Toni and Guy is a foreign brand but what most people may not be aware of is that Chot Reyes owns the local franchise. Yes, former Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes owns a hair salon chain, and I can't thank him enough.
The thing with my family / clan on my mother's side - we tend to patronise things, services - anything really - as a collective whole. Once one of us is happy with something or someone, many of us tend to follow suit.
Jaymarc, one of the senior creative stylists in Toni and Guy, was my cousin's discovery. And soon my other cousins, me, my brother, and my aunt have become regular customers.
Jaymarc doesn't look like your typical hair stylist - he is well-inked, looks badass, and kinda looks like Coco Martin. So we call him Choco Martin.
What I love about my hair under Jaymarc's care (that rhymes!) is that he can follow pegs and give me the cut that I want, for one thing. Too many times in the past, I would bring a photo or describe what I want and the stylist would tell me my hair is the wrong texture, my face is the wrong shape, etc. Jaymarc somehow is able to make any style work for me. I have never been style or fashion forward but ever since I went to him i have been complimented on my hairstyle instead of always being mocked for unruly hair.
Second, depending on the way I part my hair, I get at least three different looks for one haircut. Sometime people think I cut my hair every two weeks because it always looks different.
I trust him so much I sometimes don't give a hair peg and just let him experiment. He looks like he's under a trance sometimes "kapag ginanahan akong gupitan." :)
If you wanna try him out, he's at SM Aura everyday except Mondays. read more
