Good god man! Where do I get started with Chris?! I booked a Lake Tahoe family vacation at his Truckee property. Before checking in, I sent him multiple messages, and he was always quick to respond. The home was more beautiful than advertised. The part that stands out about Chris is how clear and easy everything was. From check in to check out, every time my family asked me a question, I didn't have to message him or call him, I just looked in the binder that he left for us or I just checked my booking and all answers were there! A day after we left, we realized that we left something behind. I messaged Chris, and the professionalism of how he addressed this situation was phenomenal! My exact words after my experience with TAP were "I don't know how to give more than a 5 star review!" If you're staying anywhere near Lake Tahoe, look up Tahoe Alpenglow properties, you can thank me later. read more

Just to clarify, everything stated here is true and accurate. It is not defaming to share a factual account of events. It is also not morally right to take one person's money and then take another person's money on top of that. Sometimes fairness has to take precedence over policy. There should be a good faith effort to make things fair for all renters. The unfairness of what happened to us was very disappointing -- renter beware. The timeline is as follows: the reservation was booked on January 31 and my son cancelled on February 21 -- not March 12 as stated. The stay is still several months away. We contacted Airbnb and they are currently reaching out to the host to review the situation. Unfortunately, my son was also blocked from contacting the host after the cancellation, which made it difficult to discuss any possible solutions directly. Our intention in leaving a review was simply to share our experience so others are aware of the cancellation policy before booking. The host also claimed that I threatened to write a review, which is not true -- I only wanted to let people know about the unfairness of this business practice. read more

We have had Tahoe Alpenglow as our property manager for several years. The team has always been diligent and often goes above and beyond the call of duty. Managing properties, particularly in Truckee, creates unique challenges and the team has been adaptable to meet those challenges. Simply, we would not have made it through covid managing the property without Chris and his team. This review is a warning to property owners looking for a property manager. We used Alpenglow Properties to manage our Truckee cabin and I am giving a poor rating because of two issues. 1. During the California fires, evacuation was required. Chris refused to cancel a guest so we could evacuate to OUR cabin. He also did not offer ANY assistance in finding another place to stay. 2. He was not proactive in monitoring the property for issues and identifying and repairing a leak. This resulted in damage to the property that cost us $9000. I recommend looking elsewhere for your property management needs. read more

Loved the house we stayed at! Check in was seamless, the location was great (close to restaurants, emergency room/hospital, and a market), and the house itself offered super considerate amenities including one of the most well equipped kitchens I've ever seen at an Airbnb. My group was for 9 people with 4 couples. I had a lot of trouble trying to find exactly the right type of bed situation to accommodate us, but this place was perfect! Details about the house: The two separate queen rooms are on ground level. The ground level included a a half bath and a full bath that was attached to one of the rooms and the game room. The second level includes the master and the bunk room as well as the common space and kitchen. The master has a full onsuite and a half bath just outside. The main entrance goes straight to the second floor instead of the ground floor. The back entrance goes to the ground floor. The third level only contains the loft with another queen bed. It's also not walled off, so if people talk on the second level, it can be disturbing for people who are trying to sleep in the loft. Overall, would highly recommend! read more

