(If, having a tooth pulled can be good) I've had lots of dental work done by lots of dentists, but this doctor was one of the best.

Today I did both at Tulips' Chesterfield office. I would have liked to have had the opportunity to bring my elderly mother to meet one of the periodontists, but didn't make it past the blonde receptionist that was full of attitude. Immediately upon giving my mother's name, she stated very rudely that they wouldn't be able to see her today, and that I would just have to take today's appointment time to complete her paperwork and schedule another appointment. After I made personal arrangements to travel in from out-of-town while quite sick myself to get my mother in from her nursing home for some complex dental care, and after taking time off from my 3 national businesses to get her there, and after calmly explaining to the receptionist that their website was down last night when I tried to pre-fill their patient paperwork (checked 4x last night), she proceeded to cop a disdainful attitude with, "Well, THAT's why we send you the links well in advance. YOU'LL just have to complete the paperwork now and come back ANOTHER time when WE can fit you in with an appointment." No apology for their website being down, no acknowledgement of the hassle we'd gone through to get my mom there. COULD. NOT. HAVE. CARED. LESS. Considering the procedure my mom would need to have would probably cover half or most of the receptionist's salary, I'm surprised that they have this person out front. The periodontists may be excellent - but we'll never know, because we'll be taking my mom's business elsewhere. God only knows how much business the person out front is costing them.

I never heard another word until I received a PAST DUE notice in the mail, stating that I had been referred to collections! When I called the office, I was told that they were "sorry" but that Dr. Overstreet was aware of the problem, apparently lots of people call about this, but he refuses to do anything about it. I always pay my bills on time. The office should have told me that insurance did not pay. Instead they sent me a hostile, aggressive PAST DUE notice. Periodontal disease is already stressful, so I don't need a dentist that is unconcerned about adding to that. I have asked that my records be sent to Dr. Daniel Kelly in Charlottesville. I gave this office one star because there was no option for less.

After a few days I realized the tooth he hit was hurting so I made a few trips to my dentist and they sent me to the endodontist who concluded the tooth had a hairline fracture. I returned to Richardson, Overstreet, & Glazier, DDS to discuss it and he denied ever hitting the tooth and refused to acknowledged it happened. Also he told me to stop talking about it because he did not do it. That caught me off guard because he apologized to me the day he did it so I know he was aware how hard he hit my upper tooth. So I definitely do not recommend this place.

The security guard let us know the urgent care may not be open due to lack of students but we'd see what we could do. We got in and urgent care wasn't open but when I explained what was going on, they told me to check in and see if oral surgery would take me. As I went to do that, a doctor came out and said oral surgery would be taking extractions for the day but that was all. I checked in and they had me back in a chair within 30 mins tops. The receptionists were so nice and when I was doing my insurance and paperwork, the receptionist even said she didn't know how I could joke with the pain I was in and she hoped they got me taken care of soon. The nurse that took me back was so so kind. She asked if I was sure I didn't want to save my tooth since insurance would pay for it but when I was in tears from the pain she said she understood. The dentist pulling my tooth practically knew what tooth it was before I gave any info. He was very knowledgeable and had good bedside manners. Everything was done in about 20 minutes once the questions and history were done. I will definitely be switching to their practice as a patient because everyone was absolutely so kind and helpful. I feel a million times better, even with being a little sore from an extraction of a molar. They let me take a photo of the tooth too which, as a healthcare worker, the medical photos are always fun for me.

