17 members of my family and I reserved our seats for the "Ghost Tour" last Thursday night for what we thought would be another fun Door County adventure. Door County trolley allowed "roadies" for which many of us participated in the opportunity. I purchased 2 margarita slushes and 2 white claws for later. Prior to departure, the host "Asher", who wore a black robe and talked in an entertaining voice, announced a few rules: stay seated, throw trash away and have fun while explaining there are no "jump scares" on the trolley tour. Our first stop pulled over a white house alongside the busy highway while cars zoomed past. Cute story. Our second stop, an old funeral home in Fish Creek; it was nearing sunset at this point. We all entered the unlit funeral home guided by a lady in black. There were candles and exquisitely arranged "spooky" decor. As my sister-in-law and I explored the next room and entered through a hallway, my sister-in-law SCREAMED! There stood Asher waiting around the corner to catch someone in a scare (although there were no jump scares on this tour. We shared a laugh and continued the tour. The next adventure took us to Peninsula State Park. We all ooh'd and ah'd at the view of the sunset. We departed the trolley at the Eagle Bluff lighthouse. It was really quite dark. Asher requested a volunteer to place a lantern on the 13th sidewalk stone-so my niece and great niece did just that. We all gathered around the lantern and listened to Asher tell his story. At a break in the story, I let out a blood curdling scream - all in good fun of course. Many of the tour members jumped - and that's when Asher got serious. This witty, story laden fellow became quickly enraged. He asked me to depart the story area and return to the trolley immediately as screaming was uncalled for. I did as he asked - fully owning my scream and its outcome. Upon return the trolley, Asher and I had somewhat of a heated exchange which included my explaining, "no one said we couldn't scream." He didn't seem to care; he also referenced at this point of my having too many drinks (which were only 2 at this point). Nor did another angry patron whose teenage daughter had been too scared by the scream and needed daddy's rescuing. We all boarded the trolley when Asher explained that the tour was concluding early as a result of my actions. I said, "can you please allow the group to continue their tour if I agree to remove myself from the tour?" Captain Asher agreed, and I departed the trolley. I escorted myself down to the foot of Eagle Bluff lighthouse guided only by the sliver of sunlight laying against the far reaches of Green Bay. And I sat there, in the dark, hoping my family could locate me. I managed to text my location out before my phone died. I sat and I waited, at the cold, dark Green Bay water's edge. I was found 2 and a half hours later. We tried to call and follow up with the owner of Door County Trolley. On the phone he became enraged, yelling and screaming on the phone calling our family immature and resulting to many other profanity name calling directed toward my family. I was flabbergasted at the owner's unprofessional handling of the entire situation. If you have teenagers that scare easily, I do not recommend they attend the ghost tour. Additionally, if you care to have any more fun than just what is permitted, I do not recommend the ghost tour. read more

For a Girls' Weekend, a few friends and I did the Premier Wine Tour with the Door County Trolley. It was such a blast! We went on a chilly October Saturday but it was so enjoyable! Our trolley driver (Dave, I believe) made the experience even more so. He was knowledgeable about Door County and the wineries, but also very kind and friendly. He played great music and made sure everyone was relaxed. Lunch at Galileo's was delicious and hit the spot. My only critique would be on which wineries we attended. I would give Door Peninsula Winery a 5-star rating! The tour was great and the wine tasting was fantastic! Not only did we learn more about the varieties of wines, but we were also taught how to properly drink a wine. We were given the opportunity to try many different wines and the atmosphere was great. It was difficult starting with such an amazing winery because the others paled in comparison. The White Cottage, Red Door winery only offered hard ciders, which was kind of disappointing. Simon's Creek Winery had a limited amount of wines to taste, none of which were good and the bartender was very rude to me and my friends. The Harbor Ridge Winery was very interesting and I loved the cheese samples also provided. They had a delicious chocolate wine that suited the autumn season very well. Overall, I would suggest potentially substituting Simon's Creek Winery and White Cottage, Red Door Winery with different wineries. Though some of the wineries were slightly disappointing, the overall experience was excellent. My friends and I had a great time, learned a lot about wine and our own wine preferences. This would be a great tour for anyone (Girls' Weekend, birthday trip, anniversary, etc.). Thank you to Door County Trolley for a great time! read more

