Longwood pediatrics is an institution in Boston. My entire family, my extended family and…read morecountless friends have all had our pediatric doctors from longwood and though they are usually busy, they never fail to provide excellent, compassionate and knowledgable care. Everyone from the front desk staff to the nurses to the doctors seem to love their jobs and working with kids, I have recommended longwood to co-workers having a new child and countless family members, and without fail all I hear back is glowing reviews and gushing praise. When dealing with children's health the bedside manner of the health care provider can make a visit a positive experience or a nightmare - the doctor's here are truly specialists and never fail to make kids feel as comfortable as possible, whether with giving a reassuring pat on the back or a lollipop on the way out the door. They are affiliated with children's hospital which is right across the street, one of the best pediatric hospitals on planet earth. Finding the right doctor for your child is an important task and I really can not say enough good things about this practice. You can trust that your child is receiving truly world-class care when you take them to Longwood.

Came in for a well-visit and no secretary or nurses to check you in. Had to wait 30 mins in the lobby just to even talk to someone. Finally got in and was waiting in the room for 25 mins.. When we asked why no one was working, we were told that there was a possible covid exposure in the office, yet they still had us come in for our appointment... After waiting for almost an hour, we were rushed by the doctor and were only seen for maybe 5-7 mins.. Overall, very dissatisfied...

I had a video call with Dr. R when I was pregnant (they told me it was required to meet the doctor before she can take my child as a patient) but they did not tell me they would bill my insurance for a physical. I have been trying to solve this issue with them (to see if they can change the coding) for almost year but it's going no where. On a side note Dr. R was great, but there are a lot of great pediatricians with better billing departments.

She, and her staff, are always available to listen, advise and help. They don't over or under medicate, they are kind, they don't send one to the ER at the drop of a hat, they provide a cell number that they answer directly at night (and into the morning). I can't say enough about how much anxiety and stress they have lifted from the job of being a parent. A recent example: my son has been coughing for weeks but has had no fever (summer cold). All of a sudden, he spike a big fever and is up all night. I call the cell number and get Dr. Porter on the way to drop her kids at camp. She tells me to call the office and bring my son in asap. We arrive at 8:30 and are seen by 8:45. They also take a look at my daughter. We left at 9:15 with a pneumonia diagnosis and medication at the CVS. Simple, no stress or worry about waiting with coughing kids in waiting room forever, no ER. I love Dr. Porter (and Dr. Chiang). My kids love her too and call her Dr. Popsicle. Who can argue with that?

Let me start by saying that I have no issues with Dr. Kerbel, but dealing with his office staff is…read morethe worst customer service experience I have ever had to deal with. I honestly don't know how they still have jobs. I dealt with this doctor's office for a year and these women have been so rude and disrespectful every single time I had to call for something or saw them in person. It was to the point where I felt uncomfortable calling about health concerns I had with my baby. Their tone of voice was so condescending and always made me feel like everything was my fault and I was doing things wrong - imagine that for a brand new parent. I don't know what makes them so entitled but they are the reason I am leaving this practice. The doctor is great but I will not be spoken to like that ever again. Even now that I called to try to come in and sign a medical release form and get my child's records, the woman on the phone basically told me that she doesn't have time for me and maybe I could get it in two weeks. The worst part is she LAUGHED on the phone when I asked her for these things. Not in a nice way but in a condescending "you are so dumb" way. Then she proceeded to tell me the office is closing soon when online and everywhere it states they are open until 4:30 PM (it's 12 right now.) She obviously just wanted to get me off the phone. I DO NOT recommend this place. The abuse from the staff is just not worth it. We have enough to worry about as parents.

He's a five but the staff (when we went there) was about a three. Although it happened quite a while ago I remember going to the office once when one of our kids was really sick, the receptionist (who is likely and hopefully gone by now) tells me that we shouldn't bring our kids to the office if they have the stomach flu. The problem was that I didn't say she had the stomach flu, I didn't know what she had because I am not a doctor...and neither was she. I was burning mad, in addition to being incredible insensitive the comment was dangerously unprofessional as receptionists should generally keep their medical opinions to themselves. Yeah, apparently I'm still mad about this. This event I recall specifically, but there were other negative staff interactions that occurred but that I don't remember with such detail. Even if the staff is still prickly I would unreservedly recommend Kerbel.
