This was our first trip to Double Dip Gallery. It was my birthday weekend and we wanted some ice cream to celebrate. We really enjoyed the art that they had displayed. As we talked, they mentioned that they just had a school exhibit recently. I am sorry that we came to late to see that, also. It is great to see that they are so involved in the community. Now for the first part of the name. The ice cream was excellent. I never would have imagined that they could have so many flavors. It will take us quite a while to work through them. I had a Mint Heath cone and my wife had a Coffee cone. They were wonderful. My first time eating Gunther's ice cream, also. (We just moved here recently). All in all, a great time and wonderful ice cream. We will be visiting many time this summer. I think that I will have Cherry next time. read more

I came across this place by chance and was drawn to it by the impressive gold leaf work on the outside facing windows; it's clear that a lot of thought and effort was put into the design, and the attention to detail is second-to-none (heck, even the garbage can was hand painted!). The inside is no different: amazing artwork fill the walls leading down to an ice cream counter. Again, the menu was hand lettered and it was just refreshing to see how much care was put into the look of the place. I think they nailed it. I was unfamiliar with the brand of ice cream they served (Gunther's), so the owner was kind enough to let me sample a few flavors. I tried the flavor of the month (Tin Roof Sundae), Birthday Cake (their best seller), and my usual go-to, Rocky Road. All were phenomenal, but I ended going with Birthday cake. Delicious! I was so excited about my find that I had to bring my family later that evening. Everybody enjoyed it and we look forward to adding the Double Dip Gallery to our weekend outings. read more

I really like this place... owner very friendly and ice cream is great... Very reasonable prices for high quality ice cream... My new go to ice cream spot in lodi read more

This place has been opened for 14 months, and I was never aware of it. As some of you may know, it's a small art gallery that serves, GUNTHER'S ice cream!!! I can't express how I felt when I found out. Being a Stockton resident and having to travel to the gunther's in Sacramento satisfy my cravings, I was extremely excited about this place in Lodi. It's located right across the street from Lodi's city Hall building. There are benches across the street if you like to enjoy your ice cream or 50/50 freeze with a scenic view of a memorial. The owner was super sweet & there wasn't a long line out the door because not many people know about this hidden gem. I'm sure when I spread the word I will be standing outside waiting in line at my next visit. They don't have all the flavors like the Gunther's in Sac, but they have quite a handful to choose from. I can't wait to try the Salted Cameral Oreo one coming in April! read more

Cool place in downtown. Very good, creamy ice cream. Several great flavors and some unique ones. Try the Petit Petit Sirah mixed with any chocolate. I tried it with the double chocolate and it was excellent. You can try samples. read more

Bomb ice cream & sorbet! I had a scoop of pinot noir sorbet and a scoop of chocolate ice cream because who doesn't love wine & chocolate?? It was an amazing combo! Can't wait to go back. All their ice cream & sorbet is made by Gunthers! read more

Absolutely the best ice cream in the entire area. This is an ice cream store for adults who can really appreciate what good ice cream is. The service is excellence personified and looking at all the artwork while you are enjoying your treat is also fun. Highly recommend. read more

Ice cream and an art gallery? Sure, why not! We found this place when looking for desserts and found out it had Gunther's ice cream! They had some cool flavors (i.e. Pecan praline, birthday cake, blueberry cheesecake) but also the usuals (Oreo, double chocolate, coffee). The best part was that they had mini cones and kiddie sizes, which is the perfect amount of ice cream for me. The owner was super friendly, let us sample a bunch, gave us suggestions (he will customize a milkshake for you if you'd like), and he even let us try a new flavor from the back (taro!). It was nice to look around the art gallery as we ate our ice cream. A little above my affordability for art but some of the flower paintings were very pretty! read more

Can't go wrong with Gunther's ice cream, a Sacramento institution available here in Lodi thanks to Double Dip. On top of that, fantastic artwork and vintage collectibles to admire and purchase when you visit, and always great customer service. So very glad this shop is continuing in business under a new owner who plans to maintain the same business model. This is a downtown favorite! read more

Great shop serving well-preserved Gunther's of Sac. Very consistent portions which are weighed on a scale. My only complaint is the owner's odd rule of only one flavor in a pint. The Gunther's in Sac will give you three flavors in a pint. read more

Gunthers Ice cream is amazing! Also fun to look at all the art in the studio. We always try a new flavor when we go in!

My favorite ice cream place. Worth the drive from Stockton. I get the mango 50/50 with vanilla ice cream. Fruit freeze made from real fruits. I like it. read more

It's bad when you have to purchase a gallon, to stop yourself from stopping everyday on your way home from work to feed the family ice cream! Can't beat the flavor of the month, 2 of my faves, bananas and rocky road...Boom Banana Rocky Road! But let's face it, all the ice cream is good here! read more

Words can't describe this place, best bet is to go ahead and check it out and try the flavor of the month while your at it.

The Best Best ice cream. I had Birthday cake and it felt like I was truly eating moist, delicious cake and ice cream. Service was great and so helpful. They are 5 stars for serving great ice cream, they have a nice art gallery....but I minused one star because I really wanted to sit down. There aren't seats....it's more of an art gallery and the ice cream is just the great surprise read more

I was really impressed with both the art and the ice cream. From the gold leaf on the windows to the watercolours on the walls, the craftsmanship is apparent all over this place. Also, the Gunthers ice cream is off the chain. I tried the birthday cake and a Sunday, both were packed with intense ice cream flavour. read more

This hidden gem is worth the walk from the farmers market or movie theater to get delicious ice cream and look at great art. Took some ice cream back home for my mother in law, because she loves carrot cake and she was pleasantly surprised. I really like the lemon custard and the hubby got a small box of rocky road and mocha almond fudge. That's right I said box, like a Chinese take out box. I feel it's got an old school charm. Good Service from Megan as well, made our experience even better. read more

This place had two things that I love dearly, art and ice cream!! What a great idea! Talk about a sensory overload...eating delicious ice cream (Gunthers rocks!) while looking at amazing paintings. This just may be my new happy place! The only downfall is that it's not in San Francisco (where I live). Good thing I visit my friends in Lodi often. read more

Cute little shop but over priced ice cream that isn't even frozen hard. It's like the owner is trying to save money on electric bill or doesn't want to scoop hard ice cream. When I'm paying big money for ice cream I don't want it half frozen in the cup . read more

We herd about this place from my boss. So we drove from Modesto to check it out. I love ice cream and art. So we check it out and the ice cream is amazing and the art was cool too. Everyone was nice. We loved the butter brickle ice cream. read more

This place is really cool. When you first walk in you see a really nice variety of art. I learned that they teach some art classes too. In the back of the studio is one of the best hidden gems in the area, an Ice cream parlor that service Gunther's ice cream. If you have never tried this brand of ice cream all I can say is its amazing. During the holiday season I always order the Gunther's egg nog, which is the best I have ever had. read more

Best ice cream. The staff is friendly. The ice cream is delicious. I enjoy supporting a local business.

What a great addition to Lodi! I live in Walnut Creek now, but was in town last month for the First Friday Art Hop! When I found out there was a gallery with ice cream, and a very interesting flavor of the month (Peanut Butter Salted Caramel Oreo I think?) I was beyond excited. The art was beautiful... A lot of very colorful abstract pieces. And the ice cream was fantastic! I had the birthday cake flavor, but will be back soon for Lemon Custard. My sister and I both were sad we'd only got one scoop and were tempted to go back for more. :) Definitely worth a stop, even if you're just passing through. read more