We had a great time on the newest trolley tour offered: 'Murder and Mayhem'! The moment we got to the trolley station we were greeted at the ticket booth and told which trolley we would be on and then we had time to browse the beautiful and stocked gift shop full of your Door County memorabilia. We were also told we could bring food and drinks along--they had a bar and drinks that we purchased! Our trolley fit all of the passengers comfortably, but when they recommend arriving 30 min early--they mean it!!! The trolley beside us was filled to the brim and parties arriving late would have a hard time fitting and sitting together as a family/group. Our tour guide was friendly, polite, and a great driver! Along our route he played an awesome 'murder themed' music playlist that got everyone in the mood! Before each stop he gave us a little clue (item from his briefcase) to get us thinking about the next murder. The stories were scary and kind of sad at times and were between the time periods of 1904-2001, so some were recent and three stops brought you to Sturgeon Bay residential areas. Overall it was a great tour for an evening filled with interesting and mind boggling murders. If you aren't spooked and enjoy stories then this is a tour for you! read more

We went on the winery trolley tour and had a fantastic time! We were a group of 5 ladies in our 40's, and were there November 12. It was a gorgeous day, and we had a nearly full trolley (25). Our driver Bruce was absolutely awesome! He was funny, informative, always accommodating to everyone on board, and always smiling. You could tell he really enjoyed his job, and that reflects in his truly positive attitude at all times and gets passed along to all the tour patrons. He played fun music to sing along to between winery stops as well as giving us info about the area. All of the wineries were good and had different things to offer. Sometimes I wished we had just a bit more time as it can get a bit crowded in the tasting rooms when you are sharing them with other folks not on the tour. But we had to stay on schedule to get to lunch on time. Our lunch was delicious and flowed well with the rest of the tour. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing day with some tasty wines and cheeses. The staff was outstanding, and it was very well organized. NIGHTMARE! Physically grabbed by owner! Sexual harassment the entire tour! The only two single women on the tour and it only took minutes for most folks on the Trolley to engage in the pack mentality. The harassment was relentless...the Trolley driver was made aware of it and didn't stop it. Imagine being stuck on a trolley with NO way back to your car (many miles away) having to endure such reprehensible behavior..."men" walked into the women's bathroom and opened the stall door my daughter was using...laughter! Jokes! "He has to pee" and the men's room was full. Attempted to talk with the owner...he refused saying our issues were with his customers. Actually our issues started with him when he grabbed my daughter by both shoulders and spun her around. Filed a police report. Door County Trolley would not cooperate with the investigation. Ladies, you are not safe on these tours! Bring a large bodyguard or better yet, enjoy the natural beauty Door County has to offer....never again and I will continue to tell our story so all women are truthfully informed.... read more

Booked this Trolley service on 10/7/2018 at 11:15 am. We were actually driving in from another part of Door County and we did not think we would make it in time...but we got in with two minutes to spare. Boy, was this worth it. We were completely new to Door County and we figured that a tour would be a good place to start. We were not wrong. The tour was excellent and it really highlighted the great areas of Door County to see. The history, sights and sounds of the tour all combined to not only get people to appreciate the area, but to really get a handle on what to do next. I also can't say enough good things about our guide, Boyd. He was even nice enough to delay the tour for me to get the cell phone that I forgot in my car. Wildly animated and entertaining, it was a pleasure to hear someone describe his home town and share it with a bunch newbies. Run...don't walk...to really get a handle on Door County. read more

