Absolutely adore this spot in Surfside! The salads were amazingly fresh and loaded with veggies, cheese and bacon. My friend ordered some tasty fried crabcakes that were honestly the best I've had in a while. Especially with that jalapeno dip. It was a nice dish to share. I ordered the cheesesticks on the side and they were lightly battered and very cheesy. The patio upstairs is perfect to dine outside while enjoying waves and conversation. My vino was also crisp, cold and fairly inexpensive. I was wishing we had stayed for karaoke but there was lots going on and just a fun spot to be at on a Sunday. Very happy we decided on a whim to come here. This will without a doubt be my dining option of choice the next time I come down here for a run or just for some fun! read more

We come for brunch almost every other weekend and Shonda is always there with a smile, knows our name, and provides exceptional service!

Wonderful food, wait staff, and and it's fun to watch the barges go by! We always come back when we're at the beach.

Very unorganized. We were told that the downstairs area was family friendly and we were even directed to sit there by the staff, once we'd already sat and ordered they've threatened to call the cops on us for having children at the bar area?? read more

Dorado's is a crowd pleaser! Oysters, ceviche and shrimp tacos are some of our favorites. Staff is always great and every now and then we caught a few dolphins swimming! read more

Rare that I give a 5 star but I did! Coconut shrimp and fried shrimp great! Boudin balls really good, nice touch with the cheese in the middle. Only issue is it's a little expensive, but it's in a beach town so I get it. Will def be back! read more

was my first time going today and will be my last. our server was undertrained apparently and blamed her poor service on being new, our food was soggy and bland had the Belgian waffle and looked and tasted like mush. 2 of my family members had ordered bloody Mary's of the breakfast menu, which was the ultimate bloody Mary and we got plain underdressed bloody Mary's that were very underwhelming. Also ordered a frozen screwdriver and it was horrible it was awful almost could pass as a virgin drink. then when our food came out she didn't put our food in at the same time so everyone got their food except one person at our table and that sucked unfortunately. our servers attitude was very poor and rude. it was the 30 something yr old with a saggy face and bun. then after our inconveniences she didn't come back to our table and had another woman serve us and apologized for her. My family was very excited to take me out for the first time and i will never be back and will never recommend it for anyone to go. read more

The shrimp fish was rubbery. The chicken tenders weren't great/ I would not come here for a delicious meal. The ambitious is nice for a drink on the water, and the service was friendly. Just wouldn't recommend it for food. read more

TLDR: Dive in cuz you could do a lot worse! Good drinks, nice water view, and a few tasty food items. Visit: Weekend (lunch) Order: Ultimate Bloody Mary: 7.6/10 A mildly spicy Bloody Mary accompanied by a plethora of pickled vegetables, fried oyster, bacon, and a boiled shrimp. It's practically an appetizer! Michelada: 7.4/10 Standard michelada mix, with Tajin around the rim. Can't go wrong. Ocean Water: 7.8/10 Love sweet drinks?! This one tastes like a cotton candy pina colada. It's a doozy cuz it's served in a giant glass goblet. Whipped vodka, blue curacao, pina colada mix, sprite. Raw Oysters: 7.9/10 $1 oysters!!! Do it. Spicy Crab Bites: 8.1/10 Crispy fried crab balls with ranch (maybe ask for the slammer sauce too). The stuffing had a decent amount of crab and had a slight hush puppy sweetness to it. Def not bad! read more

The service here was super fast. We were in & out very quickly! The food was good, decently priced, and filling. The shrimp needed a lot of the shell peeled before eating. The music was a bit loud for the type of restaurant, I feel as if it did not have to be that loud because it wasnt a party-like atmosphere. Our server was kind and the place was great despite that there are no beers on tap and a limited menu. read more

We stopped in for lunch today and were greeted with a big smile welcoming us in. She ended up being our waitress and was so personable and friendly, we were really impressed with her. We loved the view, being right on the water is awesome. I had the spicy grilled chicken sandwich and my husband had a burger. He absolutely loved his burger! My chicken sandwich was really good, but the fries were my favorite! Crispy and really good flavor. We will definitely be back! read more

