I give them credit for making home-made donuts, but they're only so-so. Nothing tasted really spectacular and the donuts were tiny compared to places like Kane's and Donna's. read more

We stopped by at 2pm on a Sunday not knowing they were closed, and an older man (his name is Jim) told us "We still have donuts" and went and still sold us a couple. Not only that, I tried to give him a tip for his kindness and he took it and went and got me another donut. It made my entire week. Oh and they have the best glazed donuts I've ever had, you are doing a disservice to yourself if you don't stop. read more

Wow, I am so spoiled by living near this place. It is my secret reward when I get out of an appointment down the street. The glazed donut twists are to die for. Also don't forget to look down in the glass case, not just on the shelf behind the counter. I wanted to check and see if I could bring these to a family event, where there would be people with food allergies. It turns out that the entire place is peanut free and tree nut free. When the girl working didn't know about soy, she called and made the baker's wife wake him up to ask. Turns out that their oil is a palm and soy blend, so no donuts for the event. But the fact that she went that far out of her way to answer my question rocked my little world. read more

Never had a thing for donuts until I can here. They taste like heavenly air. I never knew a donut could not give you that sinking, heavy bowling ball feeling. This will change you forever. I love the lemon and the Gracie and the glazed and the coffee roll (which was a birthday gift to myself)! Oh man...I love them all!!! read more

What Dunkins used to be. Old school donuts done right. Pick some up, you're welcome ahead of time.

I wish this store had some more creative flavors, but otherwise, their donuts are as good as it gets. Soft, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet - try to come here in the mornings when the donuts are still fresh and warm. I tried the Honey Dip Donut (which is just your plain glazed donut), and it had to be one of the top 5 donuts I had in my life. Service was fine when I visited, so I'm assuming that some of the employees may have been changed around. read more

Its brownie toffee ice latte, and they don't have it for whatever reason. I came in twice and the first time the girl said they only had it hot. Aren't all lattes hot...until you add ice? The next time another girl looked and said she didn't have it. I won't be coming back. I always get a strange vibe from this place but I really wanted to try that latte... read more

Located on main street in downtown Medford, Donuts with a difference doesn't let it's small space get in the way of making donuts with more character and flavor than all the dunkin' donuts in Massachusetts. This small place is definitely a local favorite that people all over Mass will visit to bring home boxes of donuts. The honey dip twist tasted just like a regular glazed donut--so I'm not sure if that's what it is really supposed to be or not. I was sort of expecting some honey to shine through. Nevertheless, I can see why it's their best selling donut--it was airy and fluffy unlike anything I've had before. A bit different than your melt-in-mouth krispy kreme, this donut had the lightness of a cloud, with just the right amount of chew to make the donut stick around in your mouth. The Gracie is a cinnamon raisin old-fashioned donut with a crackly exterior, and caky interior that had great cinnamon raisin toast flavor. Great little local spot you have to check out! read more

Donuts With A Difference - Honey Dip Twist and Gracie (Cinnamon Raisin) Bar - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Medford, Massachusetts

Weird location/inside, but really tasty donuts! The road was hell to get to, hut the honey crawler was sooo good!

Best donuts and owners. Donuts are always fresh and full of variety. Never a disappointment

My husband gets the Boston cream donuts from this place every time we're going through Medford Square. They're only $1 so it's hard to say no. Service is nice, though we usually just get a donut to go. Always freshly made. Great to have found this little local shop. read more

This is the best kept secret in Medford. My experience with donuts in the Boston area since moving here has been basically hipster donuts or Dunks. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good hipster donut. But since discovering Donuts with a Difference, I've been hooked. Firstly, their donuts are always fresh. If you go early, you will likely get to choose from a variety. If you go later, you'll have to take what you can get. Believe me, it's worth it to go early. Honey dip, jelly glazed, maple, and the coffee roll are my faves. These are just good old fashioned donuts in a no-frills shop. Delicious. And while the staff is sometimes frazzled during a rush, I've never had a negative experience. Oh yeah, and it's CHEAP. read more

Most delicious doughnuts I've ever tasted, and I've tasted a lot. (The only other donut shop that compares with this one is out of business - it was Lori-Ann's, on Bunkerhill Street in Charlestown.) read more

Donuts don't look amazing but they are! They are the lightest , fluffiest , tastiest donuts! Would definitely go back! Make sure you go early! read more

You won't find any foo-foo donuts here just straight-forward-old-school-tasty goodness. I was just going to get just one but I forgot to bring cash and the minimum to use a credit card is $5 so I upped my order to a 1/2 dozen. I made some people very happy when I stopped by their office with some fresh (still warm) donuts. read more

I'm pretty sure "the difference" is lard. Damn that is tasty. Has that fresh-baked home-made taste.

Sweet older man running this genuine, old-school donut shop. Best donuts this side of the Mystic.

