I did take off one star for three reasons: 1) Despite the website, the store front, and the google business hours saying the store opened at 9am, it was not open until 930. The ladies were very nice about this and let us know but as we were standing in line outside it was a little inconvenient. 2) they do take your name when you walk in and put you on a list, but it seems there was some confusion of who really came first. Some customers that I was standing in front of said they were there before me, but they were in their car. While I don't doubt that, it seems unfair for some people to stand outside and others be in the comfort of the car, I think they should honor the order of who is actually standing outside. 3) Lastly, I think overall, the styling of the wig, the braid down etc was good, but my stylist left too much lace on my unit. I didn't notice it until I was in my car and at that point I had been there quite some time so wanted to get home. As I mentioned everyone was very nice so I'm sure If I noticed it and told the stylist about it, she would have adjusted it. I will definitely give them another try! Matou was so friendly on the phone when I called and we decided on a time. I arrived on time and showed her what I wanted and she said they could totally do it but they were running a little behind schedule and she asked that I just relax and watch tv and offered me a beverage while I waited. Matou and her sisters all took their time studying the style I wanted, getting to know my hair texture and pattern and making recommendations for slight adjustments based upon my hair density and pattern which I 100% appreciated because other braid shops would've just done the style I showed them and it wouldn't have been to my liking, but Matou and her sisters took the time to make sure I got a style that would look best on me and that I would be happy with. They all literally did a portion of my style because they are each experts at different things (one did the basic braid down in the back, the other did the patterned braiding and the other finished off braiding the ends and setting the hair at the end). Pricing was also very reasonable and fair and the shop itself was clean and air conditioned. I will certainly be back for my next style!

And now I can say: Finally a place in Montclair where my curls can thrive! Tricia, the owner, was extremely accommodating and kind giving me several options. I am a new mom to two with a tight schedule. My stylist Gennifer took great care-- explaining what she was doing and teaching me along the way. She gave helpful tips for some wild knots I explained I had been having (post partum hair is a struggle). She did a special moisturizing treatment and my hair is so soft from the treatment she did.
