I recommended a friend to Dawn's garage doors based on commercials. They had a remote control that was no longer working. They were extremely satisfied with the service that they received when the technician came out and either assisted or replaced the garage door opener. read more

I responded to the $29 offer. Paid close to $1,000 instead. I was gullible; technician was a smooth talker. Post-appointment research showed that I paid Don's four times (4x) retail price for door springs. I've posted the invoice on my garage door as a reminder to be smarter next time. Given that Tommy Mello (Don's owner) advertises daily on prime time TV and given the implications of Yelp reviews, is there a business model that oversells & overcharges customers in order to fund extensive marketing to prospects? read more

new garage door opener purchase 4 years ago would not set up and lower limits they told me this within 15 minutes or less but stated that they had to charge me $169 so much for the $29 door tune up you can forget the $29 thing it's not happening. it did give me a military discount of $100 wow. and I think they gave me some other kind of discount but then they said we'll just take $100 deposit now and charge you $69 later when we come back to install the new one whether or not you need it or not we'll have to charge you another $69 for this call. I was like what ridiculous. so after they said that I asked them to do the normal door tune up and install two new rollers on the bottom and move the locking mechanism on the door which took about 1 minute. I won't be calling them again good luck to you. oh and you will not get an invoice about what they did and I'm not really sure what they did beside what I mentioned here nuts read more

Awful experience. First the tech said he could fix my garage door for $413. Then he comes back and says he will only be able to get the door to close and that it wont be functional. He said a new garage door would be anywhere from $4000- $40k. I called my homeowners insurance while he was still here and they told me that quote was way too high and that I need to shop around. I called another company and was quoted $1600-$2300 for a new door. I ended up telling the tech to leave but still had to pay $342 for him to basically close my garage door. So yeah this company is a scam. UPDATE Had another company come out and they were able to get the garage door working by replacing the belt and making some adjustments on the opener. The repairman said that the tech from Don's garage hooked the opener to the wrong hole on the door bracket which was causing it not to close automatically all the way. So yeah they were trying to rip me off for sure read more

I would not use this company for you garage door repairs or install. I had a "tune up" and the tech didn't do anything discernible, and told me everything was great, but when I asked for an email later of the inspection, 28 out of 29 items were listed as "needs attention." Worse: I asked for an estimate to replace the wood the frame is attached to and the tech said $173 and emailed me that estimate. They then refused to honor that estimate and said it would be $750. Pick another company. read more

Spring replacement on double garage door The quote was excessive. Three prices based on warranty $915 - $1,500 When we told him "no", he suddenly remembered he forgot to give us discount. Still said no, but guy refused to leave property until I spoke to manager. manager said price was $350. WTH? read more

Recently I facilitated the hiring of Don's to replace six garage door openers and six new garage doors. I only hired them because I learned they recently bought out a local mom and pop shop. I figured the named had changed but the same employees and quality customer service remained. Boy was I mistaken. Do yourself a favor and go with anyone else for your next repair needs. I don't even know where to begin. This was a large, expensive process that required multiple appointments to complete the required work. From the start it was apparent that the lack of communication and quality of service was a huge issue. The technicians carried around black iPads, yet failed to take good notes on their work and what was required for follow-up work. On two occasions the techs failed to arrive with common screws to attach the buttons to the interior wall to open said doors. Perhaps I'm over thinking this but I would say keeping extra commonly used items on the truck would be a good idea. Then they brought out two damaged garage doors and wanted me to give them permission to simply hang them anyway and come back later to do the warranty work. WRONG! The also left without installing the exterior keypads. Appointment number three was a no show. I received a call at 9am stating they had no installers that day. Appointment number four was a late arrival. After all the work was completed I spent 30 minutes cleaning up all the screws, nuts, bolts and washers they left laying around. To sum it up just don't. I'd give them a zero if possible. read more

The garage door took a hit and one of the wheels went off the track. Also the bottom panel was bent. Don's came out and the tech was at our house less than an hour. He banged the wheel back on track and the charge was $450. He was more interested in selling a new door than anything. read more

