This has been my primary care facility since I was a child. Love my PCP she's amazing. However, I went there today (a Sunday) because their urgent care facility is SUPPOSED to be open 9-12pm. Their website states that. The signs by all the doors state that. When you call their main number, it states that the urgent care is open from 9-12. When I showed up at 9:45 all the doors were locked and there wasn't a single light on. Open at 9am where????? read more

Good for anything except Dental. Receptionist never answer the phone . When they do answer they been telling me there not accepting new patients call back next week 4 years straight .I guess you need a inside connect just to get on waiting list. read more

Went into urgent care on a Monday morning for a foot infection and was seen by Dr. Rau-Murthy in under 2 hours which is a very short wait for walk ins. She was professional and friendly and quickly diagnosed me with an infection and sent antibiotics to the pharmacy for me. I am from out of state and was nervous to go to an urgent care but it was such a great experience. Highly recommend this facility! read more

Have been a patient since 2021, and my experience with them only seems to get worse with time. First red flag, Dr Cheng made an error on a form I needed in order to have my driver's license reinstated. Needless to say, not only was it rejected directly because of her, but her mistake cost me thousands of dollars and time and stress I didn't have and need. She then left the practice, and I was stuck with a nurse practitioner who had no business caring for a 42 year old diabetic with specific needs. Was finally placed with Dr Anuka Das, who wasted no time in messing up a Prior Authorization and leaving me without a critical medication for nearly 3 weeks. Meanwhile, she connects me with a 'diabetes doctor' named Dr Spacht, who directs me to an endocrinologist who can't even see me before 2025, then proceeds to schedule me for an appointment with barely 12 hours notice, never bothering to inform or consult with me. It's quite literally one stressful mess after another with you guys. The toll your practice has taken on my mental health FAR outweighs any health care you have provided in the past 3 years. Oh they're definitely still 1 star! Decided to go in for my first Covid vaccine. Well they automatically schedule you for your second dose. I call up to reschedule for a day or 2 earlier and had the displeasure of conversing with a woman I'll refrain from saying her name in appointments. As she tried to talk to me in her rude and condescending tone, I had to "kindly" point out, it's not what you say, but HOW YOU SAY IT!! Her response was "so you want me to just cancel the appointment?" I can offer some "How can I help you today" classes because it's clearly needed! read more

I've been going here off and on since I were a kid. I used to hate it .. especially the dental staff.. but I just went there tonight and actually had a really positive experience. I was in the optometry department and every employee was professional and polite. I was very happy with my experience, excluding the pharmacy. They were too busy socializing to have customer service. But kudos to the optometry staff ( both receptionists were great .. the doctor and the tech were also very professional.. the lady who fit the glasses was extremely personable as well). Great experience.. I just hate the parking situation lol.. read more

I an having a medical issue that i would like to discuss with my PCP but apparently DHHC is promoting urgent care vs Primary Care as it takes months to obtain a visit with you PCP. Rather than promoting continuity and quality of care DHHC promotes fragmented inconsistent care. If the caseload is to high then apparently you need to increase your staffing to continue to provide QUALITY and CONTINUITY of care. I have been going to DHHC for over 30 years and have gone from being able to have a visit with my PCP if i have a problem in 2-3 days. This now takes 2-3 months or am told to go to Urgent Care to see a provider who knows nothing about me and I know nothing about them. Do you think there is a problem here? I would truly like to know what your interpretation of primary care and continuity of care is? read more

