I've been meaning to try this place or the original location, after reading about it. I found myself in the area at the perfect time. The woman at the counter was courteous and friendly. I ordered a cheesesteak w/ fried onions. It was prepared quickly, and was one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. There's a couple tables inside. Nothing fancy, but clean. I will return. If I lived closer I'd be a regular!

This visit was far and away a better experience than my last. We ordered food for pick up and were given a 15 minute pick up time from when we placed the order. We only live a few minutes away and I arrived right at the 15 minute mark. As I walked in they were bagging my order of a cheesesteak, a chicken cheesesteak, and small seasoned fries. There were also a handful of others waiting for food which is always a good sign to see. The employee working the counter and answering the phones was very pleasant and more than happy to answer questions about the menu. I appreciate how they have their plastic silverware and condiments out on the counter so you're able to take what you please. Their spicy pepper spread and spicy ketchup are both delicious and add great flavor to the steak sandwiches and fries. By the time I got home the food was still hot. There was plenty of meat on the sandwiches (both not the case the last time I was here but I'm blaming that on me accidentally ordering online through Grub-hub or Uber-eats for pick-up). I do prefer my cheesesteaks on a long roll but the rolls were great nonetheless. Very soft and I'm a big fan of the poppyseeds. The "small" cup of fries came overflowing with even more in the bottom of the bag. Both of us enjoyed our cheesesteaks and the crispy French fries. The total came to about $34 for two steak sandwiches and fries which seems about average in this day and age and was fair for the quality of food we received. I wouldn't say Donkey's cheesesteaks are my favorite cheesesteaks in the area of surrounding towns, but I am glad I can get a very darn good cheesesteak so conveniently close to home. I'll definitely be frequenting Donkey's more often after how positive this last visit was. It'll make for a great take-out option on nights I don't feel like making dinner.

Made it a point to stop here on our way home from the shore a few weeks ago. It was perfect! We both got cheesesteaks and shared a large side of onion rings. Everything was SO good!! Service was friendly and quick! There are a few tables inside and no one was there when we got there so that was nice. A bunch of people came in right after us and sat at the table behind me. Wasn't even loud with 6 or 7 people chatting away. This will be a must on our way home from the shore from now on!!

Donkey's cheesesteaks are truly unique. Poppy seed Kaiser roll and a hint of sweetness and a lot of savor. It's cold inside, but the freshly made food will warm you right up! You won't find anything like this too far from Philly!

We tried Donkeys in Medford the other day due to all of the recommendations from our friends lately and unfortunately we're not impressed. It took about 20 minutes for our cheesesteak to be made, which seemed excessive since no one was in line ordering ahead of us. The cheesesteak was extremely greasy and lacked flavor. I also thought it was overpriced at $15 for the cheesesteak. They do seem to use a higher quality of steak, so maybe that's why it is more expensive than other places. Unfortunately we have had much better cheesesteaks in the area for less.

Donkey's does have pretty stellar lead on the best Philly Cheesesteak. I'll give them at LEAST my top 3 slot but I'm not ready to call them the champs. Getting onions adds that combination sweet & savory taste that really is the icing on the top to pull it altogether. Inside the seating is limited so you get what you get or its a carside/pickup meal. I'd certainly come back. Crossing it off my bucketlist FINALLY.

