They never take a phone call only text. I requested they come see the house the morning we were checking out but they never answered that request.

A day after we left, we realized that we left something behind. I messaged Chris, and the professionalism of how he addressed this situation was phenomenal! There should be a good faith effort to make things fair for all renters. The unfairness of what happened to us was very disappointing -- renter beware. The timeline is as follows: the reservation was booked on January 31 and my son cancelled on February 21 -- not March 12 as stated. The stay is still several months away. We contacted Airbnb and they are currently reaching out to the host to review the situation. Unfortunately, my son was also blocked from contacting the host after the cancellation, which made it difficult to discuss any possible solutions directly. Our intention in leaving a review was simply to share our experience so others are aware of the cancellation policy before booking. The host also claimed that I threatened to write a review, which is not true -- I only wanted to let people know about the unfairness of this business practice.

Be warned though, that the staff at the pool/hot tub area are extremely strict to the point of being rude. As you walk in they approach you & want your unit info right away (which I have no problem with). I took my kids in the hot tub & the lady working in the pool area quickly told me the kids only have 10 min every hour then they need to get out. We said,'ok.' My kids asked me if they can use their 10 minutes in 2 separate 5 min sessions. I told them they could. When we went back into the hot tub (what would have been their 6th minute) the pool lady told me in a harsh voice they needed to get out right away. I explained to her they hadn't used their full 10 min yet and her reply in a mean voice was,"I am going to be timing them!" It scared my kids & left a very bad taste in our mouth. Different people have warned me about the pool staff at Forest Pines but experiencing it first hand was very upsetting.

We had contacted them ahead of time about a late check-in, and when we arrived, they had already made our keys and left them under the mat for us, which was convenient. They were extremely nice and friendly! Our room was all the way at the bottom of a rickety little boardwalk and down some old, shaky stairs. Which is okay, but made me wonder how the rooms were as clearly there had been no maintenance done on the outside of this lodge... As we walked down, we noticed that pretty much everyone had their windows open, and we could see directly into their rooms with people lying on their beds. Once we got into our room, we understood why...it was around 100 degrees inside! There was no air conditioning, just two fans running at full speed with the window open, and it was still unbearably hot. We could barely tolerate it. The carpet throughout the room was extremely sticky, to the point that I wouldn't even take my shoes off. The shower in the morning also wasn't very clean and was generally pretty gross...wore my flip flops in... I think this place could actually be decent with a few improvements. Replacing the old, sticky carpet with hardwood or another easy-to-clean flooring, giving the rooms a thorough cleaning, and adding air conditioning or even a mini-split...would make a huge difference. Unfortunately, as it is now, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The whole weekend we were there, it was 84 degrees and it takes forever for the condo to cool back down at night, so we had to use a VERY LOUD fan that was provided in the closet. According to front desk, it is a winter destination so not all have AC. But I asked if the ones with AC is more expensive, she said it's all the same price. So I guess we just got discriminated and placed in one that had no AC. 2. The fan was very dusty and dirty and we had to put it together as it wasn't readily operational. The bedroom was very small so the air was very dry with the fan blowing right at us we never got to sleep more than 4 hours. Every night. Couldn't leave windows open because the neighboring room's patio is very reachable so anyone can just jump over to the next unit. 3.The bed is hard. The pillows are flat! This is the worst bed set I have encountered. The pillows are of no use. 4. The bathroom sink faucet is broken. Everything that could go wrong in this place. 5. The WIFI NEVER WORKED. They gave us a password for the WIFI, tried in all different devices, in different days, called them and said it should work but never did. And we never got to finish important work on the computer All in all, for convenience of walking distance to restaurants and shops, this place is good. But if you came here to relax and be able to rest and sleep after a long day of activities, you won't be able to as it is not comfortable. Unfortunately never staying here again.

I lived in about 4 different houses up there and definitely dealt with some shady slum lord types, so it was very refreshing to rent from a kind, professional group like Hauserman. I visit Tahoe often since i moved back to southern CA and Hauserman are the first rental group i look to when i am booking a place. I also appreciate their emails notifying me of deals. Their staff is kind and helpful and i have had nothing but good experiences with the locations i have rented. I hate to see the negative feedback on some of the other reviews, but as a former Tahoe local, i am not surprised by some of the complaints and exaggerated comments. Tahoe has an economy that relies heavily on tourism and most people are very respectful of the locals, the housing, and the environment, but sadly there are always a few that are not. As renters and visitors to such a beautiful and fragile place, it saddens me to see people letting their dogs poop on people's carpets or complain about rules and cleaning fees (which i know are clearly stated from my experience with Hauserman). These are often the people who do the same outside in the forest and at the lake and lack respect for surrounding people and areas just because they happen to be on vacation. As a child, we rented out our vacation home in Tahoe City and I remember guests damaging things like board games or decor (and luckily not anything more severe like doors or carpet). Guests need to remember that they although they are paying for an experience, they are staying in people's homes and in one of the most beautiful environments on earth and hopefully they can be respectful of that.

Be aware: your rental can be canceled even if you have signed the rental agreement and paid the…read moreinitial deposit. Here are the facts of what happened to me when I tried to rent a house from Hauserman: ⁃I found a rental property that was suitable for my group, filled out the booking form, signed the rental agreement, and paid the initial payment. ⁃Weeks later, I got an email that said my rental had been canceled, with no indication as to why. ⁃I had to call them and ask what happened. They stated that the owner had decided they wanted to stay there that weekend, so they simply canceled my stay, despite the signed rental agreement. ⁃They were unhelpful in finding an alternative location, offering only another one of their properties that had less bedrooms and a worse location. ⁃I tried to work with them and asked to be transferred to other properties in their portfolio that were suitable for our group and more equivalent to our original rental, but they refused to allow us to transfer to one of those unless I paid the difference, despite Hauserman being the one that canceled our original rental. Just be aware that Hauserman can and will cancel your rental at any point and then basically tell you to pound sand.
