We are Tampa locals and love the Ybor area but this guy who hosts karaoke is so rude and mean to people trying to have a good time it is embarrassing. He makes girls cry and let's the wrong people sing songs they never signed up for, as well as singing over people who do not sing well. Dare I say this was my favorite bar in all of the ones I did on a recent pub crawl? Double Decker was not too crazy and had a fun atmosphere to boot. The DJ was playing some upbeat tunes before the fun -- the karaoke -- began, which was all sorts of horrible, funny, and awesome. The bar has a different feel than a lot of other spots on Ybor -- it doesn't feel wild, it doesn't feel stuffy, it doesn't feel "divey" but is more like a bar you'd just frequent to simply hang out and catch up with friends. The Double Decker was the first bar of the FSU Pub Crawl from this past weekend we chose to patronize because it wasn't too cray cray from the madness yet. As I walked in, my memories of Ybor City from twenty plus years ago all came rushing back to me. I used to come to this bar religiously almost every night when it was the Irish Pub. So much so, that I would hang out with some of the bartenders outside of the bar, on their personal time. It hasn't changed too much except now it is a British Pub and there is karaoke...ok maybe two major changes haha. One thing has remained the same, it is still a good time. From the friendly bartenders to the stiff drinks, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Flacco made us this fabulous drink called the "Skinny Blue Bitch" and it was delicious because it wasn't too sweet or could you taste the alcohol in it! I don't generally bar hop in Ybor too much, but I will definitely be back. Great bar and fun times! read more

Sadly, this could be an incredible karaoke bar. It's so hard that the DJ is a stupendous dickhead and stifles every good vibe that arises within the bar by having him and his friends perform metal HARDCORE covers of "Blank Space" (great song). It's painful. The crowd is always ambivalent and just wants fun performances and they are superseded by him and his bros screaming into a mic. Edit since my friends and I have been going here for years: this DJ is a monster. The last time we went he sang three songs in a row. The audience was barely moving. None of the bar seemed to be aware it is karaoke. It reads more like a sad metal-reject's personal stage for him and his friends. The DJ also said the n-word numerous times in songs. Why 4 stars? Because, my how you've changed. --- --- --- When I lived in Ybor, I would come to Doppel Decker to escape the craziness, and just enjoy a quiet pitcher and a game of darts. I often wondered how Doppel Decker stayed in business, considering there were almost never more than 10 people inside when I would stop by. Welp, last weekend... it was like I was in a new universe. It was incredibly lively, but just under the level of being too crowded to where it was hot and uncomfortable. Some might say... perfect. The karaoke was awesome. In between karaoke's, the DJ was hilarious and played a great mix of songs from alt rock to hip hop. I believe the owners are german, so they have plenty of good Hefeweizen in the house. Another key to my heart. If I still lived in Ybor, this would be my favorite bar. Another stop or two in here, and I might be upgrading to 5 soon. It's nearly a full-on love affair. read more

We stopped in while bar hopping for a friend's birthday. We never left. The karaoke was great, and it didn't take very long for out name to be called. An upscale dive bar. Drinks were reasonably price. (Especially for the Ybor strip). Service was very attentive for how busy it was. Everything was rather low key. However, we left at 1 am. I can image they have their crazy nights too. No real "special" drinks, but they can make all the classics and offer beer as well. All in all a quality stop and we will be back again! read more

I no longer live in Tampa but when I did this was my favorite bar to go to! Whenever I'm back visiting friends I make it a priority to ho to the on the weekends. The bartenders are very friendly and polite and I absolutely love the karaoke. The only sad part is that I used to be here every weekend for a year when I lived in Tampa and signed up to sing karaoke but the line was either super long or the DJ didn't do a good job of keeping a list and calling people one by one. Very disappointed about that but the karaoke is still so much fun so my friends and I are usually singing along anyway. I like that they have an upstairs that overlooks the bar and stage and also has some couch areas to relax in. They also have an outdoor area in the back that has a tiki vibe but is also fun! read more