Donkeys place (original) is located in Camden. It's been around a long time and has garnered a reputation thanks to the late Anthony Bourdain and the Philly-centric sitcom I've never seen called "the Goldbergs." The original location is one I've visited several times, I once even walked there after being in nearby Lourdes hospital. Walking in Camden? Gasp! Yes I survived both the hospital stay AND the walk down Haddon ave. The original location is loaded with charm. They wisely haven't polished away the patina developed over the years. Yes, they did have the Anthony Bourdain episode playing on a loop, and they do sell "merch." But that didn't stop the place from being a true community hub: local residents mingle with tourists and hospital employees. The place was hopping at lunch time. The bar? Cheap shots and beers. Lovers of cheesesteaks, history, local color and booze should pay the place a visit. So why did I just go ramble on about the Camden spot? Donkeys Too in Medford frankly fails to possess almost any of the above, aside from copious "merch" for sale. What else it does have? the cheesesteaks! They are remarkably similar to those found at the original. The Kaiser rolls are fresh and must be from the same bakery. The beef is placed on the roll in long cuts, it isn't chopped up like a typical cheesesteak. The roll holds up to the grease fairly well, but I don't recommend traveling too far before consuming. It comes wit wiz by default, I opted for provolone and found it to be superior. No frills inside, in fact all of the seating was put away and they're operating on a takeout-only basis for now. Service was decent particularly given it was all high school aged kids working there. Much respect to them. The food didn't take too long to come out and everything was made correctly. The steak is great and definitely different than the run of the mill. One sandwich will certainly provide satiety to any normal individual. We got fries for the hell of it with spicy ketchup, and it was indeed packing a kick! The fries weren't too soggy, they were surprisingly good and well seasoned. Onions always seem appropriate on a steak, get those too. I figure I'll likely get agita anyway so I might as well go all out. Be sure to bring some paper towels or wet naps. The tiny "pizzeria" style napkins provided by the shop simply do not adequately absorb the grease produced by the decadent mixture of cheese/cheese-like product (in the case of wiz) and steak (perhaps ribeye?). I did have to heed nature's call and was a bit horrified by what I saw in the restroom. Not any worse than a random no-name gas station but not encouraging for a place preparing food. Floor was wet, soap was in short supply. They did have paper towels at least. Also, the trash can outside was overflowing. That one could be on the landlord. Cards are accepted. Total for 2 steaks and an order of fries was $28. Certainly not cheap, but I've paid more at overrated chains like shake shack and gotten a lot less! Parking is adequate as private lot as the adjacent storefront in the small strip mall is vacant. Fridges had some different soft drinks including the usual Delaware valley staples like birch beer. They gave me a big paper cup at no charge to fill with water. No "water shaming" with the kiddie sized clear plastic cup like some places do it. I hate that! While this lacks the soul of the original Donkey's Place- Medford ain't Camden after all - the product you come here for is very good. I recommend stopping by if you're ever in the Medford/Marlton/western beginnings of the pine barrens area to see what the hype is about. Be ready to consume it in your vehicle. Pack napkins, your appetite and digestive aids of choice.

Steak (Philly cheesesteak) with onions - the steak is definitely better than the steak in other Philly cheesesteaks. The onions added nice flavor. It had just the right amount of provolone cheese. I loved how the bread had poppy seeds as it added a bit of texture. The bread was soft and fluffy. Fries - seasoned well! Overall, this is a great place for Philly cheesesteaks but definitely on the pricey side.

It's a pretty good family price is a little high. I don't know if it's good original Philly cheese stick, and chili but very close.

Pretty good cheesesteaks. Would be a better value at $12 though. It might just be my imagination, but Donkeys in Camden seems tastier.

It's technically just a deli--but it's a great deli…read more We've been coming here ever since we moved to the area. The first time we walked in, it definitely caught us a little off guard (you'll understand once you see it), but it didn't take long for this place to completely win us over. Pro tip for first-timers: the front door has a mind of its own. It sticks pretty hard--probably some weird pressure thing--so you've got to pull hard to get in and push hard to get out. Like... commit to it. Once you're inside, though, it's all worth it. The food is consistently delicious, generously portioned, and very reasonably priced. Truly zero complaints--we've never had a bad meal here. And on top of that, they offer free local delivery, which is always a huge bonus. As you'd expect from a proper deli, the menu is massive--easily dozens and dozens of sandwich options--yet somehow the service is always fast, efficient, and friendly. Even on busy days, they keep things moving without making you feel rushed. And yes, even when I only stop in a handful of times a year just to play the lotto, they're still welcoming and upbeat. Overall, this place does an excellent job of giving you real value for your money. It's one of those no-frills, neighborhood spots that just gets it right--good food, fair prices, and reliable service. We're glad to have it nearby and will definitely keep coming back.

They do have some amazing wraps if you don't mind waiting 45 minutes+ for your order. If you call…read morein an order for pick-up, make sure you add at least 15 minutes to the time they tell you. And don't expect your order to be correct...this review is NOT from just 1 bad experience. Updated....gave them another shot & surprise...my order was WRONG again! Don't list items tha come on a hoagie and then not add ANY of them.
