The staff is quick and efficient. The interior is brand new, and smells of heavenly yeast, and vanilla..... has anyone created that scent in a bottle before?! The donut holes are tiny poppable pillows of sweetness. The Bearclaw is soft, and filled with cinnamon and apples. The regular yeast donut is always fresh, and pillowy. The old fashioned donut is one of my favorites! I do wish for a harder fry on it, that comes down to personal preference though. The jalapeno kolaches, homemade biscuit sandwiches, and croissants are another reason this place is thriving! Never leave, Donut Palace, never leave. read more

These are old-fashioned donuts that have an outstanding base dough. They are what donuts should be and unfortunately not what you find at most donut shops anymore. The chocolate old-fashioned does not have the cleanest spread of chocolate, but it absolutely does not matter. The cherry fritter is fluffy and crisp on the outside, with gooey areas within it that encompass cherries. read more

Ok, I went to TOWN here today. I haven't written a review in a minute, but this new donut spot needs to be seen. My mom had heard about it and decided this was our excuse to get out of the house today during this time of quarantine and let me tell you, this will continue to be my excuse to leave the house for decades to come. I'm a little embarrassed to admit how many donuts I've had today but what's eaten in quarantine doesn't count. What a time to be alive. We ordered 4 different kinds of donuts and a kolache. The drive thru was speedy and efficient. Their menu is posted right under the order window but we found it on Facebook first so we had an idea about what we wanted once it was our turn. We went at 10am and they said they were only out of bear claws, which was nice because so often if you visit a donut shop after 8am you're down to minimal options. The apple fritter was so delectable it was a life changing experience. The glaze was crisp, the dough was soft, the apples were sweet, the cinnamon was like a warm hug. Their more classic donuts are light, perfectly airy, and had the right about of frosting that you got the flavor but it wasn't over poweringly sugary. We ordered glaze, maple, and peanut (which has a chocolate frosting). The kolache was piping hot when they handed it to me but not so hot that it burnt my mouth when I couldn't wait a minute to bite into it. They have many more donut flavors, biscuits and gravy, croissant sandwiches, and biscuit sandwiches. Obviously I loved this place. I'm excited about it joining Smithville and see myself making many more out-of-my-way visits back here to try more of their menu and order a billion more apple fritters. read more

I visited here on a Thursday afternoon at 1:30 and had intended on just getting a couple of donuts. However, I ordered a dozen: 6 glazed, 2 apple fritters and 4 Bavarian cream. I judge a donut shop by their glazed donuts. If they can make a light and fluffy glazed donut with the right amount of glaze, then I'll keep coming back. These glazed donuts are some of the best I've tasted. They are a delicate yeasted donut, proofed perfectly and with enough glaze to sweeten and not heavily coat. The Bavarian cream didn't skimp on the filling. The apple fritters were for my husband and he said the balance of apples and cinnamon was good. Friday morning: Day old donuts usually have to be freshened in the microwave or they're dry. I had left these in the box and they were still fresh. Not quite as good as yesterday, but still darn good. Sometimes, day old donuts will leave a grease slick in your mouth, these didn't. Kudos to the donut maker! Update: Monday, 4 days later. I stopped again and bought their sour cream old fashioned donut and Bavarian iced with chocolate, also delicious. So far, they're 5 for 5 on the varieties we've tried! read more

Gone there a couple of times wanting to try a breakfast sandwich but they haven't had eggs. I understand being new and there is a shortage of food during the pandemic but they don't have an intercom to place your order, you do that when you get to the window.
