Safety issue with severe metal damage on original ORB. 1st tech said will be secure.

Pros - [ ] 10% return customer discount - [ ] Next day appointment - [ ] Communication through emails & texts. - [ ] Friendly, on time techs that explained what work would be done. Cons - [ ] 2 visits to repair. 1st visit - $600+ to replace broken spring. 2nd visit - $200 ORB installed to reinforce original damaged ORB. - [ ] During initial repair, expressed concern to tech about unsafe severe metal damage to Operator Reinforcement Bracket/ORB (see picture) 1st tech said it will be secure. - [ ] Unsafe severe metal damaged ORB brought to manager's attention who deemed the bracket needed to replaced/repaired for an additional $229, which included a 20% discount since tech was just out there. Spoke with Angelina w/Door Mart, explained if bracket was repaired/replaced at initial visit we shouldn't have to pay labor since contract has a 30 day labor guarantee. She said no labor cost but will see if manager will bring down the cost of the part. Door Mart sent me an email with an in-depth explanation of the high cost of doing business in California. And was quoted $200. After researching prices, I thought I was generous in offering to pay $150. (See picture of part cost) Was told "200.00 out the door is as low as we can go on this product." - [ ] Do not appreciate 1st tech's discounting our concern over unsafe severe metal damage and not replacing/enforcing it in initial repair visit, especially when manager deemed it needing to be repaired. Or was it to receive an additional $200?! - [ ] I feel it is unethical business practice for the extreme markup in replacement parts. Researched parts average prices - Garage Spring $100-200. ORB $30 - 80. - [ ] And like other customers have continually mentioned, would like to see the costs itemized on the invoice.

Old sensor

The technician who came to installed it did not do a good job in the first place. But later on, he fixed it. On the top bar- fixing the belt to the motor, one screw was missing, though it installed the new Genie -1055 model, did not install the new sensors. Also, I need to instruct him and help him to fix the switch to the wall. He did not wish to go to the attic to wiring the switch to the wall. When he tried to clip it to the wall and wired it, I asked him to fix the switch with old wiring. When I called the corporate office to get the invoice breakdown of $700.00 (the technician told me the material cost is 600+ plus the labor), they refused to give me a breakdown. When I checked the Genie -1055 online price, it is around $175-250. I believe the charge is a little excessive. But, it is my mistake -not doing my own research, and I have to be responsible for it. The company representative promised to send a technician and fix the sensors the next day. As promised, the technician came and apologized for the miscommunication. he was a very professional and very good gentleman. The technician installed new sensors and missing screws. He also gave me the old sensors to keep with me for later use -in case new sensors go bad. Also, he asked if there was anything else to do. I said no. I am happy with what he did. I am now satisfied with the overall service. I recommended this Door-Mart and their service, but please discuss the prices and products type, the model, etc., that they will install before the services are obtained. Especially, request the service breakdown in the invoice. It will avoid lots of disappointments.

My new garage door was installed today! I couldn't be happier with the results. Ted the technician had a tire blow out not far from my home but stayed in contact and was given advance notice of arrival and delays. Ted was so personable and friendly he explained what he was doing and parts he replaced and even showed me the quality products his company uses. Ted is absolutely a jewel to that company. I let my husband know, and after taking a look, he noticed something was wrong with the spring, which was something he was not comfortable fixing himself. He ended up having to manually lift the garage door just so I could get my car out and make it to my appointment. From the moment I left the house to the time I got back (about 2 hours total), my husband was able to find Neighborhood Garage Door on Yelp, contact them, and have someone out to our house within less than an hour. Talk about fast service, especially on a busy Sunday like Super Bowl Sunday! We were lucky to have Reggie come out, and he was absolutely fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, explained what was wrong with our garage spring, and took his time to make sure everything was working properly before finishing up. By the time I got home, Reggie was basically already done putting in the new spring and our garage was back to normal like nothing ever happened. At the end, he gave us a reasonable quote and preferred method of payment and even honored a military discount since my husband is active duty. Huge thank you to Reggie and Neighborhood Garage Door for the quick response, professionalism, and peace of mind. Highly recommend if you ever find yourself in a garage emergency!

Got a call later that it would be closer to 6PM, but they assured us they were coming that night. No problem. Then got a call later saying it would be 7:30PM. At 7PM we got a text saying they were on the way. We called at 7:45PM and the tech said he was on his way home. He said he was texting with us and rescheduled. Which is weird because we texted us 45 minutes ago saying he was on the way. He told us he would be there by 10AM the next day. We hadn't heard anything by 9AM so we called him, no answer. Texted him, no answer. Eventually he responds and says they are sending someone else. That guy showed up at 10:30 and fixed the problem. Replacing two springs cost $950. He gave us a minor break in the price, since they were, you know, over 18 hours late. He was very nice. Delays happen, but it felt like they booked us for a time slot they couldn't meet. Had they said we can't come today, we would have called someone else, which I guess is why they told us they could make it.

Jeremy arrived and wanted to now what the problem was. I thought I'd written that in my request…read more I demonstrated that the garage door closed and then opened again right away. Jeremy looked at the door and basically told me it needed to be replaced. He made it clear that he couldn't do any work on an iDrive. He talked about the springs. Jeremy took a look at our other garage door which has a LiftMaster system that we had installed when we moved in (the iDrive had been installed by previous owners). He pointed out the springs and motor on the LiftMaster. Jeremy gave pricing that seemed to leave out the motor, covering the springs/torsion parts, I guess. Motor cost would have to be added or door would have to be opened manually. I was not ready to commit to the numbers given. I asked if he could at least close the garage door and was told only if I made a deposit and agreed to the job, that no work is free. No thanks. Then Jeremy talked about how he could give me a discount if I wanted the job done that day or even the next day. I said I wanted to think about it. I never received anything in writing regarding cost and details. Certainly felt like Jeremy was rather pushy and not inclined to be helpful. After Jeremy left and as I was writing to a company who stated clearly that they work on iDrive systems, a woman from TBS Garage called to confirm that a technician was coming. What? I told her he had already been here and was gone. He couldn't work on an iDrive system and why did they send someone when I clearly stated that I have an iDrive. She apologized. She called back a few minutes later, saying they would send a technician who was able to work on iDrive systems. Why didn't they send that person in the first place? Nevertheless, a different company was already on its way. I told her I would call back if need be. I hired a different company to do the job.
