I was referred here by my dentist to get my wisdom teeth removed…read more The positive: - Making an appointment was pretty easy, they were informative on what to expect and what to bring with me (ID, form of payment, somebody to drive me home from the procedure) - the facility itself is very nice and clean. The building looked new, had some nice Christmas decor, and cozy details such as a blanket for the patient in the consultation room. - the technology they have is great and very up to date, especially compared to the average dentists office. The consultation room has a gigantic TV that they will pull up your pan X-ray on, allowing them to show you exactly what they plan to do. - because my pan X-ray was a bit old and had been the old printed type (not digital), they were nice enough to repeat an X-ray on the house prior to the procedure. This allowed the oral surgeons quickly figure out that what looked like a cyst on an old X-ray was simply an undeveloped wisdom tooth. - the oral surgeon had a nice demeanor, was great at describing the procedure. He also is very skilled at what he does, the surgery went well without any issues and I had a prompt recovery. The negative: - It took over a week to get a call back from their employee in charge of finance/insurance to get details about what sort of out of pocket payment I would be looking at after my dental insurance coverage. - the front desk person was under the impression that I would need "general" anesthesia. I don't think the front desk people fully understand the difference between general anesthesia and light sedation. - the oral surgeon spent very little time on the consultation prior to the procedure, and I felt as though I was almost forced towards going under sedation for the procedure rather than being given information on doing only local anesthesia. I felt as though I had no information and no choice on the matter. I was only getting the top wisdom teeth out so from speaking to friends in the field, local anesthesia could have been a viable option. - the person I asked to drive me home was given post-op instructions due to me still being sedated. Since this was just a routine wisdom tooth removal, it would have been nice to hear these instructions myself prior to going under sedation. Overall- I enjoyed my experience here, and the wisdom tooth removal surgery was successful. The oral surgery team here is very skilled, and I was healed up enough to go back to a regular diet within 3 days of surgery.

It just happened that we were looking for a change and haven't looked back. It's a plus that their office is not far from us. Located right on the corner of Lynngate and Rocky Ridge, it's about 3 blocks away from Lorna Road and basically on the edge of Hoover and Vestavia. Their office is a converted house so it's cozy. There's plenty of parking spaces and you can see their building if you're driving past it on Rocky Ridge. Their waiting room is simple and what they don't have in the waiting room like a Keurig, they make up with their friendly staff that's always there to help. They have all the needed state of the art stuff tech like panoramic and digital x-rays. They provide comprehensive services from cosmetic, endodontic, to restorative. And as any good practitioner, if Dr. Sanderson can't help, he'll know someone he trusts that can. He has performed root canals and a bridge and I have no complaints. My wife and 3 children also see him. He is a solo practice, but has dentists who cover for him when he's not available. What can I say about he and his staff? They will go out of their way to be helpful. We have had insurance foul ups and his staff were resilient in getting it resolved. His hygenists are professional, efficient and so nice. They have text messaging to remind you of your appointments. Dr. Sanderson will always answer your questions honestly. His wealth of experience in his field gives me the confidence that I trust. He has an affable personality that really helps when you're in the chair. He is fluent in spanish and some of his staff is also fluent in spanish thus making him quite popular with spanish speaking patients. The dentist does not pay attention to your concerns and hurries you in and out. I believe this is a widespread issue in healthcare today. Consider visiting a non-corporate dentist. Last year, I had eight cavities filled by them, only to later see a new dentist who informed me that I had no cavities, and they had drilled into perfectly healthy teeth. I returned to discuss my TMJ issues, but she rushed me through the appointment. She mentioned sending me to physical therapy, but I expressed my preference for injections, to which she replied that she would refer me to a TMJ specialist. When I contacted them, I was told that Naos PT does not provide injections and does not accept my insurance, despite my dentist claiming otherwise. I have decided not to return to this place, and it frustrates me how little they seem to care.

Her office has a calming atmosphere for a dental office. The chairs you sit in while receiving services/treatment are comfortable and she has TVs in each room so you can distract yourself from whatever treatment you're about to receive. Her office is great about getting back in touch with you. My husband had a sudden toothache and left a message about the pain he was in. Dr. Hill responded same day. Now, Dr. Hill is busy so getting an appointment can be difficult at times, but generally, you should be able to find a spot that will work for you. I'll definitely remain a patient for the foreseeable future. Oh...and Dr. Hill is a graduate of the Alabama A&M University so that's a major plus to me!