My wife and I recently changed insurance less than 2 months ago, and we have yet to select a PCP. She's been fighting off some sort of respiratory illness, and after having chest pains and difficulty breathing we got on our insurance website, and DHH is super close and takes our insurance. Cool. So I call for an appointment. The operator is really confused, keeps asking who our PCP is. Once she figures out we don't have a PCP currently but would like to, she tells us we can't get in until January. I ask if it is DHH policy to turn away sick people, and after putting us on hold 3 times to talk to different people she tells us we can come into urgent care. We come in to urgent care, wait, and then they told my wife she can't use urgent care unless I'm a patient with a PCP there, contradicting what we were told over the phone. And now she has to go see an emergency financial advisor for no good reason after she sees a doctor. Why was this so hard for DHH to handle? We have insurance and have a high degree of health literacy, and getting in for a simple visit was incredibly difficult. Way too difficult. I can't possible recommend DHH to anyone at this point and we have reconsidered using DHH as our PCP and will go elsewhere. Which is sad, because it's so close to us. *** UPDATE: I emailed a complaint to DHH and the message came back undeliverable because the email listed on their website for complaints doesn't work anymore. Dorchester House is definitely not perfect but I've been a patient here for the past 10 years and I can't seem to leave. It has everything. Dental, Eye, Adult Medicine, Physical therapy and many other services for their patients. They have a pool and exercise classes available. The doctors are friendly and helpful. My only gripe is appointments and prescriptions. I've waited a week or so for a prescription to be re-filled and sent back to my pharmacy. I've learned now that I need to plan a week in advance to get a prescription re-filled. Parking can be a pain. The lot next to the center is tiny and you're lucky if you get a spot quick. read more

2 stars because all the doctors (eye, women's, primary) have all been very good to me and professional. Lose 3 stars because the front desk is incompetent and have so much attitude for no reason. I work in customer service and I never give anyone a hard time, but these people are so rude, over the phone, in person, etc. I told them I had a bad cough for months, and need to be seen ASAP. However, she goes; you can't unless your primary care provider changes you over, like what? I've done this before in emergencies and I'm pretty sure any doctor is capable of diagnosing a cough. She just goes "go to urgent care" like thanks. Throughout my whole 21 years here, I've never heard of this. Appointments take forever to book, prepare to wait a month to be seen. Sad to say, I'll be seeing someone else to avoid any further conflicts with this place. read more

I understand most companies make you press this and that to get to a live person, most allow you to by pass by pressing zero ... NOT Dorchester House, their phone system is so convoluted, it's not funny. First, you get greeted in several languages ... and no way to skip. and the slew of sub-menu ... and the good part, they friggin hangup on you, or put you on hold long enough that you gave up - after you worn out your number keys Recently, they changed their phone system, and it's not any better, it's worse. I left messages on their prescription line 3 times and still not getting my meds. Fed up, i insisted to speak with a live person and after being bounced around, i finally got someone ... who told me the new system is terrible, they are not getting complete messages. In the past, you can just leave the info and 2-3 days, meds are ready. Now you have to speak clearly and press # speak again and press # and ##### In between those #s are beeps and that's where things get messy. I even spoke with a manager and asked if they can do anything with their new phone system, she said no, and to give it a chance. Me don't think so ... i am shopping for a new PCP at a different health clinic where i their phone systems doesn't have a dozen sub-menu. read more

Dorchester House is a lot more than a medical facility. The community needs it for the space that it allows youths and adults alike to come together and use the gym and the pool in various programs and activities. The medical team there is top notch and are so accommodating, i would know i always forget my appointment times and they are perfectly fine with it. They treat me thoroughly and makes sure there are always follow ups to follow my process to recovery. The Vietnamese and Spanish speaking staff are plenty to help the reflecting community. read more

