I was on the lookout for a photographer to document our family's memorable trip to Hawaii last winter, and when I stumbled upon her portfolio on Yelp, something clicked. There's a distinctive quality in her work - an ability to capture genuine, unposed moments that sets her apart. Our initial meeting felt surprisingly familiar; it was as if we were reuniting with an old family friend, even though it was our first encounter. What stood out most was her sincere curiosity about our family's story through her lens. It wasn't just about taking pictures; she seemed genuinely interested in capturing the essence of our journey. This personal touch made our family feel comfortable, creating an atmosphere that went beyond a mere photoshoot. The result? Beautifully framed memories that now hold a special place in our hearts. Her unique perspective transformed our family trip into an unforgettable experience. Looking ahead, I wholeheartedly recommend her to others seeking a photographer who goes beyond the lens to tell a genuine story. If your travels bring you to Hawaii, consider connecting with her for a truly personalized and memorable experience. Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful memories she helped immortalize. read more

Dorka did an amazing job with our maternity photos! She went above and beyond, taking the time to get to know us prior to the shoot and even giving us updates on the site the day prior to the shoot. The shoot flew by because she made us feel so comfortable and the pictures came out amazing! She definitely is super talented! Now we have pictures that we can look back at for a lifetime! Thank you, Dorka! Highly recommend her!! read more

I decided to cram a last minute maternity/family photoshoot just a week before our trip and it was a miracle that I found Dorka! She was responsive, professional, flexible, informative, and kind. On the day of shoot, you can visibly see that Dorka was genuinely passionate about capturing the very best moments between you and your loved ones. The photos had turned out amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better photographer...especially on such short notice! I would definitely recommend her :) read more

It felt like a miracle when we were able to book Dorka for a last minute shoot so close to Christmas! Not only was she the best value by far, but she was so responsive, helpful, knowledgeable, and great to hang out with. When the spectacular photos came out so gorgeous, even with the clouds, we knew we found someone special. Thank you for making our vacation so memorable. We are so grateful to have found you! read more

We were a week away from a vacation in Honolulu, and I thought last minute that I'd like family photos taken--and Dorka was AMAZING! She was super responsive from the start. SO flexible and understanding of the vagaries of weather (it poured on the day we had chosen for the photoshoot, and Dorka was completely open to playing every morning by ear so we would be comfortable taking photos). We have a young toddler, and Dorka came prepared w a stuffy. Then she blew my mind with truly beautiful photos sent to me within a day of the photoshoot!!! Dorka was so easy and seriously wonderful to work with. She went above and beyond to take photos she knew we would love. Couldn't recommend her more!! read more

Dorka recently did my engagement photos in the French Quarter. The results are beyond my expectations. SO. AMAZING. Dorka was able to capture our love story in an organic and honest manner, with the most incredible natural light. We look youthful, carefree, relaxed, happy, madly in love - a truly phenomenal time in our lives to have on camera for forever. These photos give me warm-fuzzies when I look at them now; imagine how I will feel when I look back on them years from now. So unbelievable grateful for Dorka's talent and artistry. She's truly out-of-this-world awesome. She's doing exactly what she was put on this earth to do and we are so lucky that we got to work with her. We are getting married in Seattle this August. I wish I had considered hiring Dorka and flying her out for the event - it would've easily been money well spent. If you're looking for a photographer for whatever event in your life, you will not regret hiring Dorka. I cannot endorse her enough. Dorka has also done my friend's engagement photos and is doing her upcoming April wedding, as well as another friend's wedding last June. We collectively gush about her ALL the time. Message me if you want to see more photos or have specific questions. I'd add more photos but I think my fiance would be super weirded out that I'm sharing these intimate moments with the (yelp) world. read more

Miss Dorka did our wedding photography and all I have to say is WOW! We can't wait to hire her again to capture any other life changing moments that may come up (hmm...we may have to think of some!) How to explain her photography? We were scouting for a non-posey, non-cheesy approach to our Big Day..I did NOT want all of our wedding party lined up in a row looking perfect. Rather I hoped for someone to capture the emotions of our festive party which she did in spades. The pictures came out beautifully. Dorka also has a great eye for playing with and capturing light, if I can figure out how to upload some of her photos I will. We instantly clicked with Dorka's artistic sensibility and found that she was very detail-oriented. With her help we have the wedding photos we always dreamed of. Thank you Miss Dorka! read more