We're a group of friends that were looking for a weekend in the snow without crowds and this place was perfect! Several people in our group had limited or no experience in the snow so it was great to give them an opportunity to play around in the snow like kids, without feeling self-conscious about doing so as adults. The cabin was an ideal base for our weekend: easy to get to off of 80 with regular snow removal on the roads, clear instructions on how to check in/out, a well stocked kitchen with all of the utensils we needed to prepare the food we brought, and a spacious common area so we could all hang out together comfortably. The fireplace unfortunately was labeled "please do not use" during our stay but it wasn't a necessary part of the heating and really would've only been for the aesthetic. Anyone planning on staying here during the winter should be advised that the upstairs bedroom stays colder than the rest of the house due to the way the heating system works, but those of us who stayed in that room (including myself) and the loft above it were comfortable sleeping there anyway thanks to the warm bedding provided. The host included additional heaters in the bedrooms but we didn't feel the need to use them and I only mention it in case anyone sensitive to cold is considering staying here (in which case, choose the downstairs bedroom. Nice and toasty!) The driveway comfortably fit two cars, a sedan and a crossover, and I imagine when it isn't surrounded by 10 foot walls of snow it could probably fit larger vehicles just fine but I was glad we didn't have a big truck in our group. It was a little difficult to find the driveway at first but only because of the snow pack. The exterior pictures of the cabin provided in the listing were a big help in making sure we were in the right place! I really appreciated the detailed instructions, especially when it came to how to use some of the appliances and what to do when checking out. This was my first-ever experience staying at an AirBnB and it was excellent! read more

This A-Frame was modern and stunning inside. The beds were super comfy. The house was quiet and situated right on the National Forest. The decor was stunning. There were plenty of games and we completed two puzzles because one evening and morning we chose to stay in the warm and cozy home and look out the window at the surrounding beauty. They had a stocked pantry and everything you could need for comfort and luxury cabin living. They also provided a plethora of activities and restaurant suggestions in the home guide book. There were plenty of hikes and swimming holes right outside the home. We definitely would stay here again and we highly recommend! They respond quickly and clearly take care of the space. read more

The house we stayed in was located on Northstar resort property. It was spacious, comfy, and conveniently located. Not only is it close to northstar, often times it is the first shuttle stop to drop off when you're leaving the village! The house is well kept and thoroughly cleaned between guests. I would recommend to all who are regular skiers and boarders of this resort. read more

Vikings Ullr was a wonderful place for our family vacation! We loved having a large area in the main level to hang out, as well as some space for alone time. And there was a spacious backyard area to play in the snow with our little guy. The house amenities were nice: comfortable beds and pillows, showers that got hot quickly and didn't run out of hot water, a full kitchen, cable/Netflix options, etc. We didn't use any of HOA amenities, but appreciated that a transferable guest pass was available to us. This apartment was perfect for our group of 7. Other than a slight hiccup with the bear bin, which Chris took care of immediately, we had an amazing time at this place. It had everything we needed for a great weekend skiing in Squaw and Alpine. The place was spotless upon arrival, and communication was stellar up until the end of our stay. Perfect location for skiing at Tahoe Donner. And use of the guest passes saved us some money to boot. We were really impressed with the quick response we got from Chris, even on a Saturday when the coffee maker wasn't working. We had a new one on our doorstep the same day. I'm writing this review on Yelp because VRBO won't post my review. They clearly are on the side of the property owners rather than the travelers. Here goes and sorry so long, but this is egregious...The owner, Chris Beck, is the most miserly, greedy, selfish individual I have ever run across. My family booked this place during the peak of the snow storm (booked for 12/26-12/31). All the freeways (I-80 & 50) up to Tahoe were closed due to hazardous weather conditions. Cal trans were working on the roads all day and all night to clear the snow. We made every attempt to drive up there using 50, but were redirected back. In an effort to salvage the trip and wait for the storm to pass, we stayed two nights in a Roseville hotel and then had to return home when Sierra travel remained hazardous. The news reported that "All non-essential travel should remain home and to not travel to Tahoe due to hazardous weather." They reiterated that the entire week we were booked for his property. We contacted the owner, Mr Christopher Beck, on several occasions (via emails and phone calls). He refused to refund us our money. Between the hotel stays and other expenses, we incurred substantial trip-related losses that week without spending a minute at the rental property. It was physically impossible to get to his property with all the road closures and just when I80 and 50 opened we were told not to travel due to hazardous conditions. We have 2 kids, 9 & 11. We weren't about to put their lives and risk, nor ours. Chris even told us that we should consider ourselves lucky because some of the guests were stuck and couldn't leave. Seriously??? At least they're using your facilities. If they can't leave, how can we even get there. We never got the opportunity to use the property. We went with another family and their property owner proactively issued their refund without them even requesting it. She said her cleaners and driveway shoveler couldn't get to their home due to all the snow so how were they supposed to get to her property. She also added that it was the worst snow storm she's seen in over 20 years. Despite telling Chris all of this, he STILL refused to give us our refund. If you check the 1 star reviews, he refuses any refunds. Read all the negative reviews on both Yelp and VRBO. I'm sure there's some on Airbnb. Check that too! I've never met a more miserly, corrupt individual as Chris Beck. read more