An emergency occured and I went here....believe me I was kicking and screaming but they were the urgent care with Saturday hours at that time of need. Ummmm, you basically need to be a patient there or you'll be charged over 100.00 on top of your service fees. They could careless about my insurance, it was horrible. ...Never wanted to put one last review before I gave up to come here and found other better clinic since 10/2016. However, I received their bill now for a charged from that month for other visit. Tried to tell them to use my payment, which I paid for last visit, but not seeing Doctor, because I had appointment with Doctor on that day, but I had been waited for more than ONE HOUR. When I checked in with one Staff there, who DARED to say that someone waited here before me for more than 2 hours. I was extremely shocked with that kind of response, then I asked her that meant my waiting time was nothing, She challenged me to talk with her Supervisor. Even after I talked with her Supervisor, she just explained for Doctor's delay schedule, but didn't apologize for their terrible response/customer service. I was so disappointed and left without seeing Doctor although I paid a co-pay ahead. On the day I called them, they could not see this charge on their record at all, but it was shown in my bank statement, then I told them I would tell my credit card Provider to dispute that transaction. I wrote in a claim to Provider and waited, but still paid what I owed DotHouse in advance the day after. Receiving a voice message from Dothouse today to tell me that they could not dispute that transaction. It is really weird!!! I feel happy to make a right decision to "run away" this clinic not too late: Urgent Care, Lab, and Staff on second floor, where I complained during time of receiving services here. And now their financial department. Too tired to deal with them. NOT ANYMORE. I am disappointed by the doctors in urgent care. I went in initially with flu symptoms I had been experiencing for two weeks. Was tested and came back negative. I was also instructed to come back in two weeks if symptoms persisted. She prescribed me Flonase. I had to go back, and the doctor this time also looked in my mouth and ears, and ran additional tests. She said she couldn't see pus in my throat and therefore could not prescribe antibiotics... aside from how severally red my throat was from four weeks of coughing and sneezing, there was clearly pus and an indication that antibiotics should be prescribed. I left without a resolution from this urgent care. Went elsewhere and began an antibiotic regimen and I am finally getting better. I just have a hard time with the idea that doctors could send you away after struggling for so long with no solution. This impacted my ability to go to work, which is my biggest complaint. Had this been addressed properly I would have been healthier, sooner. They were definitely friendly, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, I won't be going back. read more

The worst care I have ever been given. Dr Roy tried to kill me. Remove all medicines I had been on from drs from McLean hospital. I was hurting my self sleep walking on Suboxene which she told me was the new way to treat chronic pain. Haha then instead of putting me back on meds that had worked for 4 years she wanted me on methadone. What. I have had not drank in 15 years and took 4 percs 5 mg a day. Ridiculous. Took away and stopped all other meds on me. Stopping all my meds suddenly. She abandoned me because I disagreed on her treatment plan. Also she has ruined my relationship with my daughter and grandson. She broke hips law. Don't go here because when I complained they all backed her. She is not experienced enough does clearly not understand addiction. Oh and the drs that filled in were rude . One dr segregated me with how many times did you call here yesterday. Only reason I had to keep calling is nobody was returning my calls on meds. And Maureen lies about talking and leaving me messages that were not true. Don't go here. Manet health Quincy great. The dentist office here is also the worst ever. The lady's at desk chew gum and don't look you in the eyes. They are miserable. 2 year wait for dentures. Try Boston university dental school and Boston medical for teeth. Much better. I had one front cavity fixed it broke the next day. Next appointment to fix it was months away they stink!!! read more

Waste of time. Don't go here if you aren't a patient and need urgent care. I went here this morning and was told that I could not be seen because I'm not a current patient. I informed the receptionist that I read the following on the website before coming: "Can I be seen in Urgent Care if I am not a DotHouse Health patient? We are able to see non-DotHouse Health patients if your insurance company allows you to be seen at outside facilities. Our financial aid and registration staff can work with you to see if you are eligible to be seen." After telling her this, I was still told that I would not be seen because I'm not a current patient, even though they explicitly say on their website that you do not need to be a current patient. Two stars because it is in a decent location for the neighborhood if you are able to become a patient. read more

My review is only for the women's health department so I can't speak on how the other departments run, but I've almost always been seen within 10 minutes of my scheduled appointment time. If you receive prenatal care from a midwife at Dot House, you can choose to give birth at either Boston Medical Center or Brigham and Women's Hospital. My BWH midwife, Sundyna is attentive and caring and I highly recommend seeing her if you are looking to deliver at BWH and live nearby. The parking lot right next to Dot House is awful. Don't even bother trying to park there because the spaces are tight and there is only one way in/out. I'd recommend coming earlier and finding a 2-hour street parking spot or walking here if you can. read more

