I have been seeing Dr. Wallace as my primary care physician for about 10 years now and she is…read morefantastic. She is super empathic and understanding, has a gentle and calming bedside manner, encourages me to make good choices and gently reminds me when I've gotten off track. She's very knowledgeable and always takes the time to thoroughly answer my questions. I know she's very busy, but she never, ever makes me feel rushed. I know I'm getting extremely good care with her. However, she's so good that over the past few years, it's getting to be impossible to see her. I have to make an appointment 8 months in advance and if something comes up that's unavoidable (like a business event or family emergency) where I have no choice but to reschedule, I either have to see a different doctor in her office, or wait months and months to get in, which is sometimes just not possible. I also find I'm less likely to go to the doctor when medical situations arise (like right now, I'm having neck/shoulder/arm pain from a car accident a few weeks ago), because I know I won't be able to see my preferred doctor and will get assigned to some other random doctor, P.A., or nurse practitioner in Dr. Wallace's office, and to me, that's just so impersonal. For the past year, I've been considering finding another primary care physician for these reasons, but haven't done so yet, because I really respect and trust Dr. Wallace. (As an aside, when I get assigned to another random medical professional at her office, I now refuse to see her nurse practitioner, Maggie Varner. Ms. Varner is a knowledgeable medical professional, but she is nasty and mean. She has scolded and body-shamed me every time I've seen her. I saw her once to simply get a flu shot and got a lecture on my weight -- and this was only one month after having a medical procedure done to help me with that weight... she had no idea, and was making assumptions, and just didn't bother to do her homework -- not that there was any to be done, since I didn't see her about my weight, but rather to just get a flu shot. She did the exact same thing to me when I broke my thumb. I went in with a broken thumb and got body-shamed, chided, scolded, and generally made to feel really awful about my weight. A nurse at Boulder Medical Center said she's had the exact same experience with Maggie Varner. If you can't get an appointment with Dr. Wallace, go to anyone else, just don't go see Maggie Varner, who is a prime example of a medical professional with a truly despicable bedside manner. ) So if you can actually secure an appointment to see Dr. Wallace, do it; she's wonderful.
