I wish Dorka would have been IN our wedding by the time our experience with her was over! To me, capturing emotion, capturing the feeling in the air is not something that comes naturally to photographers, but was Dorka's baseline standard in her work. Most of the time you never knew she was there as she effortlessly took hundreds of photos of your most important moments and cherished people. We wanted someone who just "got" us. We are not cookie cutter people (at least we don't think so) and Dorka took the time, even from afar (we were coming in From Atlanta) to get to know us intimately. I'm employed as a freelance writer and needed photos of myself for promotional use. I have worked with a lot of fashion photographers but I wanted my photos to look really natural and candid, not like a portrait or anything too posed. We asked Dorka to photograph our family shortly following our daughter's third birthday. I had seen some of her work on her website and blog, and was so impressed with the beauty and unique quality of her images I knew she would be a good choice for us. Simply wonderful! I'm not sure anything I write will accurately reflect the satisfaction I received from using Dorka Photography. I agree with the previous posts that on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, Dorka deserves 10! We live out of state and I planned to propose in New Orleans and wanted to have it captured on film for our families and friends that wouldn't be in town to share it. I found Dorka on-line through Yelp, and was immediately impressed with her great reviews. Thank goodness she happened to be available the days we would be there, and was willing to take us with relatively short notice. I understand this was a rare coincidence in my favor... or in my case, good fate. After trading emails and phone calls prior to the trip, I knew I had found the right person for the job. Dorka listened and provided great suggestions. As the day got closer, Dorka remained ultimately professional and super easy to work with. She was the epitome of patience while I bounced between planned locations for the proposal at least 3 or 4 times prior to the date. When I finally decided on the French Quarter (simple, but most meaningful to us), Dorka went ahead of time to scout locations and pick spots that would be ideal given the time of day and the direction of lighting. She even sent me the photos of places she scouted so I could make a final decision on the location. Lastly, on top of all the other challenges of coordinating plans from out of town, the night before the event, my plans hit a major obstacle and had to be delayed by one day. With short notice, Dorka was kind enough to change her schedule and work with me despite the major inconvenience. Needless to say, when all was done, we couldn't be any happier with the results! If you've seen the portraits on her website and blog, they speak for themselves. There's not a single photo that Dorka took, that I wouldn't be proud to frame and hang in my home. I cannot say enough good things about Dorka. She shot our wedding and did an AMAZING job, we have so many great photos I can't begin to choose favorites. My husband is a director, so he was VERY picky when it came to choosing our wedding photographer. We loved Dorka's style.