They did a tuned up for me and lubricated the bearings. After they left the door sounded worse than before. They came out and sprayed the hinges with WD40. Two days later the door made a lot of noise going up. Don's Garage came back out and replaced the 2 hinges they originally replaced. The door was still making noise. They told me I needed struts and a new spring. My spring was only 2 years old and I told him no. He said to contact Precision (who originally put springs in & state it needed the tension fixed). Don's Garage left and said sorry they couldn't fix it. Precision came out same day and reviewed the door and springs which were fine. Precision discovered Don's ruined the bearings when they lubricated them. Precision changed both bearings and the door made no noise. Be very careful using Don's Garage! read more

I missed a day of work, staying home having scheduled an appointment over a week ago and they let me know less than two hours before my appointment if they weren't gonna be able to make it. Companies that don't fulfill their obligation should not get good ratings.. even if they had shown up, I would've had to have been at the house for five hours for the window of their being here which waste my time. read more

We had 4 estimates. This was the only one that was weird, by far the longest, and cleary the most expensive. One guy came out to measure, and took about an hour. Then he dialed up the sales department and that guy. Price was almost double the next highest price, we didn't receive a written estimate, and my wife keeps getting. The measurer was extremely polite. Most modern-day salespeople are decent. This guy gave me the 90-s siding/windows sales vibe. read more

Joe Duppy (in metro Columbus, OH) service my garage doors (home and rental property) before I bought the homes, e.g., in 2009 and 2013 respectively. I absolutely trusted Joe and Kathy was delightful to work with. Don's Garage World bought the business this past year. Upcharge after upcharge doing work that was nice but not critical or urgent like replacing all of the rollers etc. There was nothing wrong with the doors and the rental had a new opener and door installed just last year and the current service person charge a couple grand to upgrade several items.... I will not use Don's Garage World ever ever again. read more

Our garage door was not coming down much of the time. the repair man from Dons Garage Door immediately told me I needed new springs and rollers (this is an 3 year old house), seriously! He gave me an estimate of about $1400 to fix. No way, again the house is 3 years old! I did have the repair man tune up the system. I just recently had someone else come out because the door was still not coming down and the problem was a wiring problem..... a loose sensor wire. An easy cheap fix! I don't normally write reviews, but don't appreciate being taken advantage of. Steer clear of Dons Garage Doors. read more

Chad did a great job! He came on a Sunday, explained what was wrong and the cost. Completed work same day. Thank you!

great service and have used them now 3-4 times highly recommend this company. i guess duppy sold out to don's and so far i have -0- complaints. read more

I wanted to give my business to Don's as I had used Duppy's before, was very pleased, and Don's bought Duppy's. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I had a broken spring and when I called I had to wait 2 days for a service call. I will say that I did not have a car stuck in the garage as the spring broke when I was leaving and they did ask if I was stuck. I received a call to let me know I was next and the tech called when he was on his way. All of those were appreciated. Once he arrived, is where it got confusing and I truly felt that I was being taken advantage of. He explained that it wasn't just a simple spring replacement because of what was originally installed on the door. Then he started talking about 5 year springs vs. lifetime. It really felt like he was throwing alot of information at me with a cost of $2,000 for just the 5 year spring. When I explained I couldn't pay that, he said he would go talk to marketing in his van. He asked for what I was willing to pay, which of course I wasn't going to share. He came back with about a $300 reduction. When I asked how long the quote was good for, he basically said the price changes every day, that the company gives him new prices every 24 hours. Whether or not that is the case is very concerning. Either way, that doesn't feel right. As soon as he left, I called another company who came out within 2 hours, provided a much better price with a better service warranty. Between the ridiculously high estimate and concerns about integrity of how I was approached, I will not be reaching out again. read more

I put my garage door down and something snapped. Turned out the arm had broken away from the door. I called duppy who i have used a few times before, now they are dons, tasha was friendly and scheduled the appt. I had ryan and henry, very friendly, professional explained how he could fix it and how much it would cost, explained other options, things that might need repaired in the future, i would welcome these 2 back anytime if i have another problem. Thank you Dons Garage Doors read more