This place is so much fun. If you like Karaoke and you can't sing, this is the place you want to be and share your non singing talents lol. Really good deals on the drinks for more singing power. The selection of songs was endless. I even had ton of Britney Spears songs to choose from I loved it. Points are taken off for lack of cleanliness but hey this an average ybor bar with decently good service. This place falls under my random fun place to go on a week day when there is no crowds of rowdy people. There was a small amount of patronage so service was great, even had a free drink due a promotion that was being done. The staff is okay but the person claiming to be in charge clearly doesn't know how to operate a business. Also, they've been charging any customer who uses credit/debit cards a surcharge of .50 cents pretty much since they've been open which is illegal in the state of Florida. I'm pretty sure someone needs to call OSHA and a health inspector because there looks like several violations. During my visit I noticed most the beer coolers either have broken doors or broken glass and do not look they've been cleaned in years. She signed up with the DJ DoUcHeNoZzLe and after waiting forever she never got called up. Apparently you have to pay the guy or you don't get to sing. We stopped here as part of an Ybor Oktoberfest pub crawl on a Saturday evening. We stopped at 14 bars that day and not only was this bar a blast when we swung through the first time but it was even better when we decided to make it our night cap. Its a medium size place with a few German touches around, dim lighting, tvs for sports and a full bar. At first entrance, the most obvious thing we noticed was the cute little blond bar owner singing "du hast" on the karaoke stage. Um ya, when was the last time you entered a bar and saw the owner belting out German lyrics to get the barflys pumped? My bet is you haven't. The bartenders at Doppel Decker are fantastic. The "what can I get you", then not see you again till your glass is empty type of bartender is non-existent here. From the moment me and my friends sat down it was nothing but sexual innuendos and them fighting over who got to yell DAS BOOT with us next. And yes, they have the infamous boot and it is as glorious as you may think. They actually have 2 versions: Das Boot and Das Pussy Boot (this is the smaller one, but still a metric shit ton of beer and only $10). For either one of these you must yell at full volume your boot of choice before you perform the chug. For the latter boot, you must also have the anatomical part or else you'll get tore apart so bad you may start to believe there's a mangina in those ranglers. They've also got karaoke on Saturdays which is great fun. I don't frequent Ybor often but I may start taking special trips just to check this place out more often. See you there!! read more

I visited here on a Monday night with a girlfriend of mine who happens to love karaoke. First impression was that it was lively with great music, but that impression kind of melted away when the DJ was not a very nice person. She had to put in a request three times because he kept "losing" the papers. It wasn't crowded at all and the place was only about half full while we were there. There was only one other singer who came on while we were there. The DJ also told her it was only a set list from his book and then later on told her he had other songs to choose from, but we were leaving at that time. Here's the thing. Ybor is not a primary area of night life hangout spots for me. I think that there are a few hidden gems in Ybor in terms of night life and Doppel Decker is one of them. It is a great spot to have a work Happy Hour, a low key night out with friends or a stop on a pub crawl. The bartenders are great and very personable. The drinks are your standard bar drinks and the prices are reasonable. Less expensive than you pay in South Tampa or a West Chase bar. I really enjoy the atmosphere. The clientele is chill and though strangers, they really are like friends you have not met yet. I'm not a karaoke fan in terms of performing, but I do enjoy a good show. I went here a few weeks back. I'm new to the area and LOVE karaoke! It was during that terrible tropical storm time. I was surprised that anyone was there at all. The few people who did come out, were good singers and the small crowd was supportive. I didn't stay long, but I'm thinking about coming back again. The main issue I had was with the two drinks I ordered: a Washington apple and a whiskey sour. Those were the most watered down drinks I've ever had in my life! I was shocked and really didn't know what to say/do. I've never had such crappy drinks lacking in the alcohol department. What do you actually do in a situation like that? Will NEVER go back here and give them my money. First off, the DJ is completely rude. Will not break a smile and treats you like crap if you want to sing. Both times my boyfriend has done it, he was a completely a**hole to him. Then, I ordered a vodka cranberry and it was my first drink of the night and it was a water and cranberry. So obvious that it was not all vodka in that bottle. When I moved to the area, the first think I looked for was karaoke. I tried this place during the week. I was greeted with a moderate crowd, perfect for weekday partying, GREAT bartenders, excellent karaoke selection and GERMAN BEER!!!!!! I returned a few weeks later but on the weekend for my "karaoke fix". The party was hoppin', the place was almost filled to capacity. The singers were better than I expected and I got more GERMEN BEER!!!! The bartenders wasted no time flirting and playfully harassing we and the other women at the bar (We didn't mind). There was also an outdoor BEIRGARTEN in the back I hadn't noticed during my first visit. They had Dub Step, Techno and karaoke. I like this place. I don't love it, but I like it. There isnt anything special about the set up here, it's the typical 2ish story bar in Ybor. What makes this place special is the people. You normal crowd here is anything but normal. This ain't MacDintion's. Eclectic is the best way to describe the atmosphere here. Make nice with the (normally hot) bartenders & you'll get taken care of. There's usually live music & the crowd is full but not overwhelming. This bar is more often a miss than a hit when it comes to beer. I like IPAs. I often end up getting a bottle. However, by comparison, it is not bad if you mile malts. Liquor assortment is more than enough to make up for my hoppy needs. This bar is where to go if you like Karaoke. Wednesdays and Fridays. They have a lovely set permanent stage, and fun karaoke masters. The crowd tends to sing more country and classic rock, although all in all... its pretty diverse. They have live music on Saturdays. Literally came here to visit a friend bartender and I would give 5 stars for him only. I went to use the ladies room and the bathroom lady tried to tell us if we didn't tip she would kick us out without even putting soap on our hands like just because we are human and had to use the restroom we were going to get kicked out.