Do yourself a favor and HIRE Dorka.! She is an amazing photographer and brings out the best in people. She is extremely creative, helpful and made us feel comfortable through out our day. We can not be happier with the way our photos turned out! We shared them with our family and friends and they loved them! Her services surpassed our expectations. Best wedding photographer in New Orleans! read more

Dorka came to my house and photographed my paintings so I can advertise them on the Internet. She does a magical job. The paintings look even better in the photographs. She is super nice and has more than reasonable prices. I love spending the day with Dorka as much as seeing her photography. I will call her whenever I need professional pictures. read more

I wish Dorka would have been IN our wedding by the time our experience with her was over! To me, capturing emotion, capturing the feeling in the air is not something that comes naturally to photographers, but was Dorka's baseline standard in her work. Most of the time you never knew she was there as she effortlessly took hundreds of photos of your most important moments and cherished people. We wanted someone who just "got" us. We are not cookie cutter people (at least we don't think so) and Dorka took the time, even from afar (we were coming in From Atlanta) to get to know us intimately. I searched the web endlessly to find someone who captured these tiny nuances of our love rather than someone who created the perfect wedding portrait. Dorka rocks out the natural light and really bring genuine passion to her work. I never felt like we "hired" Dorka. She was doing what she loved and it was obvious. She is a giver too! She was on her feet all day (while pregnant too) and never complained about how much she was doing for us on our special weekend. I plan to have Dorka shoot more milestone events for us the the future. She is a 'life' photographer, not just a wedding photographer. I truly feel like it was a gift to have the opportunity to hire her! I can assure you, you will not be disappointed. Her finishing work is polished and pulled together. We are just getting through all the shots she sent us and while we've been married 4+ months now and back in our routine of life, looking at these photos brings us back to exactly how we felt during our wedding weekend. Thanks again Dorka! read more

I'm employed as a freelance writer and needed photos of myself for promotional use. I have worked with a lot of fashion photographers but I wanted my photos to look really natural and candid, not like a portrait or anything too posed. So decided to call Dorka because I loved her eye for catching those moments in which the subject looks natural, uninhibited and unaware of the camera. I was really nervous and self-conscious about being in front of the camera. She was fantastic about listening to what I wanted the result to look like and reviewing tear sheets I'd shown her. She guided me through the process of directing me what to do to get the result of how I wanted to look in the frame and planning the best time to shoot for ideal lighting conditions. I absolutely recommend Dorka, not only because she is an amazing photographer with an eye to catch beauty, but also because she is a pleasure to work with. Very professional by getting proofs and final, color-corrected images in a timely manner but also the most warm, friendly and genuinely caring and invested in her subjects. read more

People with great artistic talent sometimes make the production of beautiful things look easy - Dorka certainly falls in this category when it comes to photography. Her amazing photos have a soft unaffected quality due to Dorka's unique ability to use natural light to her advantage and her genuine commitment to each and every project she takes on. I recruited Dorka to do the photography work for the website I was building for my law practice, and I could not be happier with the results. She came to our office days before the shoot was scheduled to gauge the lighting and gather ideas for different shots throughout the office. On the day of the shoot, Dorka was great working with our staff and myself, keeping a very relaxed atmosphere while working hard to get us the best results possible. I would certainly recommend Dorka to anyone that is seeking out photography work of the highest quality. James read more

