This review is probably the weirdest one I'll ever write but my first impression of this place is pretty terrible. I got a call this afternoon while I was at work from a "no caller ID" number. Someone who sounded like a boy, probably around the age of 8 or 9, shouts "We know you've been stealing donuts from Donuts Plus! You have to stop or we're gonna find you and you're gonna get fat!" He then proceeded to tell me his manager told him to say that.
Of course my first thought is that it was a wrong number, because 1) I have never heard of Donuts Plus, much less been there, 2) I've lived in New York City for the last three years, and 3) I haven't been to Dallas in two years. I do have a Dallas # which belonged to a male before me, but the boy kept calling me ma'am which made believe they weren't trying to contact him.
So anyway, I was curious so I started asking him questions.
"Who are you trying to reach?"
"You!" Screams the boy.
"What's the name of the person you're trying to reach?"
"I don't know." I hear him shuffling through some papers, then hear him scream "MARK! MARK! WHAT'S HER NAME? I CAN'T FIND IT! DO YOU HAVE IT??" I hear someone in the background say no, and the boy says "My manager can't find your name, but we wanted to tell you to STOP STEALING DONUTS OR WE'LL CALL THE COPS NEXT TIME!!" And then he hung up. This is almost verbatim I swear.
Needless to say, this was an incredibly strange interaction. I hope this was a prank call from someone who was in no way related to this place; if this is the case, please contact me and I'll delete this review. However, if that call really did come from Donuts Plus, I'm concerned about their customer service and PR in general, not to mention child labor practices. Also, how the hell did they get my number?? Even if their donuts were the best ever, this was the most ridiculous/rude interaction I've ever had with a food service establishment. Yes I laughed and shared this story with coworkers, but if I were a real potential customer (and I was fat) I'd be livid. read more
