I selected two packs of clip-ins priced at $80 each and, as a licensed cosmetologist, I kindly asked if he could extend the professional discount. Instead of handling the request with courtesy, he abruptly demanded to see my license. I didn't have the physical copy on me, but I showed him my driver's license and pulled up my valid license directly from the official New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology website. Still annoyed, he barked again, insisting on seeing my shop license instead. At that point, I left the merchandise on the counter and walked out. It was an $18 discount--on what I'm sure was a heavily marked-up item--and rather than valuing a repeat customer and licensed professional, he chose to be dismissive and difficult. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend C&J Beauty Supply to other professionals who expect basic respect and appreciation for their business. The staff deserves better leadership, and so do the customers.

When I get there, I try to call to let them know I will be about 5 minutes late to my appointment. Because of the parking situation, though they were somewhat vague about the complexity of it, there is no way to get in contact with them drectly, it's just prompts on prompts on prompts from an AI machine that really gets you nowhere. After arriving at 4:50pm for my 4:45pm appointment, I was not seen until 520. There are only two people working at this location. When I was finally spoken to, I provided the young lady a clear understanding of what my vision for my hair and goals where. We had a very deep consultation about what I absolutely did not want to happen and what my goal was to achieve in my hair.I literally showed her the names of the 3 colors I researches online before comingin. What came next was just a very aggressive product push and upsell, that was borderline delinquent. I was told that in order for her to do the color that I wanted I had to add the hair protection product $40 and a extra color lifter $30 that was the only way she could achive the result, and then she T O L D me did not *ask* that the membership she was gonna add to card, cause it made sense to achieve the color that I wanted. After me telling her that I wanted to see the results before committing to a membership Her tone was very dismissive, and she kept telling me that although I use the name brand product that I mentioned to her at home that I did not do not know what I was doing and that I had to do this in order to get the color that I want. I think the reason that they do not have mirrors in front of the workstations is so that you do not see the chaos that is happening with your hair. The final results was the same color that I had on. My hair was just a little glossier, and my roots covered. I voiced my dismay on the waste of time, effort and money and was basically told Well, I told you, you're not gonna get what you want unless you buy the membership and come in every 4 to 6 weeks. To add insult to injury, the young lady that was blow drying my hair kept burning it because the blowdryer was malfunctioning at 1 point I got stuck in the middle of my head. She had to remove the back piece in order to free my hair after me telling her that I was in pain and that it hurt when she asked the 3 times she finally switched Blow dryers, but the damage was already done, I have a small bald spot where she yanked my hair when removing the piece from the blowdryer off. I told her specifically various times during the conversation that I did not like volume in my hair. I wanted it as flat as possible. I left there looking like a brocolis head. The cherry, on the top of all of this was, there was no air conditioner, when it was ninety four degrees outside. I beg you stay away from this location. Something that most hair salons were not able to 100% achieve in the past. As I walked into the salon I was confused. There was no one to greet you and instead was a large screen. A stylist came and offered me a seat. She took a picture of my hair, asked me a couple questions and then she took me over to the large screen and showed me the color she was going to achieve. She proceeded to mix the ingredients according to the apps direction. She applied the color, told me how many minutes I had to stay with the solution and never came back. lol When the time was up, another person came and asked me to walk to the sink station so she can wash my hair. The shampoos smelled great. Then she showed me the self service for the blowouts. My initial stylist never came to check up on me, or even see if the color matched the initial consultation and the salon was definitely not busy. There was no one to check you out either. I used the iPad by myself and paid for the service. I am not sure if I would trust this place for highlights, but for an easy overall color application and grey coverage it's not a bad idea. I don't think I would pay full price for this service however. I would only go back with a discount.