The house we stayed in was perfect for our group, and TAP folks made the booking and access really easy.

We had a last minute change in plans due to weather and requested to stay at Chris' place less than 2 days prior to check in. Chris was amazing and jump on getting the place set up, he had towels and bath toiletries on each bed for each guest. Was a nice touch to walk into! The house has lots of hang out spots inside and out. The two decks over looks Truckee and he has turned one of the garages to a man cave which is great for late night entertainments. If only it wasn't snowing in May, we would have utilize the deck space more, great views and semi private from the neighbors. I personally enjoyed the large kitchen table. We were able to eat and play board games without sitting on top of each other. I would 100% come back and stay here again. Chris answered every message in less than 15 minutes. The house slept 8 adults comfortably and was a great location from both downtown Truckee & Tahoe. read more

BEWARE! I recommend staying far away from this company. Chris was beyond rude. First off, he approved and charged for two dogs in one of the very expensive cabins. He then shows up at the door (in the middle of my nephews family birthday party) complaining that we have two dogs. He also sent us a nasty email along with additional charges. It really put a damper on the whole mood of our trip. He failed to apologize for his error. He continued to be rude after illustrating what it did to our trip. My guess is that the owner did not even know he allowed dogs, because apparently the neighbor complained that we had dogs. I would not trust this guy. read more

We had a great time in the knotty pine. The house has everything we need for cooking and entertainment. It also has many ski and snowboarding resorts nearby. We also enjoyed the Truckee Rec center, nice gym with quality equipments, hot tubs and heated pools. Chris is a very nice host, he gave each of us a free coffee gift cards at the end of the trip. Bear Paw Pad is the perfect place to celebrate a birthday weekend. I rented this home for my girlfriend's birthday weekend. It was the perfect place for our friends, there was plenty of space and lots to do within the home. The basketball hoop, poker table, and other activities kept us busy and entertained. The home is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy meals and comfort. There was a small issue with the garbage disposal but the maintenance person was there within the hour to fix it. There was just enough snow to enjoy, and easy access to and from the property. Highly recommend for family and friends. Would definitely rent this home again. Chris Beck was a great property manager. We had a great stay at this property over the New Years Holiday. The location of the house was great with easy access to downtown Truckee as well as local ski resorts. There was plenty of space for our entire group and the downstairs room was a great space for the kids to hang out. Chris was a great host and super responsive to all of our inquiries. We had some weather issues and Chris was available throughout our original check-out date and helped facilitate us staying an additional night since we were unable to travel home due to closed roads. Our family and friends loved Vikings Ullr! Our kids spent lots of time in the game room loft and us adults loved the sauna on the back deck which had an amazing view! This home had everything we needed and the kitchen was perfect for cooking at the house. We had such a wonderful time. The cabin is beautiful, very clean and modern. We love playing with the pool table that was great to have available . This cabin has everything you need and want to have a great vacation my family and I can't wait to go back. Chris is one of the best property manager he is very pleasant, sweet and respectful. He is very quick to respond to phone calls and emails more than willing to help you with any questions or needs that came up. We made so many wonderful memories sadly it was a short weekend but we had a great time . Can't wait to go back. I have rented 5 homes from HomeAway but overall this is my favorite one and I know I'm going back sometime soon . What I also loved is that everything is so close by there's a Safeway, Starbucks about seven minutes away very convenient.
