Sometimes I like Don's and sometimes I don't. They have a great selection of guns--no debate. They are also tremendously overpriced--in both firearms, ammunition, and in their range prices. I have a lot more reservation about the clientele of the store than the management. I have purchased three guns from Don (and his associates), and I thought they seemed to go the extra mile to make sure I wasn't a felon or a mental health case. Besides the government forms you have to fill out in order to purchase a gun, they also have their own form with extra questions. The staff at Don's is hit-or-miss. I went there a couple of times in the past and it was a pit hole. Prices are high and the staff are very rude. I have no clue how they are still in business. OH YEAH, they sell to anyone. They have a bad rep in every state surrounding Indiana. They honestly should shut this place down. After looking at all their guns I chose a Brand New In Box 2006 .45 ACP Para X LDA. I also asked the sales men if the had any ammo for the gun he said yes and put a 20 count box on counter, seeing it was only 20 count I asked for a second box thankfully he had one left. So after spending over $1600 for the pistol and ammo, We get home and my husband noticed the ammo was 45 auto + P which is not compatable in this 45 acp PARA X the gun we perchased. OBVIOUSLY THIS "gun salesmen" IS CLUELESS or DONT CARE HOW exsplosive and deadly this whole purchase could have become with ANOTHER irresponsible person like himself. Go here only if you have to. I mean, the place is very easy to get to and they have a wide variety of firearms as well as bulk ammo. There is no arguing this. Just come prepared to spend more here than you would at another store. Their guns are overpriced as well as the ammo. Range? Lawd! Expensive. You can bring in your "big guns" here. That's another plus. Overall, it's not a bad place. Husband and I have come here NUMEROUS uncountable amounts of times. If we weren't in the least bit thrilled, know, we wouldn't be coming. Was probably a really nice gun store a long time ago, but judging by the old gear and dust collecting on many of the firearms, at some point people there just quit caring. Employees looked up from their phones long enough to say "no" to my question. Prices are way too high, in some instances they are asking more than what the MSRP of the gun is. Horrible customer service, employees are super cocky and act like they don't even want you to touch the firearms they are selling. Prices are sky high more than any other gun shop 40 bucks for 50 rounds ?? No way lol. Even their mags are 2X the price of just getting them from the manufacturer or going to another gun shop, I am surprised they are still in business I guess they are depending on the clueless to purchase their high priced dust collected product. I went in and looked at the guns. I had just purchased a pistol at Gander Mountain for $499. The same one the next day at Don's was $200 more. The range ammo was 100% more expensive than any other range. I was the only person in the store except for the person behind the counter wearing his pants pulled up. The clientele, based on my admittedly short visit, appeared to be primarily the exact type of people I own guns to protect myself from. Granted, I only went once and definitely won't go back. I didn't try the range since I didn't feel comfortable around a bunch of gangster types with loaded weapons. read more

The previous posts are correct -- Their guns are over-priced and their staff is lacking in knowledge about the products they sell. After asking twice for a product they had on their shelves and told they did not have it, I found it, but over 50% of the going internet price. It speaks to me of a businessman seeking high profits versus the proponent of gun-bearing citizens which Don claims to be. I was looking for 380 ACP ammo and Don's guns had it, but they wanted $50 for a 50 round box of a low quality brand. I could not justify paying almost THREE times to average cost. I read these cry baby reviews and sonetime I think Don's Guns competitors are writing them. Don's Guns have the biggest inventory of any Gun Shop I have ever been in. It cost money to carry a large inventory. What good is cheap prices if you can't get the gun you want? Don's Guns has to make money, he can't carry a huge inventory and be the the cheapest in the state on his prices. He would be out of business. Don's Guns provide personlized service you don't get in many Guns Stores. I bought a hand gun 3/2/13 and was treated courtious and polite. The salesman was veryknowledgable about firearms and spent time showing me the advantages and disadvanages of various hand guns so I could select the righr gun for my purpose. After the sale the man showed me how to disassemble and reassemble the gun I just purchased.
