Originally created our wedding thank-you cards through Don's at 410 Main Street via their online template.
The photos came out bleached looking and extremely yellow.They told me that they could fix it and make all the plants and grass look green despite blaming the issue on my file and my monitor not being colour calibrated. I informed them that I had viewed the image on 4 separate computers and the file was clear and the colours bright. I finally had to have them pull up the image on their computer which did not look at all like the cards they printed.
They were so adamant that they could fix it, that I paid for the cards and also gave them my wedding photos to print.
I came back a few hours later to pick up the product. The leaves in the photo on the card were now green....but so was the gold border, the gold colored text and the faces of my wife and I. I told them that I found this unacceptable but that I would run it past my wife. Again, they blamed the poor quality images on my file. I also picked up and paid for my wedding photos at the same time.
I got home and went through the wedding photos. Everything was very dark and green looking, including all the faces of the guests.
My wife vetoed the thank you cards and felt the same way I did about the photos.
I decided to go by one of their competitors (Blacks) later the same night and print of a few of the same files via their one hour photo option.The difference was as night and day. Vivid, bright, good contrast, perfect. I understand that Blacks uses a vivid print (contrast levels are a little tweaked) but they were exactly what we wanted. And we were no longer green!
I returned to Don's the next day and showed them their prints compared with those from Blacks of the exact same files. Even they had to admit that something was wrong with their system as the back of the Blacks prints showed no colour or saturation corrections on their part (the letters and numbers on the backs of photos denote this).
I asked for and received a full refund for the photos and the thank you cards.
I returned to Blacks and placed the identical order for the wedding photos which came out perfect. The thank you cards we got printed at Photo Central due to not liking the templates Blacks had, which also came out perfect.
Oh, the kicker?
Photos at Don's (not including thank-you cards) came to $155.11.
Identical number of prints and sizes at Blacks came to $101.62.
The only reason that I gave Don's even one star was due to the ease in getting a full refund, though I didn't enjoy making the multiple trips because they couldn't admit there was a problem with their system and the attitude of the guy doing the printing was extremely uncaring and bordering on disrespectful. read more
