Still five stars. My mom's seventieth birthday was a week ago. I of course ordered a cake and desserts from Sugar Whipped. Sea salt chocolate chip cookies, gooey butter cake, iced pretzel rods were all on the menu along with some custom sesame stick "turtles" and of course the gorgeous cake. Everything was packaged securely for us to transport to the venue and plated up so nicely on our platters. The donut wall we rented from the bakery displayed the donuts so w

The selection is amazing at this little bake shop! The decor is kitschy ,Victorian ,and oh so cozy. The lavender donut is perfectly balanced and tender. The coffee is freshly brewed, and has the option of a flavored syrup. The danishes are buttery , crispy layered goodness. I will be back to linger, maybe with some tea and a good book.

The crust was so light, crispy, and flaky with wonderfully spiced apples in the middle and the right amount of glaze on top.

Along with Rayville Baking Company, the City Market in Kansas City has this place to be thankful…read more In fact, I think this place has a leg up on Rayville, because they not only make a lot of gluten-free baking goods (a feat in itself), but they use _locally_ grown organic wheat. Just crazy. And, the best part is --it tastes amazing. They have all sorts of whole wheat, multi-grain, and one of the most popular (it sells out the fastest, I hear) is the asiago cheese. Of course, I have a weakness for the cinnamon rolls, and their pecan honey roll is pretty amazing. I can also attest to the gluten-free muffins: somehow they avoid using gluten but the muffin is very fluffy and rich. They also sells eggs from their chickens and other baked goods, like pizza crusts and granolas. You can order their food from their website, or on Saturday mornings go to the downtown Kansas City farmer's market, or the Brookside farmer's market, or the one in Minor Park (Holmes and E. Red Bridge Rd.). They also have a web site just for gluten-free stuff: http://www.gflife.com

But the real reason I'm posting this review: Did you know they have vegan baked goods? They do. If you need a tasty, locally-baked vegan treat while you're loading up on produce and other goodies at the market, be sure to stop by and check out their offerings.
