I had long hair for over 10 years before i decided to cut it short.
I guess I got bored, i was never the type to play around with hairstyles kase -- it would always just hang down my back, a long straight heavy curtain. I actually liked it, it was low maintenance, i could go for more than 5 months without a cut. (eep.)
So, after agreeing to be a mannequin for a hair event -- a 3-minute hair cut on stage by a famous stylist -- I said well what the heck, it's hair. If i keep it healthy, it will grow out. So I had it cut -- from almost halfway down by back to chin length. Yes, all at once.
The cut was awesome. I loved it. I wondered why it took me so long to do it.
And so I tried to maintain it -- but a cut las short as mine requires "refreshing" every 3 weeks to a month at most. A 1,200 haircut every time will hurt.
So i went on a quest for the best stylist I can get at the best price. After several failed attempts that ranged from 500-800, a friend recommended heading to David's Salon in Greenbelt 1, where the stylists are low key but very, very precise.
I am so glad I did, all those years ago. That's where I met Cynthia, and she has been cutting and maintaining my hair for years (For only P350-- so I just give her a generous tip)! ! She is very good with her scissors -- precise and careful. She also assesses your hair pretty well and makes sure to tell you if what you wanna do with it may not suit you. She's so used to mine by now, and to my "threats" of growing it out but being unable to get past the awkward growing out stage before i come marching back to her. The team of shampoo girls and colourists and threading specialists there are also very professional, and capable.
While David's has the atmosphere of a neighbourhood salon more than a high-end one, I'd keep coming back here. Check it out, maybe you'll find your go-to stylist here, too!
PS. If Cynthia is not around, Mita is good, too. But Cynthia is awesome! read more
