He had had lots of luck with Peabody Supply, so off I went. The saleslady was very condescending, so I asked her when she WOULDN'T be there so I could come back. How's that for a switch? I returned a few days later and told the salesman about my previous encounter. He apologized profusely and said she has been getting a lot of complaints. Okkkkkk. He showed me a few things, and I ordered the Maax shower, toilet, kitchen sink, bathroom cabinetry, bathroom sink, counter, and Kohler faucets. The selection wasn't huge, but I was able to find things that would work. The shower came in several weeks later and was delivered to the house. And a few weeks after that, the kitchen sink and faucets were delivered. So far, so good. A couple of months later, the builder asked if I knew when the rest of my order would be there, and I said it should be within a week or two. At this point, the work on the house was almost complete and the builder was anxious to finish. I called Peabody Supply, and it turns out they never ordered the cabinet or sink for the cabinet--not a good thing, since it takes six weeks to manufacture and deliver and I needed it in three weeks, at most. I went into the store, and my obnoxious saleslady was there (she changed days). She showed me a few cabinets that were in the warehouse, but they were pretty ugly and were wider than what I needed. She slammed down the product book and in an "outside" voice, "told" me that that's all she had. Umm. I left the store and never returned. (Note: Kitchen Associates was able to help with this and had the special order cabinet and Corian manufactured, delivered, and installed in about two weeks, and the resultant cabinet is much nicer...and less expensive...than the one I had originally "ordered." (See my review at http://www.yelp.com/biz/kitchen-associates-sterling#hrid:gTq28iacx7aXg0GTtUMNHQ/src:self .) There were other snafus with my order, but the bottom line is that my experience wasn't too great. Maybe yours will be different. I won't be returning. Good luck. Three stars cuz I'm nice.

The project was exceptionally well planned, and they completed it ahead of schedule with exceptional quality and craftsmanship. We especially appreciated how thoughtfully they worked around our family while we continued living in half of the house -- that flexibility made the project affordable and manageable for us. Throughout the process, Hancock seamlessly coordinated with our architect and structural engineer, showing great flexibility and a true commitment to quality. The results have been amazing -- we're already making full use of the new space, and neighbors have been stopping by with compliments, with several saying they're planning to hire Hancock themselves after seeing the impressive work and speed of completion. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and would not hesitate to recommend Darrell and the Hancock Building Associates team to anyone considering a project in the area. We'd definitely work with them again!

We initially engaged with this company back in November based on the promising designs presented by…read moreAndrew, who impressed us with his creativity and personable approach. However, our enthusiasm quickly waned as we encountered a cascade of issues throughout the project that was supposed to take 2 weeks but ended up lasting 4 months. Our troubles began with a logistical misstep when Andrew was directed to the wrong address by the office for our initial design meeting, more than 45 minutes away from our home. This error forced us to rearrange our schedules unexpectedly--a frustrating start that should have been a warning sign. Despite this setback, we proceeded due to Andrew's likable demeanor and the appealing renderings he created. By early December, we had finalized plans, paid the deposit, and scheduled a start date with assurances from the office. However, as the proposed start date approached in late January, we heard nothing from the office. Repeated attempts to obtain updates from Andrew yielded little, with him admitting difficulty in reaching our supposed project manager, Stephanie. Finally, mere days before the supposed start, Stephanie informed us of a delay due to awaiting parts--an excuse communicated at the eleventh hour and pushing our start date back weeks. Problems continued to mount once work began. During early stages, we were inexplicably billed over $1000 for a new shower valve and minimal additional labor, which was promptly found defective after new installation and required correction that we had to initiate. Miscommunications further plagued the project. Unsupervised workers assumed incorrect specifications for fixtures like the shower head and vanity, necessitating adjustments only when noticed and brought attention to by US, the clients. Moreover, the invasion of our privacy by the master electrician, who entered our secondary bathroom one morning when the lights were on, water was running, and the door was closed, epitomized the company's lack of professionalism and left us feeling VIOLATED in our own home. Administratively, the company proved equally inept. A Scheduled building inspection was missed due to our doorbell wire being cut by the same master electrician who walked in on one of us indecent days prior, costing us days of work. Despite promises in our initial quote, no company representative attended the building inspection (only plumbing and electric had a representative present), and we were nearly charged $495 for their absence until we contested. Critical elements such as shower wall alignments and door installations were botched, requiring extensive rework and further delays. The shower walls themselves took over a month to fix due to a lack of detail in lining up the hexagon pattern that we had selected in the corners of the shower. Not until we escalated this issue to the manufacturer were we acknowledged about our dissatisfaction and offered to make it right. When we finally sought resolution from management, our concerns were met with indifference and deflection. Hervey Afuine, the owner, displayed a dismissive attitude towards our grievances, even threatening legal action when pressed about the privacy violation--an incident he refused to acknowledge or address, yet quoted that the had an "issue" with the use of the word "violated" when describing the situation. In conclusion, our experience with this company fell far short of expectations. While Andrew initially impressed us, the pervasive issues with communication, work quality, and management overshadowed any positive aspects. We are unsure as to how a "project manager" is able to get away with "managing a project" without stepping one foot in on to view the actual project in person. We still have no idea what Stephanie's role was besides being cold, unresponsive, and lackluster in communication. The owner proved to us that he has absolutely no respect for women and only cares about his bottom line. He never once answered one email that we sent and it is clear that he does not like confrontation. KEEP SHOPPING.