We have come to Door County annually for the last 12 years. This year, our Pumpkin Patch Festival was a wash out so we decided to book a trolley tour to fill some time. What an amazing choice!!! We will be back again. John, our tour guide, was from Sister Bay and was knowledgable and entertaining. From the start, they pulled our kids aside (7 and 8) and gave them special Co-pilot seats up front. They loved it! They had the best view and John called on them a few times to help out. Kept them entertained which is tough for that age on a guided tour. The trolley station is beautiful and you can get a drink (adult or not) for the ride and a nice selection of Door Couty souvenirs. A really enjoyable experience and a well run operation. We'll be back to try the ghost tour next fall and when the kids are a little older will invest the 5 hours in the lighthouse tour. Cannot say enough...try them out!!!! read more

My hubby and I took the ghost trolley on a whim while in Door County. We weren't expecting much other than something to do for a few hours. We couldn't have been more surprised with how fun this was. Our driver, Ross, was engaging the entire trip, telling stories beyond the ghostly tales we were following. Not only did we see and learn about the things you'd expect on such a tour, but I actually left feeling like we knew a bit more about the historical aspects of Door County in general, some of its major landmarks, and more. It was tasteful in respect for the dead but also intriguing and "spooky". I recommend going early and enjoying a drink at the station and perusing some of their cute sale items. The staff were beyond friendly and added to our enjoyment of this entire experience. Bonus: Due to the secluded nature of the lighthouse we toured we saw the Northern Lights! read more

I did the Craft Cocktail tour with a group of 6 other bridesmaids for an upcoming wedding. I would HIGHLY recommend this for a more laid-back and relaxing weekend activity. Our driver was fantastic: great driver, very social, and a great sense of humor. A few things to be mindful of: you can order any drink you want (there's not a special drink at each), there are a few 20-minute drives, and the lunch wasn't our favorite. For lunch, we stopped at a sushi place and were given three options: a pulled pork sandwich, jambalaya, and a tuna salad. Most people got the pulled pork, but the coleslaw that was on the sandwich had a weird taste that affected the rest of the sandwich. Despite the lunch being a bit of a miss and a few longer drives, I would still recommend this to anyone visiting Door County. read more

"Special" Ed was our tour leader for our Cheese, Chocolate and Wine tour. We love his narration and had him for the Murder and Mayhem Tour, which we also loved. The tour took us to a Cheese Factory we were not aware of and now will visit regularly. It even included a paired wine tasting. The Chocolate shop we visited in Sturgeon Bay had a wonderful selection of vintage candies as well as all the homemade candy you could wish for. We only bought enough for an army! The wine tasting at the Peninsula Winery was very generous and there were so many wines to choose from. The tour also included a delicious lunch in Sturgeon Bay and I have to say that every minute of this tour was well worth enjoying. I'm coming back to bring more family on this tour! Todd was AWESOME! He made things fun and was informative. However, the last stop on the tour was disappointing. We stopped at Sonny's for lunch and a beer. The lunch was rushed, the food cold and bland and that's being generous. They said we'd get DOOR COUNTY cherry cheese cake. What a joke. The cheese cake was a plain ole cheese cake with a single cherry on top of the cheese cake, the cherry was clearly from a can. Hardly a Door County cheese cake. The beer was ok at best. When we got to the "taproom" we didn't have many options on beer choices and the one I selected (I don't remember which I had, as I'm writing this 3 days later). Was ok at best. I would NOT Recommend SONNY's. Over all the tour was good. I'd do it again. In fact I'm planning on scheduling another for next year. read more

