My best friend referred me to this practice and I was a little worried. I had never had a female gynecologist before that I continued to stay with because they always seemed impersonal. I get it though....I'm a woman, she's a woman, but I wanted a woman that could balance their job AND be human at the same time. I found that here!!! I have Dr. Karsenti. LOVE HER! She definitely has that balance that I was looking for. In 2010, we got pregnant. Since there are 3 dr's in the practice, the practice's policy is that the patient visits with all 3 just in case your OB/GYN is not on call when you go into labor. I visited with all of the dr's so that I would have a relationship with them prior to my delivery. I go into the hospital to give birth. No problem, done it before. After giving birth, I had a complication. Dr. Palaez was on call when the complication occurred. She attempted it fix it, and when all other things did not fix it, she sent me to surgery, informed my husband and oldest daughter, and then fixed the issue. Once surgery was over, she made sure that I was alright. Both Dr. Appollon and Karsenti came in to check on me when they came into the hospital. Once I went home, I received phone calls from all 3 dr's to see how I was feeling. I know that is probably standard operating procedure for them, but that made me feel extremely special and especially calm after what happened. Appointments: obtaining an appointment is easy. I call, press a button, speak to a receptionist, and set one. Sometimes it may take some time, meaning the date may be some time out, BUT, if I need it sooner, which has happened, I let them know and they try their best. If I need surgery, Diana sets it up for you (she's awesome as well! She calls you right before to make sure that you have gotten all of your paperwork completed, and that you have done all of your pre-op testing and screens). They also set up your post op appointment when setting up your surgery so that you have one less thing to worry about.

I checked in as soon as I arrived and explained the situation. Despite being an established patient for 8 years, I was told the doctor refused to see me. What disappointed me wasn't the policy itself, it was the complete lack of flexibility, empathy, or attempt to find a solution. No effort to accommodate, no discussion, no offer to work me into the schedule, just a refusal. As a patient, I expect professionalism, but I also expect a practice that values long-standing relationships and understand that circumstances sometimes arise beyond a patient's control. This experience was enough for me to decide to find a new gynecologist, see you never Miami MDs for women.

Unfortunately, he was not in network with my new insurance, and I was forced to switch OBs. My new OB may be good, but Dr. Alvarez is an exceptional OB, and a tough act to follow. His bedside manner and overall demeanor is so calming and comforting. My prenatal visits were seamless every time. I NEVER felt like a number, which is the common complaint in my current OBs office. Although he shares the practice with another OB, I exclusively saw him. Yet, another downfall of my current OB, which rotates you among all three OBs in the practice...not ideal. Dr. Alvarez was there for my 1am delivery, in which he executed perfectly. I cannot say how grateful my husband and I are for all he did. I highly recommend him!

Fine, she made the appointment and waited her 6 weeks to see the Doctor I was raving about. She did, on her way out of the office (she had to take the afternoon off to see the doctor) she encountered an accident and called spoke to someone and told her who she was and appointment time, informed them of the incident and told them she would be late. She called twice after that just to make sure, each time telling them about the problem. Each time reassured that it would be OK. She arrived 1/2 hour late and the staff blew her off telling her they couldn't see her, and said she never called and she would have to make another appointment and come back another time. They didn't tell her this over the phone, and basically called her a liar. This is beyond unacceptable. The Doctor has lost 2 patients because of the staff. No matter how much I like a Doctor, staff that treats me and my family the way they have isn't worth it. See my last update for my full experience as well.

Oh the hassle with insurance companies they blow but I'm kind of glad that I switched otherwise I would not have gone here... The office smellsgood not doctor-like all the time if that maks any sense, and is very, VERY clean. I came early to fill out all the necessary new patient paper work, & I was greeted with all smiles and polite staff. The office is huge, and very comfortable. As soon as 9AM hit I was called in by the nurse & shown the room. Dr. Perez came in soon after & was very polite, smiles, a person very easy to talk to. I've met a couple of the other doctors as well & they are just the same... I could not have asked for a better place to go. I have made early appointments so I would not have to wait long to be called in but even my afternoon visits I am called in right when my appointments are actually scheduled. You know what I mean right? You make an appointment at 1pm, and you get called in at 115-130, then 145 hits and that is when you finally see the doctor. TOTALLY different here! 1PM is your appointment 1PM you are called in, 130PM you are out the door. Great nurses and doctors all the time - 5 stars all around!