Update 11/8/20: see comments on my personal Facebook page…read more(Maureen Holmes) for comments on Robin Boyce after posting my review there. Unfortunately I am not the only one who has endured a bad experience with her. MH I warn anyone who will listen away from this unethical business and owner Robin Boyce. I had the misfortune to be her client and endure her careless, unprofessional, dishonest and ultimately abusive and vulgar treatment. My "custom kitchen" arrived without the custom elements and with a grossly oversized refrigerator. The kitchen designer blames someone else for a major kitchen error and refuses to fix it! (See photos) I had the exact same experience with the shutters and the custom stair-runner I ordered from her. They were both delivered with errors and missing parts, and Design West has done NOTHING to correct its errors. This is the worst experience I've ever had with another human being, period. I never received an apology on any mistake I swear to God. That's when I realized too late I had hired the wrong person. Robin Boyce/Design Center West scammed me by promising professional results and delivering dirt. Robin Boyce then turned verbally abusive when confronted with her easily disproved lies. (I have all documentation to prove my charges.) This last point deserves special mention. When I expressed my dismay at the errors, delays and lack of accountability, her demeanor shifted immediately from friendly to combative and borderline violent. It was a shock to learn the owner wasn't just a sleaze but mentally unhinged too. When I confronted her in her store after she ignored my contractor's emails and texts, she began screaming profanities at me while hurling insults about my appearance and character, which I presumed was an intimidation tactic. That felt sickening, but it worsened when she came at me with her arm pulled back as if to throw a punch, but thankfully she stopped herself before landing her fist in my face. I feel certain the only thing that stopped her was a possible assault charge. I would feel sorry for Ms Boyce if she wasn't a thief, and if her emotional instability didn't manifest in such an ugly manner. But no mental state excuses her dishonesty, mentally healthy or not. Not a word of this review is hyperbole. I lost thousands of dollars and was blindsided by a venomous verbal assault because I had the temerity to call out Robin Boyce on her mendacity and fraud. I could provide a colorful litany of her actions, but suffice it to say that it involved a lot of obscene finger, hip and hand gestures. Incidentally, her staff just sat there like dummies the entire time and let it all happen. Apparently they don't have an issue working for such a repulsive woman. Prior to my dealings with her, Robin was verbally abusive to my contractor on multiple occasions as well when he asked her about delayed deliverables. Following is an example of one the few correspondences between him and Robin that isn't littered with her F-bombs: "Shut up. Stop talking. Don't tell me what to do. Its not Maureen... its you. I'm surprised guys take your mouth, and the way you talk down to others; I suspect you've been punched a few times." This is the first---and I hope last--bad review I ever had to write. Let this brutally honest review serve as a public service announcement to warn others away from this troublemaker. Do not hire Design Center West. You will pay a premium for sloppy, mediocre results, and the owner will curse you when you express your dissatisfaction. This has been a yearlong nightmare that only ended after I hired someone else to fix all of her mistakes. Caveat emptor!

They understood what we wanted and suggested design that would work well. They assisted in choosing cabinetry, flooring and counter tops that all worked well together. Tom came originally to scope out the construction details and what would need to be done ex. vent for stove through attic, sub panel for electric system. Once the construction started Eric was the lead carpenter. He supervised the whole project. He was great. He kept us informed about what was happening when. He also introduced us to each of the sub contractors who came to do work. All were pleasant and professional. They put protective coverings on floors and doorways to limit dust. At the end of each day they cleaned up and vacuumed the work area. When one of the cabinet doors came in the wrong size, there was no question about replacing it. One thing I really appreciated was that construction did not start until they had received all of the cabinets, flooring, countertop etc so work went smoothly and was completed without delays.

We worked with Alyssa to help design everything, something she has great skill and a true eye for detail. She didn't try to push products or oversell us. If anything, she provided some suggestions on how to lower cost (used remnants for the quartz countertop; suggested comparing costs to Home Depot). Once the design was finalized, I was extremely impressed with Eric, the contractor who installed the island himself and oversaw the other contractors. He was excellent communicating with me each and every day. He noticed some inconsistencies in the wood on the cabinet doors of the island and immediately ordered new one (he still installed the original and came a few days later with the new doors). Everything was just so professional. I haven't had too many experiences with contractors in the past, but every one I (and my family, for that matter) have had for the most part have been negative. The project doesn't start on time, finish on time, guys no-show for no apparent reason, etc. This was the opposite. Watch City had the chance to move up the timeline, which fit into my schedule. As a result, the project was done a week early. If you're looking to do any sort of work on your kitchen, definitely give Watch City a look.