The student and instructor spoke primarily in a foreign language and I never knew what was going on, as they didn't bother to inform me. I kept showing up for appointments not knowing what procedure they had planned or how much it would cost. They are militant about payment, threatening to cancel appointments if payment is not made immediately after services are delivered, even if you are in bad shape from the procedure and have a hard time concentrating on financial matters. I was on my way to an appointment, planning to pay for the previous days appointment before my scheduled appointment, but they made me pull over on the side of the road while driving to pay immediately or have the appointment canceled. My local dentist apologized for the work done by VCU after looking in my mouth. He then adjusted the temporary denture so that it didn't cause me pain and draw blood if I attempted to use it. The instructor had refused to fix the problem as he 'only dealt with one problem at a time' and he had to remove some spicules. I had to have spicules removed by them and the local dentist I hired, who said he had never seen so many spicules sewed up in someone's gums. There were 22 spicules that had to be removed over a period of two months. They shattered my teeth and left the pieces in my gums and sewed them in. They ground down one side of my jawbone and did not even it out on the other side, so now any plate sits on a pivot point and cannot be glued in place, because as soon as any pressure is applied, the plate comes loose and falls into my mouth. I will have to pay for another surgery to fix what VCU dental did to my mouth. They promise you good work for a reduced price, but I received substandard work for nearly the same as a good dentist. The instructor should have been there to monitor the procedures, but he was absent for 99% of the work, only showing up to make the student nervous and make disparaging comments to her. I don't blame the student, as she was completely let down by her instructor. My experience informs me that the instructirs at VCU dental don't want to be there and don't care about the work being done. They don't even bother to speak English, to allow for understanding of the patients who visit. If you have an emergency, perhaps it is worth it to visit VCU dental, but otherwise, don't let them permanently damage your mouth with poor behavior and insult you with claims of non payment. Just avoid the place completely, if you can. When you go to an independant dentist, look attheir certificate and make sure it doesn't say 'VCU Dental''. If it does, go somewhere else for your own health.

I have been a patient as well as my children since they were little. I always loved Dr. Pfab. I have not kept up with my annual cleaning, therefore, it has been about 10 years since I had a full cleaning. I would only go when I had issues. I was seen this July 2025, by Dr. Beltrami. I was told I needed all kinds of work done to a total of $13,000. I agreed to have this extensive work done, however, I was called and told that nothing will be completed until my check cleared. I was in the office for almost 5 hours. 8 AM until 1 PM. I had several teeth extracted, implants, crowns, bridges, a lot of work done. I left without any medication including antibiotics. On day two I called in excruciating pain, and I felt like something was not right. My face was beginning to feel hot on the right side. Dr. Beltrami did not ask to see me but called in an antibiotic and a pain med. Five days later... the right side of my face was swollen all the way up into my nasal cavity, my cheekbone, and I could not open my right eye all of the way. When I explained this to the receptionist, she came back to the phone and told me that that Dr. Beltrami said it was due to my anxiety. Again, did not ask to see me, with that being two times I called with issues since the surgery. The following night, I ended up in urgent care with the most horrible infection. The entire staff at the urgent care could not believe that he did not put me on an antibiotic prior to such extensive surgery. Once again that is two times that he refused and did not feel it necessary to see me. I finally told the receptionist I needed to come in and be seen and I asked to be seen by a different dentist. Dr. Beltrami was not there as he was on vacation in the islands. The Dentist I saw said the infection was so bad she could not touch anything on the right side of my mouth because of the inflammation and the infection, but she did take an x-ray. Dr. Beltrami left half of the entire root in my gum. He did not even extract it all. The root was causing all of the infection. The wonderful dentist that I saw that day gave me three days with a strong antibiotic and told me to come back so we could extract the root. After three days I went back and she went in to extract the root Dr Beltrami left in my gum, and she had to go in three more times in order to get it all out. It was excruciatingly painful, and it took a very long time. She also asked the hygienist at the beginning of my appoitment if she could see the x-ray that Dr. Beltrami took at the end of my surgery. Guess what?? There was never an x-ray taken at the end of my surgery. We are now in October, and I am still dealing with this. The negligence, lack of caring, and arrogance of this doctor is not only horrifying, but extremely unprofessional. I would be scared for anyone else I know to go and see him. It is also interesting how I was charged $13,000 for these procedures when upon checking with other area dentists....the cost would have been around 6k. I feel like I have not only been cheated out of my retirement money, (I used to pay for this) but I was butchered by a so called , well renowned dentist in the area. Please, if you decide to use this practice, please do not use Dr. Beltrami. I believe I deserve my money back 100 percent.
