We decided to work with Funerals at sea to help with our Fathers memorial after our last experience with Hubbards Marina. John who runs the Funerals at sea and his wife made sure everything went according to plan. It was a little rough on the waters but went smoothly we didn't feel rushed or uncomfortable in the process. Honestly Captain Mike and Brandi were amazing and definitely made the experience even more memorable. Capt Mike slowed down for us to see some dolphins not once but twice and Brandi was so incredibly sweet she helped the kids make necklaces and held their hand for them to throw flowers in for my family. Definitely a way better experience than last time and I was able to finally put my father in his resting place. read more

My friend was visiting from Ohio and this was the perfect treat for her. The tour guides were amazing. We booked a dolphin cruise out of Hubbard's Marina and things went very well. The booking people were friendly and helpful, and the shop was clean. The boat crew, including Captain Zack were both engaging and entertaining with good knowledge of the cruise area. We saw lots of dolphins, jumping Rays, and an Osprey nest with a mother and two fledglings in the nest. We were also given information on the expensive homes, boats and history on this route. Overall a great 90 minutes on the water, worth the time to do. read more

We had such a fun day exploring Egmont Key and visiting the historic lighthouse. It was our wedding anniversary and we had been married at a lighthouse in Wildwood, NJ. It was fun taking the trip to get another lighthouse pic to celebrate. Our capt. Robin and first mate (I should have written the review sooner but I think maybe her name was Bre?) were great. We didn't have the most amazing weather but luckily Mother Nature held off the heavy rain until after we were docked. The crew handled the weather like the pros they are and kept us entertained. We often have guests visit us at our Florida home and I am sure we will book again when we are looking for something different to do with them. We will likely try the fishing next! read more

We went on The Dolphin Quest boat ride today with Captain Jim and Kirsten. We always do the Dolphin Quest boat ride when we come to Madeira Beach (probably have done it 10 times over the years). Today was the BEST time we have ever had. Plenty of dolphins to be seen but the additional information from both Kirsten and Jim made it such a great experience. Also very affordable drinks and snacks available for purchase. Music playing was also great... not so loud as to be annoying but nice for the boat ride. read more

One of the crew on my recent 39hr trip was acting suspicious (yelling at captain, quitting work) and had to be removed from the boat by the coast guard. This resulted in the boat coming in from the deep water to meet up with the coast guard boat and leaving the ARS and gag area, which was really the point on the trip. The boat did extend the trip due to the time lost, but extra time fishing for mangroves and inconveniences around getting back late didn't really make up for it. It would be nice to get a partial refund or discount for a future ARS/gag trip, but that wasn't offered. read more

We took the ferry to/from Shell Key Island and found these guys to be thorough and efficient- you'll receive an email outlining exactly what to expect the day of your fare Directions and parking were very clear We reserved the 10:00am departure and returned on the 12:30 I happened to find a lovely shell and the guys offer to drill a small hole and make a necklace for you, which really made it a memory They do have snacks, shell bags, drinks, etc for sale on board in case you forgot something and a Venmo for tips The driver slowed down and got us some dolphin sightings on the way back so well worth a good tip! read more

My girls and I took the 10 a.m. ferry out to Shell Key Island, leaving from the Ft Desoto boat docks. As someone who struggles with anxiety in new experiences, I was impressed with how thorough and well organized the itinerary was. It enabled me to pack and prepare with confidence, arriving relaxed and ready to enjoy the day. The check in process was clear and simple. I'm glad that I followed the advice of the itinerary and arrived an hour before departure. It gave us plenty of time to get checked in, use the restroom, and organize our belongings. Our Captain and First Mate were very friendly, upbeat guys. We were offered a selection of snacks, drinks and shelling bags for purchase. A little information about our surroundings. The only thing I would hopefully suggest is for education to be shared with everyone about why it's important to leave shells that have living creatures. Our trip back was peaceful. Our First Mate offered to turn everyone's favorite shell into a necklace for them at no charge. Our Captain spotted a pod of dolphins and took a very slight detour so we could all share the excitement. I was grateful to learn there was a Venmo QR code to enable tipping for those of us who don't travel with cash. Tipping is optional, but I really enjoyed our trip and appreciated their kindness and helpfulness getting me, my 2 kids and all our stuff on and off the boat. read more