My wife and I had an awesome time on the Ghost Tour with Door County Trolley. Our driver and Ghost Host, Special Ed, did a fantastic job in driving and story telling! He has a great sense of humor as well! While reviewing my pictures after the tour, I realized that I had captured a ghost peeking at me through the curtains while I had been taking pictures outside of the Alexander Noble House Museum in Fish Creek (I was the last person to come downstairs from the tour and no living people were upstairs at the time of my pic). He was peeking out at me from the upstairs room which was the examining room for the lady doctor. If you wish to experience a real Ghost Tour with real ghosts, then I would highly recommend this one while visiting Door County, Wisconsin. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by how much our group (teens to seniors) enjoyed the Door County ghost trolley experience in May 2023. Not just a ride-and-listen ... we got out of the trolley to tour a haunted house, a cemetery, and another spooky area. No jump scares, just several richly-detailed stories that gave us chills! As we rode from one location to the next, our experienced tour guide/driver entertained us with local history, fun facts, and several spine-tingling true tales. Just when you think you'll never sleep again, the tour guide lightens the mood on the drive back and provides lots of laughs, too. My tip: geneapply bug spray (Deep Woods OFF) before the tour. And fully charge your phone ahead of time, so you can photograph the spirits. read more

We had a bachelorette party on this tour and had spoken to everyone ahead of time to let them know we would be doing a few special things for the bride to have fun. We had a great time with each other laughing and enjoying each other's company. Bruce didn't care for our chattiness on the trolley and we also got reprimanded at one of the winery's when we were having fun together. None of us felt we were being too loud or rude at all. We were trying to have a blast but this quickly got ruined when we were yelled at. We were paying customers too and apparently on this tour it is frowned upon if you talk or laugh. None of us will return and will let others know how terrible this ended up to be. Very upsetting. read more

We took the wine trolley tour for my bachelorette weekend in Door County and it was an amazing experience for our group! Kirk was our driver and he was so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. He told us some fun spots to visit while we were there and offered to take our group photos at each winery we stopped at. He was a huge part of our group having so much fun, thank you Kirk! Seeing him on a tour the following day after ours was icing on the cake as he remembered all of us and stopped to say hello. The wineries we got to visit were all so nice and accommodating for our group. The trolley tour was a great way to see all that Door County had to offer and I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting! read more

We did the wine brew and spirits tour!!! Todd our driver was amazing, very knowledgable of the area. We loved how it supports locals and was founded by a guy w a simple dream. We are low maintenance travelers and this was the way to go BC they have everything all set up, you just show up and they take you to the tastings. We spent ample time at each place. Lunch at crate was delicious and best part was niether of us had to worry about driving and you could take a drink for the road. We also got picked up and dropped off at our hotel for an extra fee but we thought it was worth it and a great way to tour. Also the trolley is super cute. My mom, sister and I went on the Premier Wine Tour while enjoying a mother-daughter weekend away in Door County. Our driver, Ed, was wonderful and made our tour that much more fun and enjoyable with his comedy and personality. We visited 4 wineries and had a fabulous lunch at Galileo's. Each winery was very fun, and we felt that the tour offered a great selection of stops. I have visited Door County (and thus the wineries) in the past, but the tour included a few stops at places I had not been to before, which was great! We would definitely recommend this tour, and we are already planning on trying one of their other tours on our next visit. Thanks for a great time! read more

The Door County Trolley was the HIGHLIGHT of our vacation. Carl was our master driver and host. I can not describe him in words. He is elegant, smart, humorous, masculine, handsome, and charming. He is everything I want in a man. Master Carl showed us all over Door County and showed us all the hot spots in town. Not only was he HILARIOUS, he ruffled my jimmies. As a former history teacher, Carl was gave us the history of Door County and how the islands got their names. If you go to Door County, TAKE THIS TOUR right away when you get here. He'll tell you about all the restaurants to eat at and tourist attractions to see. You made our trip worth it Carl. read more

This was our second event with Door County Trolly and we can't wait for our next one! Our driver Dave was incredibly knowledgeable on the entire Door County peninsula! He was able to apprise us of current events happening in the area as well as the historical significance of many landmarks that were beyond the scope of the lighthouse tour. He even gave us a suggestion on a fantastic scenic route for our drive home which we thoroughly enjoyed. Dave did all of this while being open to questions and entertaining us with humor all day. I recommend the lighthouse tour and look forward to a tour every single time we are in town. read more