Years ago the Dot House would have gotten 1 star. Since moving back to Boston 8 months ago, I have to say the quality of care has changed dramatically. There is still NO PARKING at this place but the doctors have changed. I bring my daughter here for routine pediatrics. The nurses / doc couldn't be friendlier or more attentive. I waited 10 mins and was able to get in to see the doc. It was great. Nice improvements!! read more

We've taken our 7 year old here since he was adopted as an infant and have really liked the medical care he's received. His primary 'physician' is Emily Feinberg, N.P. and she is fantastic! Great doctors and nurses! Sick visits you're never sure who you're going to get, but they're always great. 24-hour nurse on call for phone advice is also great. Unfortunately, there are some downsides. All of the administrative side that we've had to deal with have been pretty bad. Finding someone on the appointment line who you can understand and is helpful. They only book out about 6-8 weeks and it can be tough to get an appointment. I always get 'Call back next Tuesday and try again'. We took the boys there once for dental and won't go back. First time there and they wouldn't let us go into the room with a 5 year old and 6 year old. In hindsight, I can't believe I didn't just walk out! Eye care was ok. Have also been members at the pool, but finally gave up because we could never find out what the schedule was. read more

This place sucks do not go there. I'm switching over to Neponset Health Center. I got a bill in February for a visit I had in June 2016. Had I would have gotten a bill sooner I could have gotten the money from my insurance company to pay the co deductible. I cancelled my appointments for them as I am an unhappy patient. i can't possibly say enough about the quality of care i have received at dot house. after spending 18 years at another well known health center and getting the runaround about my chronic headaches i finally switched to dot house and within a year was diagnosed and treated. on top of that i have received top of the line counseling, family planning, and even accupuncture all covered by insurance!! they have financial counselers on site to help sort through the confusing commonwealth care systems, and while you may have to wait for an initial appointment, it is well worth it for the quality of care. i have never had a primary care doctor make me feel like she was personally invested in me and that i was not just a file. i hedged a bit when i found out they were affiliated with boston medical center, but when i needed major surgery, i was amazed by what a state of the art and top of the line hospital they are. i really think BMC has become one of the top hospitals in the city. they certainly have the latest equipment. and yes, a pharmacy on site open till 9 mon-fri, and sat 9-1pm. an eye clinic with discount designer frames...i paid $60 with lenses for my last pair! they also have full dental services which i have not yet used, but plan to. smoking cessation counseling is availiable along with many other community services including free tax preparation, healthy eating programs, and even a farmers market during the season!!! and i even voted here. ok on top of all of this...they have a POOL!! it is uber cheap for residents and the staff is ultra friendly. afternoons are slow and sometimes you can have the whole pool to yourself! and they offer swimming lessons, water aerobics, and more. if you live in dot and have not been here...make a point to check it out. and if you feel left behind by that other health center that seems to have grown to big for it's britches....then dot house is the place to be. kudos to allison diamond in primary care and smoking cessation, ivy brackup for accupuncture, and kathy in family planning. although i have never encountered anyone here who is not an absolutely great caregiver. do i love it?? absolutely!!! read more

