Update: They said they don't do custom cakes anymore. They should really take that off their name.

It's always a treat to dine at Pea-Fections a local favorite for many years now locally owned and…read moreoperated by a couple here in town second generation foodies. He is a culinary professor at the local university and she runs a great restaurant. The salad was great lots of fresh ingredients and dressing. The corn crab chowder was excellent perfect combination. Best soup they have in my opinion it belongs in the flavor town Hall of Fame. And the lemon blueberry cheesecake did not disappoint homemade lemon curd, whipped cream, nice flaky crust, and very good flavor profiles blend it all together. Very quiet and nice dining room lots of seating and the service was great. Tuck, away in downtown just a few miles off the highway with your detour if you're out and about.

This being a soup-salad-sandwich place, I had a half-sandwich with soup. The famous crab-corn chowder was just okay--I didn't really taste any crab in the broth, just some strands of loose imitation crab. I found it thicker than a usual bisque sort of soup: although that's reasonable by clam chowder standards, this broth didn't quite taste like anything. I also found the sandwich nondescript--the hard-boiled egg was nice, but the ham, cheese, and pita all seemed premade, and their combination didn't seem to add anything.

Yesterday I brought my kids for a Saturday morning breakfast. This was Graze's first weekend after…read moretheir reopening this past Wednesday, so I want to start off by saying that I realize they are just getting back into the swing of things. First off, this is such an inviting, cozy little spot in a beautiful historic building on Main and the girl running the front counter was very sweet. My sons and I assumed the only food available was what's put out in the display cases. They do not include other food items on their menu board. That being said, we each ordered a caramel cinnamon roll. I ordered a hot chai latte (delicious!), my eldest ordered a hot macchiato (very good), and my youngest a hot chocolate (a bit on the watery side...not much flavor). Had their full menu been visibly displayed, my two hungry teenagers would have definitely chosen something else. After ordering, we sat at an available table and waited for our cinnamon rolls. They were brought to our table in a few short minutes. I assumed since we were "dining in" that they would have warmed the rolls prior to serving, but they came out room-temperature making them a little on the dry/hardened side. I'm sure we could have sent them back asking that they be warmed, but we didn't want to be a bother as there was now a short line of customers waiting to be served. They still tasted good and I'm sure they'd be delicious warmed up and maybe a little larger in size. Regardless, I'm happy Graze 1885 has reopened its doors! It's so nice to have another alternative for breakfast / lunch downtown. My only suggestions would be to 1) ask the customer if they would like their food warmed up, 2) consider an alternative way to display the full menu...a digital menu board that can be updated as needed would look very nice. Oh and placement of a customer-accessible trash receptacle would be great! I look forward to frequenting Graze in the future. :)
