If you've been following Juday's hairstyles these days, you would understand this big decision. And moment of hair fandom. That day, at the salon, I sheepishly showed a photo of Juday's so-chic shoulder-length bob to Jing, hoping that the people around me wouldn't think I was Juday's biggest fan (but damn, I sure seemed like that person that day). I dyed my hair so much last year that my savings were dwindling, hehe. Red hair is no joke, people. It fades faster than you can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. It's also a pain to remove. I wanted to save money for my internship abroad so I told myself I'll dye my hair for the last time this year. I have a lot of friends who frequently dye their hair and I asked them if they knew any great but affordable salons I could go to and my friend requested Warren Dave Salon. Warren Dave is a very quaint and humble salon in Ermita. If you're not particular with fancy shmancy salons, this is definitely a good choice. The staff are nice and friendly, it's open 24 hours, the owner (Sabrina) is so gracious, free coffee & snacks, super affordable prices for great service (they do great ombre, highlights and ashy toned hair colors), they use ORGANIC bleach (all of our hair were bleached and it didn't hurt. not one bit! all you get is a tingly sensation), although quaint, the salon has a lot of awards, Sabrina is very learned with her craft and you can play with Sabrina's cute toy dog to boot! My sisters and I made a girls salon day and got our hair together. I went ombre blonde with highlights paired with dark roots so when my roots grow, it's a nice balayage transition that I don't need to go to the salon again. My roots have grown considerably since then and my hair still looks great (ala Rachel Bilson's ombre hair) and I still get compliments occasionally. I suggest to make a reservation so Sab can prep everything for you and an early reservation at that so there's less people. :)

While the entrance is small, the actual salon is pretty big inside. It is like most of the other Bench Fix branches. I love their hair color because it doesn't hurt when they apply it and it lasts for several months. They also have really beautiful color combinations whether you want to be copper blonde or just get very nice highlights. While pricing for hair color is a bit expensive, it really is worth it. What surprised me about this branch is how good their makeup artists are. I had the chance to try it out one time when my most trusted makeup artist was out of town and I had a quick event to attend. They were so good people barely recognized me -- and I mean that in a good way.

There was no line, so I just ordered up my haircut through this cool computer device thing and got a regular, boy-next-door style clean cut with sorta thin but not undercut level thin sides. In no time at all, a barber came up to me and was ready to give me a haircut. I decided to time it just to make sure it was 10 minutes. It wasn't EXACTLY 10 minutes, of course, but needless to say it was pretty damn fast. The guy worked his magic like hell, I didn't know how he was cutting so fast. But in the blink of an eye, I had my haircut ready and done. And it didn't look half-bad either; it looked pretty much the same as all the other haircuts I normally get. Considering that price-wise, it's pretty much the same as the haircuts I get from other places, I'd say that the quickness and convenience factor here (the fact that you can get a haircut during your lunch break or something) gives it a decent edge.

When it comes to good haircuts, I'd have to say that David's Salon is one of the best there is…read more Sure, you can get a haircut for as low as P40 these days but there really is no assurance that you're getting a good one. In fact, I've tried that myself and have often regretted the decision to do a budget cut right after. David's does not employ hair cutters, they have hair stylists. You know you are working with really great people when they spend more than 5 minutes on just the bangs and another 30 or so getting my unruly hair to look even. I also love their coloring service. The colors are very nice and subtle but it does make a big difference in the way you look. Just a fair warning, the colorant they use may feel like your scalp is burning but the color takes really well. Plus, it doesn't take the usual two hours plus heating, just a 45-minute shampoo session with the colorant and you're done. Here's the only downside with David's, it's hard to get the actual pricing from them when you're getting your hair done. They don't really tell you until the very end, and by then they've already started on your hair and you can't really back out. It can get pretty annoying because it's happened to me twice in this branch - first when I was getting my hair rebonded and second when I was getting it colored. I think a little bit of transparency would be appreciated by their loyal customers. Plus the upselling of other products for maintenance is not really recommended because customers already pay a lot for their services. But other than that, I'm pretty happy with the basic haircut and the coloring service. The results are always beautiful.

I usually walk in during non-peak hours on weekdays, but today's experience was disappointing. I expected the receptionist to assign a more experienced person to do my root coloring. This happened around 4:30 PM, and I was very dissatisfied with the service and the stylist assigned to me. Despite paying the full service amount, I was given someone who lacked experience in both coloring and shampooing. My dress and back got wet, and the staff were neither friendly nor accommodating. Their quality service is pricey, but they do offer discounts and promos that are worth waiting for, especially nearing holidays. I got my digiperm on a pre-Christmas promo which is a big plus for me as a student. Besides treatments, their haircuts are also A+ because of the cool Korean trendy styles they offer. I find their hairstylists very friendly regardless of language barrier. The assistants are around to help communicate between hairstylists and customers so it's not a problem.
