It was a perfect experience for us!! Captain and Terry(?) were friendly as can be. They made conversations with those of us who wanted and left others be. It was a nice clear day for sunset sailing on this late February evening. There was a light breeze which made it a bit chilly, but they provided cozy blankets for us. Water is also provided. Fantastic trip to Shell Key with Captain Mike. The kids found lots of sand dollars and pretty shells while snorkeling. They found several conch shells too but most still had residents inside them. We went first thing in the morning and had the place all to ourselves well away from where the ferry drops off tons of people. On the way back we saw a couple of different groups of dolphins. The Captain was able to get the 2nd group to play in the boats wake and it was amazing. Captain Mike was very knowledgeable about the area and did a great job. Highly recommend! read more

What a great experience!! My girlfriend and I arrived a little early and had dinner at The Club: Treasure Island, where you depart from. We were the only ones there since we got there pretty early! Dinner and drinks were great! Then we had a few more drinks at the outside patio bar while we waited to board! Captain David and Kurt were great, knowledgeable hosts! We could not have asked for a better duo for the excursion! We were treated with dolphins while we sailed through John's Pass and eventually into the Gulf. The sunset was magnificent!! It was an AMAZING experience from the time we pulled up til saying good bye. Captian Ritchie and Julia were very friendly and informative about the boat and sailing. It was our 1st time every being on a sailboat and we were made very comfortable. It was also our 30th Anniversary, Captain Rithie had a bottle of champagne chilled and waiting on us. I recently chartered a 2.5 hr cruise to introduce my wife to sailing. The website apparently has two boats a 55 ft schooner and a 42 ft Whidby ketch. I have had no contact with the schooner. The ketch was what we scheduled. The people at Suncoast are very nice and respond professionally to contacts. Unfortunately, the sailing experience was terrible. The boat, a 1976 model) was, to speak kindly, every bit its age. (Looks way better in distance photos). The boat appeared marginally maintained and positively reeked of diesel fuel. Smelled more like a commercial tug than a sailboat. My experience with sailboats is that they should not smell of diesel unless there is either a leak or a spill. (See above comment re maintenance) 70% of the sail was motor. We did not leave Boca Ciega bay. The bay winds were very light and I, of course cannot hold Suncoast accountable for that. However, a full keel heavy ketch needs 5 knots of wind to move. What sailing we did was barely moving with lots of loose sail luffing. To be honest, if that was my first sailing experience, I would say Meh! Not for me! Suncoast seems geared for the tourist trade. I am local and could have rescheduled anytime for better sailing conditions. However, in my opinion, the boat is a loser and I wouldn't repeat. UPDATE I have upgraded my overall review due to the outstanding response of Suncoast Sailing management.. Ritchie (Suncoast owner) called me this evening and expressed apologies for our negative sailing experience. I am highly impressed with his professionalism and timely response to a negative review. He, obviously cares about his customers as well as his business. He generously resolved the issue to our complete satisfaction, and although I can't erase the experience, Suncoast deserves a top rating for top-flight customer service read more

The 2-hour cruise was so relaxing and memorable. The sailing music played added to the experience, and soda/water was provided. It was easy to find for the Lyft driver to pick is up after the cruise, and they do provide a card for those with cars to park free. Well worth the money to enjoy a safe sailing trip. read more
