We booked the snowbird cabin in NorthStar for my birthday weekend. let me start off my saying, it was a great experience. I was surprised to find this cabin available due to January is a hot week in Lake Tahoe. Tahoe Getaway and their members were all great, and took their time to respond back to me within minutes. Great team to book with!! The Cabin. 1.very clean inside. Freshly remodeled. 2. All the rooms had fresh bedding and soft pillows. (Every time I travel I bring my own pillow since some places have either too stiff or too soft pillows) But this cabin had two sets of pillows on each bed!! 3. Bathrooms had a big bottle of hand soap, shampoo, body wash and conditioner. And apart from that. The tile floors were HEATED !! 4. Setting. The cabin was very cozy and a free shuttle ride to the NorthStar village that's 5min away, with many food options. The ice rink, snow live music. It was an amazing time. Large common area and outside deck with a sparkling clean hot tub and gas BBQ. Two garage with ample room for 2 REGULAR sized SUV's and 2 parking spaces on driveway. We have stayed at the Woodside by Tahoe Getaways property three or four times now and the service is always excellent. We have an annual long weekend get together for three families, sometimes a dog, and always laughter and fun. There's an excellent hiking trail just a block away and Homewood is around the corner. This latest stay was five star, as usual. There was no early check-in or late checkout, but they texted us the code to the lock box an hour and a half before check-in time which was an amazing help in putting away groceries and getting ready for the weekend. I don't wanna hype up the house too much and have our yearly streak booked by someone else, lol, so we'll just say Tahoe Getaways has been great. We booked through VRBO, which was equally as smooth and experience. I will echo a comment from below about Airbnb. If the owner cancels make them cancel through the app. (We had an owner try to squeeze when they cancelled.) Fully stocked kitchen utensils and equipment, a huge fireplace and bunk beds for the kids. Our group had such a wonderful experience staying here! From the moment we walked in, the house was spotless and felt very well cared for. The cleanliness really stood out, and it made settling in so easy. The views were absolutely incredible, especially through the stunning floor-to-ceiling windows--whether you were inside looking out or sitting outside enjoying the fresh air, it truly felt like a serene and special getaway. Another thing we loved was how peaceful and private it felt; you couldn't hear anyone in the houses nearby, which made it even more relaxing. The only challenges we noticed were that the house doesn't cool down very easily on warmer days, and the king bed in the master bedroom was quite firm and not the most comfortable for sleeping. That said, those were minor compared to how enjoyable the rest of the stay was. Overall, our whole group was very impressed and we left feeling grateful for such a beautiful, serene, and well-kept place to stay. The reservation agents were very helpful in helping us find the best house for our group. The house we stayed in was very clean and well stocked. The hot tub was in great shape. There were upstairs and downstairs thermostats. The location was good. We rent a house in the Tahoe area every year for this group of friends. This was the best house we have stayed in and the best property management company. The only issue is that the total number of occupants allowed is 24/7, not just overnight (like the city ordinance states). We have friends who have their own house in Tahoe. Usually their family joins us for dinner one evening, but that would have put us over the max. I understand that some people try to have big parties but it seems like we should be able to have an additional family join us for dinner in a house we are renting. read more

We really hate to have these experiences with home rentals, but this property was in the same state of disrepair as when we rented it 2 years prior. Windows not opening, barbecue in near total disrepair, hall lights dead, fireplace wasn't working correctly, holes in sheets and towels, ROKU TV not able to synch with ours, deck cushions torn, kitchen equipment barely stocked for a long term stay. Dim lighting, dirty fixtures. Horrific construction noise from 7am - 7pm EVERY day except Sunday. for 10 days. We wanted to warn off other guests...maybe it was a bad week for them, but you should check? We called agents several times and they were not able to rectify our issues and had a very poor attitude. Nor would they let us check out early and refund our money or apply it to a rental next year, etc They work for the property owner - not the renter. The Property owner doesn't have an ounce of pride in their property. Give them and this property a wide berth...sorry guys but you can do way better...we know you can... read more

Horrible Experience -- Zero Compassion or Accountability from Tahoe Getaways I booked a house in Tahoe through VRBO, managed by Tahoe Getaways, for Thursday 12/25 through Sunday 12/28. Leading up to our trip, I noticed a huge storm was forecasted, so I reached out to Tahoe Getaways on Tuesday 12/23 to express concern and ask about canceling. They completely minimized the situation, assuring us it would be "no problem" to get there even though the property was inaccessible due to the weather! What they didn't mention was their so-called "worry free guarantee" that would've allowed us to cancel before 4pm on 12/24. Unfortunately, the storm hit hard on the evening of 12/23 and lasted far longer than anticipated. The storm warning and travel ban, which were originally scheduled until 4pm on 12/25, were extended until 10pm on 12/26 due to extremely dangerous conditions. Despite having 4WD vehicles with snow tires, we attempted to drive to Tahoe twice (12/25 and 12/26), only to be turned around both times by police because I‑80 was closed due to spinouts and unsafe conditions. We were traveling as a family (including a grandmother and babies) and it was simply not safe to sit in a car for hours waiting for the roads to reopen. We stayed in close communication via text with Tahoe Getaways and made them aware of our situation and the road closures. When we again couldn't make it through on 12/26, we asked for a partial refund or the option to rebook for another stay. The response we received was shockingly unprofessional and cruel. The Tahoe Getaways staff were rude, dismissive, and seemed to take pleasure in our frustration. They literally laughed at our concerns about safety, flaunted their policy, and told us we had missed the cancellation window by only a few hours. In the end, they kept our $5,000, only refunding the cleaning fee, showing zero concern for our safety or the reality that we were physically prevented from reaching the property due to road closures. Their lack of empathy and arrogance were beyond comprehension. Tahoe Getaways should be ashamed of how they treat customers. They do not care about guest safety, and they certainly don't stand behind the spirit of their own policies. Save yourself the heartbreak and money and never book through Tahoe Getaways on VRBO. If something goes wrong, you're on your own. read more