I found this spot one day just driving around Surfside and decided to head back there yesterday for an enjoyable afternoon on the patio. BOY did we enjoy ourselves!! We walked into a piece of heaven! The cool breeze on the patio was to die for! The music was perfect! Who knew it was Karaoke Sunday?! Wow, what a treat!! Some local lady graced us with her voice as she sang everything from country to Alicia Keys! She was amazing! A few others also graced the stage with their amazing vocals. While listening to the awesome music, we enjoyed some delicious fried fish, shrimp & oysters. They were fried perfectly! And were seasoned just right! We washed it all down with the best Malibu Sunset drinks. What a perfect ending to our Sunday! Can't wait to stop by again! Oh, and the service is impeccable! All of the wait staff is super nice and friendly! Trust you will want to return over & over again! We had such a good time, I forgot to take pics!!! LOL, I will have to remember to do that next time! read more

Good food and service. We say outside on the upper side deck. They had a band playing but it was extremely loud. We must have been sitting right above. It was too much trouble to move but something to consider next time. read more

My husband and I make it a point to go to Dorado's any time we are in the area, which is usually a couple times a year, because the drinks, food, and service have always been great. On our most recent trip, just last week. we ended up going every night because Seth and Rita took the service to the next level by making us, our friends, and my dog, Willie, feel particularly welcomed. I hope they are both still there when we go back as they went above and beyond. read more

Love this place. Great location-under the Surfside Bridge. My daughter brought us here mid afternoon to sit on the back deck for drinks and snacks. All was great. The Calamari is absolutely the best I have ever had in Brazoria county. The Shrimp Poppers and the Boudin Balls are both great too. Our second trip here was just me and my husband for lunch. I wanted some Oysters on the half shell. We find out they also have lunch specials. The oysters were fresh and delicious. Then we ordered the Gumbo and the Grilled Shrimp Alfredo - both lunch specials. And both were GREAT. Service was great and this is a new favorite spot to have drinks and being friends. read more

Came for an early dinner. Atmosphere: bottom level is all open and you can watch the birds, dolphins, boats and anything else that is going by on the water. Service: Rita was great!! No concerns or issues. Food: Mini crab cakes - it's stuff inside a little crab shell. Calamari Burgers Oh and the onion rings YUM Will definitely come back the next time I am in town. read more

We stood at the hostess stand for 10 minutes. It was comical watching them talked about the new year eve set up. One gal finally acknowledged us, said she'll seat us after cleaning the table and walked away with a Windex spray bottle. Ugh, why didn't we walk out?! Ordered oyster rockefeller and grilled shrimps. The grilled shrimps were the only things good. The bed of corns tasted like canned corns. As for the rockefeller, worse ever... read more

the service was so inconsistent!!! servers sat us at the bar area with a family and children, we all ordered and some adults got drinks. we then were told by management that we had to leave or they'd call the cops because we had children in the "bar" area. while there were other tables with younger children. so inconsiderate and just rude. never eating here again!!!!! read more

Great fresh food! I had the fried shrimp PoBoy and it was amazing! Shrimp was fresh and fried perfectly.

Pictures make it look family friendly, but it isn't. They play extremely loud rock music, the A/C doesn't work (they put out fans to their credit, but it just wasn't enough), & the tables were filthy (I'm assuming it was the same bucket of bleach water they use to clean tables because it smelled strongly of bleach, but we wiped up so much filth with a wet napkin). Could have been much better. We went here twice during the more serious times of covid. They were not covid responsible. Hence, not concerned about themselves or the customers. But besides that...service was meh. And the food overly seasoned. I did not leave this place craving anything but a table by the water. Even though it has been a few weeks since going here, all I can think about is how heavy the seasoning was. So much so, why include the seafood? You could not tasted it. There are more and more places opening up in Surfside are that I am not sure I will be back. I think I'd rather cook my own food that eat seasoning. May go back for music. But that food....just thinking about it makes me queasy. read more

