I have been visiting West Ajo Feeds for at least 15 years of my life. My mother has been coming…read morehere long before that even, when the amazing Chuck was still here and running the place. My first memories of West Ajo include a purple horse brush that I desperately wanted to purchase so I could groom my horse, Patches. I saved up my allowance for weeks in order to purchase this amazing purple brush. When I got up to the counter, Chuck rang the brush up and, the child that I was, I had not accounted for tax. Embarrassed, I said I didn't have enough -- and I remember Chuck laughing, saying how unfair taxes were, and he told me to take the brush home anyways. I was approximately seven at the time and I'm now 30 and still remember this. This is the kind of feed store this place is. Heart and compassion. Family run. Amazing. West Ajo is a family run business that sells all kinds of different livestock feed with a smile, warmth, and the character that you won't see at chain stores. They don't sell toys and clothes in their store but if you come in asking "What is the best feed for my horse" they're going to be able to help you out. I'd take great advice, knowledge about their products, and the kindness they have over a chain store any day. Their prices are competitive. They have a decent selection. And they'll always be there for you if you have questions, need something, or want to post something on their awesome bulletin board. They also support the community and have donated to 4-H events, to the annual Tucson Poultry Pigeon and Fancy Fowl Show in November, and to many other events. Without family run businesses like these, I would hate to think where we'd be. Definitely stop by and say hello to Vinny and the crew at West Ajo Feed and Supply!

We arrived at 10am, checked-in at U-Haul counter, nice, friendly & informative. We went over the paperwork to be sure we knew the process. Our Truck was waiting & ready when we walked outside with the a/c on (thank-you) - did a walk around (brand new vehicle) less than 300 miles. Smooth process, only suggestion would be to require vehicles be topped off. I understand the process of return at level u got it, but would rather start on full then worry about gas before I load up. Other than that, best U-Haul experience yet- Thank-You !!! Love the store itself!!!

I was shocked!! Only paid $78 for my pups groom, which is a great value.

The staff here are incredibly knowledgeable and always patient with my many questions. I really appreciate that when I call to check if something is in stock, they're happy to look so I don't waste a trip--such a time-saver. Their prices on bermuda and alfalfa pellets are very competitive compared to other tack shops in town, and the location is super convenient to my barn. While some items in the store can feel a little on the higher side, I think it's worth it for the selection, convenience, and the peace of mind of knowing they've got what I need most of the time. The store itself is packed with a huge variety of items--not only for horses, livestock, and pets, but also some fun things for humans too. They also carry new and used saddles (mostly western, with some English), and if your horse ever needs something for health or injuries, chances are you'll find it here. Holy Cow really is a one-stop shop, and it's quickly become my go-to place for everything horse-related.

The moss I picked up cost three times what it does online. I wish I had checked online first. But what really turned me off is that I was going to donate one of my rat litters to them (donate, NOT sell), and when I brought them in the "rat expert" said they had ear mites. Funny, I had never seen any sign of ear mites like excessive scratching or scabbing, but I took them all to see the small animal vet. Of course, there were no ear mites. I had a feeling, and I don't know why, when I walked in the door with them that they weren't going to take them, and I don't know why. They treated me strangely--a little rudely though I called ahead. Whatever the reason, it's too far to drive after confirming just to get told, "Oh, we don't want these." They do have a lot of merchandise, and the employees seem to care for the animals. Just price compare before going and take everything the employees say with a grain of salt.