We really enjoyed our ferry ride to Egmont Key. I wish I could recall the captain and first mate names - but the first made had a beard and long braided hair and the captain was a silver haired very kind middle weight gentleman. They were informative along the way to and from and the captain even paid for our sodas on the way back in b/c we didn't have cash. The marina itself was easy to access and mostly calm. The check in gentleman was a bit unfriendly and angry in his delivery of orders- but perhaps he had good reason. Just not the most friendly start the day. All of what he said was likely valid, it was just the angry tone in delivery that felt off. All and all, I would definitely book again if we come back to the area! read more

Honestly I am so disappointed to be writing this. So far I have been on two trips with Hubbard and can say both trips leave a lot to be desired. The first one was a 12 hour snapper trip on the 21 of August. The issue I had with that trip was the crew only focused on the rear and completely left the front of the vessel to fend for themselves. Leaving multiple people with broken lines, tangles, stuck on the bottom and many other issues without any assistance. To the point I had to step in and assist people due to some waiting over 20 mins for help all while the captain stay in his chair playing on his phone. Then at the end of the night when it got time to tip the mates they would get rude to passengers who didn't tip a high amount. Then today I went on the 10 hour trip to see if maybe it was a fluke and this time would be better. I'm glad to say the mates were much more helpful shout out Dennis he was great. However the captain who was the same as my snapper trip I had issues with again. He just didn't want to leave the area he started in and threw out the day would only move at most 200 yards. The reason I would guess that is because we spent the entire day circling an anchor boat and would only move spots at most going 3 miles per hour. Then it was a mess he would drop anchor and it would hold us over the spot for a few minutes before it swing off dramatically and he would not do anything to adjust us back on the spot. Which lead to the already slow bite to constantly dying quickly. However I doubt the captain even noticed due to him being glued to his phone again. I spoke to a few other passengers and multiple said they were upset by the captain's actions and said they would not be returning. I also will not be returning which is disappointing because I had such higher expectations for supposedly best charter in Florida. read more

Great fishing trip on Friday on the Hubbard Marina FlyingHub II 12 hour extreme fishing trip! I caught a 24 lb American Red Snapper and a 36" Gag Grouper the we had to release because Gag Grouper season is closed. Every one on the boat limited out on ARS. Captain Joe did a great job at putting the boat over fish all day long and Skipper might be the best mate and hardest working mate in the universe. read more

The Island beaches aren't that great and broken shells along the shore is rough on the feet. A person can find shells for free at any other beach. Personally not even close to the $40 ticket price. This was my first trip with Hubbard's, and unfortunately it wasn't the experience I was hoping for. I booked a 12-hour trip for approximately $158. The boat was scheduled to leave at 7:00 AM but didn't depart until around 7:30 AM. Throughout the day, the captain moved between multiple spots, which reduced the amount of actual fishing time. The trip also returned earlier than expected. Fishing was slow overall, and very few anglers on board seemed to be catching fish. While I understand that no charter can guarantee fish, I expected more effort to maximize fishing time given the length of the trip. I was also surprised by how much emphasis was placed on tips by some of the deckhands. I brought my own bait and tackle, handled my own fish, and even assisted nearby anglers on occasion. One deckhand attempted to help refresh the water in my bait bucket but accidentally dropped and damaged my bait bubbler. Despite this, I was still approached for a tip afterward. To be fair, the crew was generally polite, and I understand that fishing conditions can be unpredictable. However, between the late departure, frequent moves, early return, and overall value received, this trip did not meet my expectations. Based on this experience, I would likely choose one of the other charter options available in the St. Petersburg area for future trips. read more

Booked the dolphin cruise & used the $5 off online discount on 2 tickets. Park across the street from Hubbards, bring the ticket for validation & you pay only $7 & park there all day. The young lady who led the tour was very witty & informative along with the other captain. We saw several dolphins, adults & a baby. We didn't spot any manatees. Once we came back to the boardwalk, we used the 10% discount to buy icecream at Kilwins by showing our cruise tickets. You also get a discount at the restaurant & the souvenir shop. You can walk under the boardwalk to the beach which was nice since you didn't have to $$$ & spend as much time as possible. I wish I had done other cruises too. read more

Staff were extremely rude from the start, giving poor direction about check-in and where to wait. Definitely do not need to show up 1 hr prior to arrival like the booking suggests. This is an honest review. I went there with my family to explore town. The shop attendant called us enroute to make sure we make it on time; the captain and crew were great and funny with the tour. However, the dolphins were barely seen (none jumped). Not justifying the cost of $29 a piece. It was a 3:00 o'clock trip. The woman at the tickets counter yelled at my family for not seeing a UPS track behind trying to leave the lot. I don't recommend a business not respecting their customers! read more