Duppy did a great job with my garage door replacement. I contacted them when my old door broke and they worked me into their schedule quickly, minimizing the time I was without use of the door. The cost of the replacement including labor was reasonable. My old door had some issue lining up to the frame of the garage. Duppy added a trim piece which will help the door line up better, looking good and becoming more energy efficient. They didn't charge more for this extra touch. The door looks great, is so much quieter than my old door, and I'm looking forward to the energy I'll save this winter with the insulated door and trim. Thanks Duppy! read more

Duppy door has proven to be the most reliable garage door service around. We have used their service for both our home and our investment properties. They are very efficient and fast. Thanks Duppy door! read more

Showed up at expected time. Quickly identified the problem with my door, gave me anticipated estimate of the cost to repair the door and, with my approval, proceeded to fix the issue. Upon completion, he noticed a minor issue involving my other garage door and offered to fix it at a minimal charge and without the need of another service call. Technician was very courteous and respectful of need for social distancing. I will call again for all of my garage door needs. read more

We've used them in the past and been pleased but now they charge a $125 service charge just to come out and was first hour fee. Guy worked so slowly and screwed around and did things to our other door that didn't need done just to rack up time. In addition to parts he went over by 14 more mins and charged $31.25 ! They lost our future business that's for sure. read more

Excellent work by Duppy. Office staff understood my garage door issue upon my calling and they scheduled me promptly. John was honest with me about what needed replaced and it was less than expected (despite me thinking the entire unit needed to be replaced.) Prices are competitive/ reasonable. Highly recommend! read more

I've used Duppys in the past and was happy. Today that changed. Three taps on the door and it fixed. I wouldn't have charged a returning customer for that. I'd rather give them a handshake hoping to keep their business for next time when there was an actual true cost. read more

The spring on my garage door broke while I was closing the door after coming home after work. It was after their work hours but I got a call back within an hour. After I explained that I needed to be at work in the morning, they re-worked the schedule so Joe could come out first thing. He got the door open and I was able to head out to work while he stayed and replaced the springs. They are very friendly, pricing was very reasonable and I really appreciate the excellent customer service! Will definitely continue to use them in the future. read more

Joe & team at Duppy's Door Service are GREAT! We highly recommend this reputable local company. We've needed garage door repairs on 3 separate occasions since moving into our new home in New Albany. Each time they've quickly been able to fix the issue, and provided great customer service while doing so from start to finish. Hope to not have anymore future issues, but at least we can rely on Duppy's if needed. Thanks!!! read more

The chain drive sprocket's output shaft sheared on our garage door opener, called them for a service call, the lady on the phone quoted me $150 for a $30 sprocket assembly. We won't be calling back. read more

I can't in good conscience let people continue to patron this establishment given the way the owner treats all of his employees, the things I have seen and heard (and I am not a disgruntled employee) make me feel horrible for those poor people. Given there are so many door companies in the area I choose to give my business to someone that treats their staff with kindness and respect. read more

I wish they did more than garage doors I would hire them for everything. Had them fix two doors under our home warranty. They were out fast, and extremely friendly. The thing that really made them stand out for me, though, was that I called to find out what time they would be there and found out I was next. I told the scheduler my daughter was napping and they actually moved the schedule around to accommodate. I cannot imaging any other contractor or service provider doing this. Will happily use them again, read more

Super fast service! We had a spring on our garage door break, so I called and left a message to schedule a service call that evening. I received a call first thing in the morning to schedule the repair the same day. John came and replaced the spring with a stronger version, and was done with all of the work in less than an hour. Highly recommended! read more

Duppy's was polite and prompt, offered a great product. Very knowledgable and customer service oriented. Purchased top-of-the-line garage door opener with multiple remotes, battery back up and wifi. A power outage knocked out our unit and they worked us into their schedule the next day to installation a replacement. We're very happy with the install. Greatly appreciated in a time when great customer service is hard to find. read more

The guy (Gary or Garret) who showed up had no clue what he was doing. He suggested to replace the circuit but that was not the problem. He tried the capacitor and that did not solve the problem. He finally said that the unit or the motor need to be replaced. On top of that he charged me $80 for the service without knowing what he is doing. read more