First time I went in, Sunday July 17th. I asked how long they have been open, I was told 30 years! Where have I been!!! Whenever we have family sleep over I usually go out and bring them a special treat for breakfast. The past few times it has been a donut shop in Boston. The donuts from here, Donuts with a Difference, are a third of the cost (compared to Boston) and so much better tasting. The young lady helping me out, as I was looking at the donuts, stated her favorite was the maple glaze . OUTSTANDING ! The dozen were gone in 20 minutes. Lets just say I would end up throwing away a few when I brought home the very expensive donuts from Boston. You need to go try this place out. A hidden gem! read more

Oh my word, these donuts are fantastic. I take everyone who visits from out of town and have yet to hear anything other than stellar reviews from them as well. Definitely get there early, as a lot of the options sell out pretty quickly, but I don't think you can go wrong here, regardless of what is and is not sold out. read more

Fantastic, melt-in-the-mouth fresh classic donuts. Not too many bits of bacon or salted caramel and other such unnecessary accoutrements. Simple home-style donuts that taste like REAL food. Honey twist a must-get. read more

Holy hell that was some of the best donut I have ever had!!!!! I got s cinnamon and lemon glazed. Super fresh and the flavor can be best. I'm not a big writer so don't take the short post for anything but that. AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS read more

I have never been in. My Co-workers will pick up donuts form here a few times a year. These donuts are not only addicting, they are amazing. read more

DONOT pass this DONUT shop! Definition of the local humble hole in the wall donut shop, the honey twist ranks 11 on a scale of 10 and ditto for the "Gracie" twist and maple donut. Donuts made at 6 but available at 7am so for that special weekend treat, or more, this is the place!! read more

I LOVE the donuts here!!! They make the donuts fresh everyday. The glazed donuts are the best! They literally melt in your mouth. They definitely deserve The Best of Boston. I love all the employees, especially the owners. Anyone who has something to complain about is crazy. read more

We swung by on a Saturday afternoon when they were almost out, so we didn't have many choices. I got a regular honey-dipped and coconut cake ring, while the hubby got a chocolate-frosted. It was a terribly cold winter's day, and the donuts looked a little cold themselves, so I was refreshingly surprised at how soft and light they were inside. While the flavors weren't gourmet like Union Square donuts, these were a sweet sweet deal at just over a buck for each yummy donut. Having recently stopped by one of NYC's newest faddiest donut places and having shelled out $3 for a tiny just-ok donut, these are a steal, and totally worth it! The shop seems like an old family-run business too- very cute :) read more

came to grab some donuts and coffee this place was highly recommended by a very good and close friend friendly staff line moves very fast shoes selection lots of places fit very good lick or very clean I like this place a lot or recommend it to anybody and everybody read more

If you are craving good coffee turnaround and go elsewhere. The donuts are Kosher if you searching for that, but they are nothing special.

I am not even a donut person, but love Donuts with a Difference! They're delicious and you can tell they're not the typical donut. It's a nice spot to just sit and eat while reading the paper or just to chat with a friend. Requires parking at metered parking. read more

Great donuts, some of the best, but so inconsistent that I can't come here anymore. They never have donuts on the weekend. Drive down to see literally six donuts on the shelf. They can't keep up. read more

Feel like getting jacked up on sugar? Hit this place early and go for raised anything. Light airy cake without the stale grease taste that haunts you for the rest of the week say the real cinnamon cinnamon. Seedy looking I'd never sit there just grab and go. The complaints about service have happened to me but really? Its a doughnut hole in Medford Square not the White House. Not not a good enough reason to skip it for a chain shop. read more

This is a great old school donut shop. Best donuts by far you can't just eat one. The glazed jelly is amazing. The service is fast and friendly. read more

I love this place because it is small and secluded from everything else... The donuts are freshly made every morning and sell pretty quickly as the day progresses!! The staff is friendly and really cooperative!! They make sure that their customer is satisfied!!! I love the donuts here.. they're so tasty and way better than dunkin's donuts by far!!!! I come in here often before or after work and i don't think ill stop!! :D read more

Fresh kosher donuts every day. Awesome close-knit atmosphere. Great customer service, competitive prices, and I am a huge huge HUGE fan of the maple donut! read more

With a Difference is right! I don't even *like* donuts and as a rule I don't eat them, but these donuts are amazing. Addictive, even. Thank you for redefining the donut. read more

Best donut place I've ever been to! The donuts are NOT dry, they have jelly glazed ( my favorite), and the service is always consistently the same-amazing. Plus, they are not a bad price! read more

My God these Donuts are incredible. I didn't even like donuts and then after I lived in Boston for a while I decided I needed to try a Boston cream donut. We went here because it was local. I am addicted. I had never had a fresh donut before. Our guests come from out of town several hours just to go to this donut place. One weekend, we went to five or six donut places in Boston and did a blind taste test of which donut was the best. This donut place won hands down. They are very down-to-earth and don't really compete in big donut competitions but if they did they would win. Other donut places are lucky that this place just does their job well and doesn't compete. The atmosphere in this place is very family-like, the owner is always there and the staff are very happy and friendly. A must try before you leave Boston. read more

Super yummy donuts! This great business donated donuts to the MS Walk in Cohasset. I live on the south shore but they certainly would be worth a drive north to have them again! read more

LOVE this place. It's always a must when I'm on my way to work. It's annoying that Medford implemented parking meters when I just want to stop in to grab a quick coffee/donut, but parking is still pretty easy. The honey twists are definitely my favorite donut. I'm not sure why there are any reviews complaining about the service. I've been coming here for years and I know that the girls behind the counter are extremely sweet and friendly people, even as old employees leave and new ones come in. I've even seen them go out of their way to make a donut for someone if it's not already out front. I've worked in the food industry myself, and I must say that if you feel like you're receiving bad service, it's probably because you're a bad customer (yes, it is possible). read more

probably the best donuts ever. they seem to make small batches so donuts are always fresh and often still warm. everything is fantastic, especially the coffee roll! read more

I traveled from the suburbs to try some donuts before work after hearing about this place on Best of Boston. I'm a big foodie and was really looking forward to it. They open at 6:00, I got there at 6:45 and was told donuts wouldn't be ready for another 15 minutes. What kind of donut shop doesn't have donuts ready yet at 6:45 on a workday? I don't really understand why you would open at 6:00 if you don't plan on having donuts until 7:00. Was really looking forward to trying this place given the lack of anything other than Dunkin in the area, but looks like I never will try them. read more