My review on his practice: STILLBIRTH DELIVERY on 1.1.15 Longest and most heartfelt review I will write on yelp: From day 1, I never waned to see Dr Tumero, as a close friend of mine had a still birth in 2nd tri under her care. Said friend reviewed her file with head doctor (Fink), both came to the conclusion that closer monitoring and treatment could had made a difference. Fast forward and guess who I get stuck with? Yes, Dr. Tumero Details:I had a regular doctors visit on 12/31/14, during my ultrasound, tech noticed that heartbeat was slow, she quickly called Dr Simmel in and I was asked to head over to baptist for further monitoring. Upon arriving to baptist (5 minutes later, as building is right next door), my daughters heartbeat was detected by monitor used by nurse. Five minutes later, Dr Tumero (who was on duty at hospital) shows up and requests bed side u/s. U/s tech arrived within a couple of minutes and by then, my daughter was gone. Between time of my arrival, check in, blah blah blah, about 10 minutes passed. Though you maybe thinking, 10 minutes is not that long, it is when your child's life is at risk. Knowing what I know now (further testing detected that I have an autoimmune disease which often correlates with still births if left untreated) I understand that OTHER factors COULD have caused my daughters passing, however, we did not know (still don't) what "the cause" was when it was all going down,so my thoughts are: If Dr. Simmel called baptist to let them know that I was heading there with baby with slow heartbeat, why the delay in dr Tumero showing up? My daughter passed away at this hospital, all while we were present. Why was an emergency c- section not done if one minute there was heartbeat and not the next? so many questions. I know that nothing will ever bring her back, but I question the response time and how the situation was handled. ------- As if what I described above is not reason enough as to why to avoid this practice, here are additional mishaps that took place during pregnancy. I had a VERY healthy pregnancy, so my visits were short and to the point. However, there were many mishaps along the way, one of them being that a test which is done during 2nd trimester detecting abnormalities was overlooked. They apologized for that, and during that time I didn't think it was a big deal, but after having lost my child, I wish that every single test had been done. Aside from that, there was a lot of back and forth with medication prescribed (Diclegis for nausea and vomiting) the office sent prescription to my pharmacy for wrong amount (less pills) so I was having to go back for refills every couple of weeks, spending more money per bottler, wasting time and gas. It wasn't until the pharmacist asked me why I hadn't just ordered 100 pills to begin with vs 30 at a time, that we were able to correct the issue by calling obgyn and having them send correct prescription. U/s tech with long hair- this lady is one of the most unpleasant people I have ever met in the industry. I do not recall her name, but I saw her twice early in pregnancy and requested not to see her again. I tried both times to initiate small talk (commenting on her daughter's ballet pictures/ asking about her day) and got nothing. She always had a crappy face on, and was non responsive. Having an u/s done is both exciting and stressful, she did zero to make the experience more pleasant. Please stay away from this place if you are expecting, it is my only suggestion. During a doctor's career, there is no doubt that lives will be lost for x or y reason. I just REALLY feel that my daughter's life could have been spared, if things had been addressed promptly.

Extremely disappointing and unprofessional valet serviceI have been coming to this medical office…read moreregularly, and unfortunately, my experience with the valet service has been extremely disappointing. This is not simply a matter of the valet being "distant" or having a bad attitude. There is a very noticeable difference in the way I am treated depending on the vehicle I arrive in.When I come by myself in my regular car, the valet has told me, "You have to park your car yourself." On another occasion, when the valet area was very busy and there were many cars, he told me, "I'm going to do you a favor and park it for you today because we are full." A valet service is a paid service. Parking my car is not a "favor" being done for me.What makes this situation even more obvious is what happens when I arrive with my husband in his newer sports car. Even when there are empty spaces available, we are suddenly told that only the valet attendants are allowed to park that particular car. The attitude and willingness to provide the service completely change. It is very hard not to notice that the difference seems to be based on the fact that the car is newer, modern, and a sports car.I have also had an upsetting experience involving my mother, who was not treated with the basic courtesy and respect that any customer should receive. This is especially disappointing at a medical facility, where patients and their family members should be treated with patience and professionalism.I want to be very clear: I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for the service I am paying for. If valet parking is offered and customers are paying for it, customers should not be made to feel as though parking their vehicle is a favor. There are usually two attendants working there -- one younger gentleman who is darker-skinned and another gentleman who appears to be somewhat older. I am mentioning this so management can identify the employees involved and actually look into what is happening at this location.I strongly believe the owner or management of Best NRG Parking Services Inc. should be aware of how their employees are representing the company. This type of behavior reflects very poorly on the business and can absolutely cost the company customers.Management should seriously look into how customers are being treated at this location. Everyone paying for valet service deserves the same respect and the same service, regardless of what they drive.

They kept opening the door widely while I was naked on the table, just covered by a piece of paper... this made me uncomfortable. The doctor was not personable or friendly. Even though I was late to my appointment, I still had to wait another 40 minutes because they were that backed up. And I swore I would never use this office again if I need a special procedure. Now they are leaving all their Keys Women in a lurch as they are SUDDENLY closing the Tavernier office, with ZERO NOTICE. (I'm here now and no one has mentioned that they'll be shut down on Friday permanently.) I highly recommend avoiding this disaster.

After meeting Dr. Perez, I felt confident that this would be a good choice for me! Since it's a practice of three doctors (Lievano, Perez, and Collado), you meet with them all throughout your pregnancy, but can schedule appointments with just one for regular care like annual exams. I liked that they're super close to Baptist Hospital which ended up being a great hospital for my delivery. Speaking of, the thing about a practice is that you never know which doctor will be on call so it's best not to have your heart set on having a certain doctor there when you go into labor. On the weekends, they rotate with another practice entirely which I didn't learn until later, and it was a bit scary to know I may have a doctor I've never even met. Dr. Collado ended up being there when the time came and I'm SO happy and thankful! She was awesome the entire time, saved me from having an emergency C-Section, cooperated with my doula, and stayed at the hospital the entire night while we waited for my baby to arrive (and was there early the next morning!). I loved having her so much, I was set on keeping her as my main doctor moving forward. Unfortunately I moved, but would definitely encourage others to make an appointment with her if you're looking for a new gyno. Given how often I had to go there during my pregnancy, I'd say that wait times weren't bad on average, but there were a couple of times that were long, usually when a doctor was unexpectedly out. The nurses were always super kind though and great at taking blood. The ultrasound tech was also nice, and the back office was usually pretty good about helping me with billing issues, insurance, etc. Overall, I'm pleased with my experience. Pregnancy and birth can be super vulnerable and a bit nerve wracking, but I'd trust this team to do it again if I was in Miami.
