all seasoned anglers and require virtually no assistance in rigging baiting or any other aspect of the game. I can tell you right now if you are not a regular on this boat don't expect any service. If we saw the mate 3 times all day it was a lot. At one point my buddy had a decent fish on and called for a net. He was completely ignored and had to hoist fish up by hand. Another time one of us called for mate using the term hey mate and was told hay is for horses. Not a way to bring back return customers. Finally had him fillet fish. Kept us till the very end and fish was inedible because of so many bones. By the way we all tipped him because that is the name of the game. read more

Perfect day of Florida deep sea fishing on a Saturday morning in early March thanks to Double Eagle Deep Sea Fishing and its Double Eagle III boat. There was actually a lot less people than I would expect for a Saturday morning half day trip so we had a lot of flexibility on which side of the boat we wanted to fish at. The staff was extremely helpful and quick to bring your fish to your respective stringer when fish were caught. The bait of choice was primarily cut up squid with a few pieces of cut up fish. The end of the day catch total was 7 white grunts (aka snappers) which we had filleted for us to take to a nearby restaurant to get friend up. This time of year is off limits for red groupers but we caught about 3 or 4 of them as well. We were very satisfied with our daily catch and would love to come back another time of the year, maybe when groupers are in season and legal to catch. I especially enjoyed the upper section of the boat which showcased nice views of Clearwater and also served as a nice spot to lay down and take a rest on lawn type chairs on the way back in to the docks. read more

Great half-day fishing. Price inexpensive. Morning cruise so parking available and covered by fishing fee. No license required. Caught about ten fish apiece - terrific deck hand/assistant - he did everything, including cleaning the fish. One hour out and one hour in. Bathroom typical fishing vessel size but clean and functional. Spacing appropriate for Covid. Small snack bar inexpensive but you can bring your own cooler. I suggest bringing a couple of old towels for keeping hands clean, although deck assistant removed and stringered fish if one so desired. I would use this boat again for a 'lazy' morning of fishing. read more
