My experience with DOT Truck Sales in Lathrop has been extremely frustrating and financially damaging. In my opinion, this dealership engages in misrepresentation and deceptive sales practices that buyers should be very cautious of.
I was assured--multiple times--that the truck I was putting a deposit on was in safe, road-ready condition. Those statements turned out to be false. Serious mechanical issues were either hidden or intentionally downplayed. When I raised concerns and requested my deposit back after discovering the true condition of the truck, I was ignored entirely.
This is not an isolated incident. I have purchased trucks from this dealer in the past, and none lasted even one year. One suffered a complete engine failure. Another developed severe electrical issues that made it unreliable and unsafe. Looking back, there is a clear pattern of selling poorly maintained trucks while misrepresenting their condition.
The owner, TJ, was unprofessional and dismissive once money changed hands. Their in-house mechanic supported their claims, but based on my experience, those statements were not truthful and appeared coordinated to push the sale.
Buyer Warning (Important):
Under California Civil Code, buyers have the legal right to bring their own independent mechanic to inspect a vehicle prior to purchase. I strongly advise exercising this right. Do not rely on verbal promises or internal inspections from this dealership.
I regret trusting what I was told instead of walking away. In my opinion, this business demonstrates a lack of transparency, accountability, and honesty. Potential buyers should proceed with extreme caution. read more