We asked Dorka to photograph our family shortly following our daughter's third birthday. I had seen some of her work on her website and blog, and was so impressed with the beauty and unique quality of her images I knew she would be a good choice for us. Her photographs of our family - my husband and I and our daughter - completely exceeded my expectations! The images of our daughter, especially, are beautiful. Dorka was able to completely put her at ease, and allow her personality to shine. Her style is very organic and natural, and she is very fun and easy to talk to and work with. After discussing options with Dorka, we decided to do our family photo shoot at Torrey Pines State Reserve. The amazing surroundings there served as the perfect backdrop for Dorka's very naturalistic style of shooting. Most of the shots were candid, simply capturing us walking, talking and laughing and enjoying the beautiful scenery together - and our daughter jumping and dancing along the way. Dorka captured our daughter's energetic spirit, without any awkward traditional poses. We could not be happier with the beautiful images Dorka captured that day. It is such a gift to have these amazing photos of this time in our daughter's life. We have given several prints and photo books from the shoot to family members as gifts. Without a doubt, we will be hiring Dorka again for future family events and moments! Thank you, Dorka! read more

Simply wonderful! I'm not sure anything I write will accurately reflect the satisfaction I received from using Dorka Photography. I agree with the previous posts that on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, Dorka deserves 10! We live out of state and I planned to propose in New Orleans and wanted to have it captured on film for our families and friends that wouldn't be in town to share it. I found Dorka on-line through Yelp, and was immediately impressed with her great reviews. Thank goodness she happened to be available the days we would be there, and was willing to take us with relatively short notice. I understand this was a rare coincidence in my favor... or in my case, good fate. After trading emails and phone calls prior to the trip, I knew I had found the right person for the job. Dorka listened and provided great suggestions. As the day got closer, Dorka remained ultimately professional and super easy to work with. She was the epitome of patience while I bounced between planned locations for the proposal at least 3 or 4 times prior to the date. When I finally decided on the French Quarter (simple, but most meaningful to us), Dorka went ahead of time to scout locations and pick spots that would be ideal given the time of day and the direction of lighting. She even sent me the photos of places she scouted so I could make a final decision on the location. Lastly, on top of all the other challenges of coordinating plans from out of town, the night before the event, my plans hit a major obstacle and had to be delayed by one day. With short notice, Dorka was kind enough to change her schedule and work with me despite the major inconvenience. Needless to say, when all was done, we couldn't be any happier with the results! If you've seen the portraits on her website and blog, they speak for themselves. There's not a single photo that Dorka took, that I wouldn't be proud to frame and hang in my home. Dorka has an amazing talent for capturing real moments. As someone else said, she's not just a photographer, she is a gifted artist! Thank you Dorka for capturing the memories of a lifetime and being such a wonderful part of the whole process! read more

What a wonderful photographer! Dorka came by and shot our recording session. Not only do the photos look beautiful and stylish, but she was also the kind of professional who becomes a great artistic partner - she moved so deftly and had us so had ease that some of the finest moments were documented in both a natural and flattering manner. Now I just have to go write some music that'll live up to those shots! read more

Hiring Dorka to capture our wedding day was the best decision we made when planning our wedding. She is a true artist and a first-class professional. Even more so, she is passionate about her craft and truly cares about each of her clients. Her commitment to excellence is evident in her work. To say she exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. She captured our wedding day in a way that we didn't think was possible. Her photos are more than simply snapshots of our wedding - they tell the story of our day in a way that is beautiful and authentic. We think the world of Dorka, and we hope to have the opportunity to work with her again. read more

I could not be more pleased with our choice of a wedding photographer. Dorka has an incredible style that is so natural and organic, which is exactly how I wanted our photos to be. I'm not a fan of generic, posed shots and Dorka's sensibilities meshed perfectly with what we were going for. All of our photos turned out stunning and unique. Not only that, but she really went above and beyond with the time she put into our shoots. We went over sites and she then went to all of them at different times of day to play with different lights and sent me all the test photos to make sure what she had in mind was to our liking. I also didn't really want getting ready photos or an engagement shoot but Dorka showed me how doing those can really tell a story and she was absolutely right. Finally, I priced several other photographers and Dorka was by far the most reasonable. I wholeheartedly endorse her and think she is BRILLIANT! read more

Dorka is marvelous! I contacted her from out of state to take some senior pictures of my daughter who was attending a university in New Orleans. Dorka kept both me and my daughter completely in the loop, made sure she understood memories that we were trying to capture, engaged my daughter in a very pleasant and relaxing photo shoot, and delivered promptly and professionally once the photos were taken. I can highly recommend her, and would love to have an occasion to use her services again! read more

