This is an annual event with historical hikes showing the immigration from back east to California and what happened during the Donner Party hike. I went on the summit Canyon Hike. Our guide was great! He had a lot of great information about the forming of the Lincoln Highway, wagon trains, and other historical events. The hike was about three hours long, and then we went back to Donner Ski Ranch for a hamburger lunch and historical talks. the cost of the $60 which included lunch. I would highly recommend this and I will be going again.
On Sunday a historian takes you around where the Donners actually camped and talks about archaeological finds and how the Donners survived. Free coffee and donuts. read more