Since they have new owners food is good, service is awesome! Have had a few things here, oyster Rockefeller needs to be cooked in a chimichurry sauce though, not sure what they used and the oysters were raw (was still good though) Burger was a mess if you try to cut it in half and try to share it, still good but not quite what we expected. Service: BAD - We arrived at 7:30PM and it took over 75 minutes to get our food after we ordered. They never re-filled water, they never stopped by to say "the kitchen is backed up" or "sorry the food is taking a long time". The kids meal came out last, like 8 minutes after all the other food was trickled to the table. Food: The loaded tots were A+, shrimp tacos were good and came with street corn which was yummy. The Po-Boy was meh. Water tastes dirty. The bathrooms were dirty. read more

We sail to Freeport often so need a place within walking distance. We were used to going to the same place until they disappointed us on a couple of visits. We decided to try Dorado's and so glad we did! The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Staff was friendly. Shorter walk from Surfside Marina so late night drink/walks are not dangerous . The food was good. We had oysters, shrimp and fries. All was delicious, reasonable prices and will definitely return. Our new go to place in Freeport! Thank you Dorado's!! read more

I'm my opinion this the best place in the area to eat. Cool upstairs dining area, right on the water with a cool downstairs bar, "The Well".

Stopped in Saturday night with a big group about 15 people half kids and adults. The waitress did a great job given the disorganization of or group. We had oysters, seafood platters, crab balls, calamari, chips and queso, burgers, shrimp and grill fish. The food and price was outstanding we will definitely be back. The bad Beverage system seems to be broken or out of syrup. The tea tasted like seawater not sure where the get the water from not a bid deal bring your own read more

I have to say I was very disappointed by the food we received last night. The poor girl who served us was trying so hard but it was obvious that she hadn't gotten much if any training and although there were several others working the upstairs at the same time and weren't all that busy it didn't appear there was much interest in helping her out. I ordered the Fish and Shrimp with salad instead of fries the other orders were fish tacos, 2 poor boys and a burger. It took awhile to get the food but it was around 6 on a Saturday night on a holiday so that didn't bother us at all. But when the food came and my plate only had the fish and 3 shrimp which were almost warm but far from hot and the shrimp was so over cooked it was chewy... no Cole slaw, no cocktail sauce, no tarter sauce, no lemon only three small shrimp and a piece of fish. The fish tacos were next to cold as were the poor boys but the fries were nice and hot!! The burger my grandsons said was watery, like too much sauce and no flavor. If this has been our first time there we would not return but we go there all the time and I always get the fish and shrimp and it's always been good and hot. Not last night. I don't blame our waitress because I honestly think she was trying. Management could and should do a better job of making sure she knows what is expected of her. We shouldn't have to pay over $100 to train her. read more

The view is fantastic and that's about where the good stops. It's 90* outside and it was cooler outside than in. It took an hour and 45 mins for our food to arrive and it was only 2 plates. The table behind us left because the kitchen "lost their order". The table beside us was waiting for a hamburger that someone "accidentally served to another table". Glad we tried it but won't be going back. read more

Great, consistent service and menu!! We have been going to Dorado's for a couple of years and they are always solid on their menu and service. Got to have the Ultimate Bloody Marys!!! Excellent oysters and food. A great team of servers and Bar tenders.

Very disappointed. We had been here previously and everything was amazing. Sad to say things have changed. The mushroom appetizer was great. No plates to eat them on. Service was slow. The shrimp Po' boys are on hamburger buns. 4 very small shrimp that were butterflied on sweet Hawaiian hamburger buns. The sandwiches were $13 each. I brought this to the attention of the server. Non commental. Basically blew me off. It's nice. It's clean and we won't be back. read more

I gave 2 stars because the service was good. The food was NOt good. For a place near the water, the fish was super fishy (aka tasted old). My husband ordered the burger, the patty tasted like fake meat, no flavor. Just plenty of condiments on it to add flavor? I ordered the fish tacos. Super salty and had no flavor. Salt does not = flavor. They just sprinkled what seems like Tony's seasoning on everything on the plate. The Boudin balls was the only thing that was actually good. We ordered: Calamari Fried mushroom Boudin balls Mac and cheese and fish for the kids Fish tacos Dynamite burger Waste of $90 read more