Dorka is an amazing, kind, generous and compassionate photographer. She photographed my wedding which was a small, intimate affair with 4 people in attendance. Her calm, sweet energy and style made our special day an event for all to remember. Because we enjoyed working with her so much, we invited her to our home to photograph our newborn son... another unforgettable moment... and then again to photograph our family for our holiday greeting cards. We love working with Dorka and have committed to using her services for all special events that we want memorialized with pictures!! read more

Dorka shot our wedding in New Orleans recently, and I still can't believe how gorgeous the photos are -- somehow she captured so many of the subtler moments and made them visible, and beautiful. It was a real privilege to work with someone who had so much respect for us and our story, but also a strong commitment to the work itself. She possesses the perfect balance of professionalism and artfulness -- she was incredibly flexible but also had a very strong vision for what she hoped to capture. I can't say enough about what a positive experience we had - I'm so glad we connected with Dorka! read more

My wife and I had Dorka shoot a portrait session in the French Quarter and Garden District over President's Day weekend and we couldn't have been happier with the results. Dorka really has an eye for the perfect spots for a shot, and is meticulous in her attention to detail. She really puts a lot of effort into her after-shoot editing, and seeing the product we got we couldn't believe how many great photos there were. Highly recommended! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dorka. She shot our wedding and did an AMAZING job, we have so many great photos I can't begin to choose favorites. My husband is a director, so he was VERY picky when it came to choosing our wedding photographer. We loved Dorka's style. We didn't want a ton of posed photos, we wanted someone with a photo journalistic style to capture our day, not spend all of our time posing for pictures. Dorka was totally on board. We didn't want to do a first look and she completely understood and worked with us to make sure we got all the shots we wanted without the first look. She is a wiz at using natural light, and she even shot some of our pics on film. She was great with everyone, able to get amazing genuine smiles and moments captured. Besides the photos being amazing, Dorka was so lovely to be around. She worked so hard, running around to capture everything, she was so sweet to everyone, and she made us feel so comfortable all day. She took a TON of photos and gave us everything. read more

I could not have asked for a better experience in getting my senior pictures taken. I live in Minnesota, and my family was going to take a vacation out to La Jolla over the summer, so my search for a photographer was on! I had actually found her on Yelp and she was my top choice when emailing a few asking for quotes and if they were willing to work with someone out of state. Dorka was the first and best reply I got, which made me happy because her photos amazed me. Not only is her editing modern but her prices are extremely reasonable. She is not your average photographer, and the quantity of photos she edited and I received was incredible. The first interaction I had with Dorka was extremely positive. Just by asking questions to get to know me, and the amount of effort she put in, made me feel her genuine interest in my project. I did not expect to feel so close to a photographer who lives over 2,000 miles away! She made sure to dig deep when getting to know how I wanted my pictures to turn out, and was willing to work with what I wanted while still putting her magic Dorka touch on the places and photos. I felt so comfortable around her and I think that's so very important in booking a photographer!!! Her style is unique and her photos tell a story. Thank you Dorka for telling my story and do yourself a favor... Have Dorka tell yours!! You won't be dissapointed. read more

Writing a review about Dorka and her work is difficult because it is hard to put into words how absolutely outstanding she is! My partner and I hired to Dorka to shoot our engagement photos and wedding after she came highly recommended by a friend. As a same-sex couple, our wedding plans were a little non-conventional. As a result, we were particularly attuned to finding someone who was going to take the time to get to know us personally and truly embrace our vision. From the moment I met Dorka, I knew she was the right choice. We first met at a little coffee shop in New Orleans, and she spent more than an hour talking with us about how we met, what our wedding would be like, and what was most important to us on that day. This was before we had even signed a contract! She continued to impress me with her creativity, artistry, and professionalism throughout the entire process. She does all of this with a comfortable ease that makes taking photos with her a completely relaxed, stress-free, and fun experience. Her photography style captures moments in a way that feels raw, unposed, and spontaneous--her work is truly unique and beautiful. Dorka is no typical photographer. She is an artist and deeply dedicated to each and every project she takes on. She deserves more stars than I can give her on this review...I would hire her again in a heartbeat! read more