Find an alternative! Parking is scant and almost always unavailable. Far worse, my doctor (Rachel King) refused to refill my thyroid meds (hypothyroid for 5years) without regular lab work I could not afford. Even though she knew I still needed the meds, she refused them because I could not afford the labwork. Crossing the Ts and dotting the Is on her paperwork was more important than my health. Her name is hard to read so I could only tell her first name. The receptionist telling me with an angry voice that she needed a full name. I managed to find the physician full name and told her. I said I wanted to consult about birth control method with my physician. This rude girl asked if wanted a refill on the pills? I said no, i wanted to change to a new method. She asked which one I want to change to???!!!! It's not your problem. U only need to know that I'm changing to a new one and have to consult with the physician! So I said I don't know yet, I need to talk to her first. She changed her voice telling me that she needs to know and I have to know!!!! What kind of receptionist is this? So if I'm in need of antibiotics but Idk which one treats my infection and I need an appointment. I have to know which one in order to see the doctor? Then who needs doctors then? This isn't the first time it happens. The receptionists and the nurses treat patients carelessly like we're going to a restaurant, not a healthcare clinic. Dorchester House is a multi-service center that offer more than just medical services. There are pharmacy, WIC, pool, gym, and other community services available at the center. I've had both good and bad days at this center. Sometimes you would have to wait for a very long time to be seen for your appointment and if you miss that, expect to wait at least two months before you can book another one. Why is that? It's because the center is the most convenient place for residents to get their teeth checked, then their prescriptions filled, and finally a nice and relaxing swim at the whole all at one location. It's undeniably a popular location, otherwise you wouldn't have to wait so long just to be seen. There have been many renovations recently to improve the flow of operation so that waiting long hours will be a thing of the past. Is the center perfect? No! But there really isn't many multi-service centers around like Dorchester House that spells out both "quality" and "convenience." read more

Well I see a lot of complaining about their phone service, appointments and prescription refills, so I thought I'd put my 2 cents worth in to help you all solve these problems ... PHONE SERVICE (Get the extension's or their direct lines, makes the process more easier) ... APPOINTMENTS (I always arrive an half-hour before my appointment and check-in with the clinic, but remember, their may have been an emergency prior to your appointment that caused your doctor to be behind, wouldn't you want your doctor to attend to your emergency instead of saying, sorry, I have appointments. Another thing you can ask the receptionist if your doctor is running on schedule, helps make decisions if you want to reschedule your appointment) ... PRESCRIPTION REFILLS ... (I always ask my doctor before I leave to please extend my prescriptions with my pharmacy, that way they have more than what I'll need to make sure my prescription never run out, MORE IS BETTER THAN LESS) ... end of RANT ... GOOD JOB DOT HOUSE ..... O'h I forgot to mention, I was one of them emergencies that them doctors had to pulled away from, and glad they did, or I wouldn't be writing this review. So in ending, try some of my suggestions above - It may keep your BLOOD PRESSURE down .......... read more

I've been to this place once before just to fill a prescription for new glasses. My Health insurance gives me a $150 every two years. First time was a little annoying having people interrupting to ask questions while I'm trying to register. But I was patient and got everything to her. Got some nice glasses, priced reasonably. Two years later I go in to get new glasses. The rep at the desk tells me they have to put in all the information I gave them again because of a new system they recently installed. Sigh! Got through that again with numerous interruptions. To make this story shorter, picked up the glasses about a month later. I had to come back the next day because of the markings that were left on (I thought I could rub them off with a little alcohol. But it didn't work. I take them in and the person told me there a special solution that they have to remove the marks. Ok it's done. I paid my bill ahead of time, that's the only way you'll get your glasses which makes sense, no problem there. 8 months, yes 8 months later I get a bill for $72 for an adjustment to my glasses! Called but got a stupid answer that that's what adjustments cost. I think they're scammers and will never ever do business with them again. Also don't go if you need parking, it's not available at all. read more

I have been a patient for 25 years along with my husband and 3 children. Dorchester house has made great strides over the years. Lovely professional people except for Greg Uskarnis NP , he always appears busy , but he blows the patients off and sends people to the E R rather than take the time and do his job ! My daughter went to him for a back injury , he didn't even examine her or offer X-rays which are on site . Instead after waiting , paying co pay Sent to ER for hours , the Md there examined her Did not do X-rays ( no need) , give her ibuprofen for the pain. When I asked Greg why he made his decision without examining my daughter, he was arrogant , rude , accused me of abusing him, I guess he didn't like my ? Then he actually threatened to call security! No one in my family will ever see him again , and many times we are offered appointments with him, which I refuse! He gets a minus 10 from me.
